We are graduating from the age of probiotics and prebiotics to a time in which we are able to adopt exciting new strategies that give us enormous control over the aging process. I will talk about the power of cultivating the bacterial species, Lactobacillus reuteri, to take advantage of its ability to smooth skin and reduce wrinkles, accelerate healing, preserve bone density, restore youthful muscle and strength, increase libido, and enhance empathy. I will discuss how bowel flora has gone haywire in many people, populating parts of the gastrointestinal tract where they don’t belong and contributing to the aging process and underlying many health conditions. I will then discuss how to assess this situation, then correct it, with potential to restore and maintain many aspects of youthfulness and health.
William Davis, MD is cardiologist and author of the New York Times #1 bestseller, Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight and Find Your Path Back to Health and Super Gut: Reprogram Your Microbiome to Restore Health, Lose Weight, and Turn Back the Clock to be released February 2022. https://amzn.to/3vuRJs6
His books have sold nearly 4 million copies in the worldwide market and are published in 40 countries. National media appearances include the Dr. Oz Show, CBS This Morning, and Live with Kelly (Ripa), featured on Bill O’Reilly and the Colbert Report, and in print media including First for Women and Woman’s World magazines. Dr. Davis has a substantial online presence on his Wheat Belly Blog (www.wheatbellyblog.com) with 10 million visitors.
More than books, more than social media, Dr. Davis is devoted to building a movement of individual self-empowerment to reduce or eliminate reliance on conventional healthcare.

My kids are in Their 50's. Happy to say I had natural childbirth. And I had no meds
Breastfed all 3 babies. And my daughters did the same. Our food was organic. We ate all healthy organic food.. I'm 80...
And microbiome is of utmost importance. We just need to all get back to basics in nature.

I’ve been taking probiotics for a while, but I’d never heard of L reutori and B. infantis. I’m only now discovering that the probiotics I’ve been taking contain only a single, or two, strains.

In some cultures grandma looked after their grandchildren. These kids got breast fed and when weaning comes, it is grandma who chews the solid food and feeds the toddler. Hence the passage of free micro biome to kids. Kids 80 years ago had better nutrition then cmpared to now, where it is considered 'modern' 'advanced' if you use formula and have a C section. Our internal environment has been savaged in the same way we savaged our external environment. We all need a complete rethinking of how we are going to go forward in the coming decades.

Glad to see doctor Davis speaking again. For making his yogurt we use a yogurt maker with an additional temperature probe that goes to a plug-in digital thermostat. Easy to buy on Amazon. Keeps the temperature much more accurate

I grew up on a farm and we always made our own yogurt. The process is very simple, at least the way we did it. Cook the milk (this is for fresh milk), let it cool to where it is lukewarm, mix in 1-2 tablespoons of plain, full fat yogurt, mix it well. Wrap that whole bowl in a towel and leave it overnight in a place where its not too cold(room temperature). My mom preps all this in the evening and leaves it next to a stove. In the morning we have yogurt. It can last 2 weeks to a month in a fridge and the longer it sits the thicker it becomes, like a Greek yogurt but without all that sugar they put in.
You can also take that yogurt and put it in a cotton bag to drain overnight and you'll have a basic, very plain cream cheese to which you can add some flavors. I just put some salt and use a little bit milk to make it to my desired texture.
I suppose the stuff he's talking about could be added here to make it even healthier.

Dr. Davis I have a question: Post menopausal vaginal atrophy is due to lactobacillus no longer supported in the vagina because there is no more glycogen, due to estrogen loss, to feed lactobacillus.
Does lactobacillus reuteri work in the vagina and other skin in post menopausal women with this lack of glycogen, to improve the epithelium?

I must admit, the good Dr. Davis' own physical state is hardly indicative of optimal gut functioning. I am SAD to see this, as it does take me to a more skeptical stance regarding his understanding of the secrets to optimal health.
To cut anyone off at the pass, no, am not seeking a bulked-up, six-packed individual, but the obvious overweight, and the location of much of it in the dangerous organ area . . . this is problematic.

Eh, Dr. Davis has been banging on about L. reuteri yogurt for years. I made it for a while and got no positive result. It became too much of a chore to play kitchen chemist, and I got sick of choking it down every day (1/2 c. min. for good health per Dr. D).
It's interesting that no other low carb gurus promote it either. Lots of brilliant minds in this space, and none of them talk about the wonders of L. reuteri yogurt. Just Dr. D.

I challenge this doctor to preach to those with massive gut dysfunction, test them, treat them and you will soon see and learn that there is no quick fix. Your money, spend it carefully. Your health, sort it out yourself. just wind the clock back and see when and how it all went wrong for you, these guys never take up a challenge because they know they will loose.

Can you suggest a method to propagate these bacteria without using dairy products for those of us who are lactose intolerant.

you are made to feel all warm and fuzzy because he is a doctor, there is no, 100% guarantee, everyone of us has a differing requirement, especially if these people have gut issues.

Dr. Davis can i reverse Intestinal metaplasia the natural way? The entire GI community in the Dallas area default to antiacids as the ONLY solution. I have been taking antiacids for 13 years with no results. Actually, i think it may have caused my Intestinal metaplasia. Please help me!

Dr. Davis is so ahead of the curve we need a different way of measuring time. He begins the lecture by emphasizing he tries to bring us actionable information and that he has been studying this field for several years. ( nice overall framework, bringing us people, without a lot of money, things that are much cheaper than buying commercial products-- although we need the specific strains to get started fermenting )
I have also been studying a similar field, but since 2015, intensely, often 10 hours a day. I call this field the degradation of our health and the destruction of the health of our children.
I am making two of the yogurts he describes ( with all the details ) in his new book, the L reuteri and arthritis ones, bacillus coagulans ( , and they are much much tastier than anything we buy in a store and with 10X as much of the probiotic, per half cup of the yogurt.
I got the S boulardi in the mail yesterday and just need some fruit juice to make the yeast ferment. I have to look up the B infantis in his book and what temperature to ferment this strain at, in the half and half, with a little sugar and potato starch ( pg 236 ) . We can do this in the oven, as he did at the beginning, with a thermometer, but with a sous vide stick I also make chuck roast that is much tastier and tender than any expensive cuts of meat so that is a worthwhile investment.
Thank you Dr. Davis for a masterpiece of a presentation, putting all the major relevant matters into a entertaining format.

In the first two minutes this guy tells me people are responsible for hurricanes and wildfires and God knows what else that has been occurring naturally for the last several thousand years. I have to stop listening at this point and realize that someone with this level of intelligence and gullibility is not someone I want to be taking health advice from.

This cardiologist has never done any actual science research himself and his previous book was full of misinterpretations, exaggerations, opposite conclusions of other peoples work. But hey it was a bestseller, so he knows how to sell books, so I will expect scientists will be facepalming in 2022 when his next book comes out full of distortions. Nothing wrong with eating fermented foods and certainly microbiome variety is desirable but I’m willing to bet given many of the big claims he is tossing out here that act 2 is going to be more of the same distortions, exaggerations, misinterpretations of research like act 1. But hey, he has MD after his name so he must be an expert. 🤦🏻♂️

This doctor is likely misleading a lot of people with his lectures. This is medical evangelizing, not medical science. Docs like him tend to overstate and oversimplify. But it gets audiences excited.
