For me the possibility of traversable wormholes (at least in theory) seems to be the most important breakthrough . We can hope to reach the distant parts of the universe in a few hundred years (or at least can dream ) 🙂 .

It's a common misconception that wormholes are like "tunnels" when passing through them. The reality is that passing through them should take next to no time at all. The 2 sides of the wormhole would be right next to eachother, and there would be no room to put any exotic matter to hold the tunnel open, as there is no tunnel.

I wasn't aware of Hawking's black hole area theorem, and it surprised me since it seemed to go in the opposite direction of his hawking radiation theory. I'm glad they mentioned that at 10:58

Keep in mind some of these aren’t even breakthroughs, and are instead theories that have yet to be proven. Example- Negative mass does not exist, it has only been theorized. Example 2- though wormholes are consistent with the general theory of relativity it has still yet to become anything but a theory since 1916.

The thing about wormholes is that they can take you anywhere in the Known Universe, maybe even beyond…but I feel like it would be a one way trip considering that you can’t keep a wormhole open

Is it possible that a probe enters a wormhole, astronomers think it touched something that destroyed it but years later, we receive a signal from a distant galaxy thinking it's from other civilizations when in fact it's just the probe reaching us again?

The force of motion transference? Magnetic fields have various influences on motion of space and mass according to it's composition of material. The stronger magnetism toward iron versus aluminum. Its grip on passing iron, at the same mass as aluminum, would be stronger, and the motion of passing would have a greater curve, as to aluminum. Compaction of mass, and its value of motion equalization, remains intact. Force of motion transference through these various elements, factors how much force is needed to push through and how much of a curve they're subject to.

If its true that all of our smartest scientists all agree (for the most part) that our universe began as an infinitely small and infinitely dense point and exploded out into an infinitely expanding and uniform mix of hot gasses, then what is the singularity at the bottom of a black hole? The beginning and end of our universe? Perhaps all the black holes collide to the point that only one immense black hole remains that then spews it all out to start again.

Damn this is the first time I'm watching a SOU video without realising it was a SOU video. I was watching the breakthroughs of 2021 videos of the Quanta Magazine, and I assumed this was one of their video too haha. I only realised it at the end when I went to search for the "Basics of Astrophysics" link in the description.

8:05 "Combined elements of relativity and quantum mechanics" either we figured out how to link those two fields and it would've mase the news if we did, either they're merely cherry picking properties for it to work theoretically. Result: they still can't exist according to our model of the universe.

Do you really mean breakthrough? Some of these theories have been around for decades, and are just theories. None really have major implications within the science community, or real world. Although, I can still imagine sending radio waves through 'quantum' wormholes would be great for deep space communication

Good job overall but tbh I don't think that you explained some of the concepts very well. It's very hard to simplify these things so I understand, but when you don't explain crucial parts of these discoveries it makes it hard to understand. One decent example is here at 1:31 where you just mention LIGO and Virgo without explaining what they are. Obviously, it's hard to simplify but leaving these fundamental facts out throughout the video makes the foundation of your explanations shakey and hard for many to understand. I really like space and science content so hopefully, you can make some improvements and reach your true potential. Good luck!

We don't fully understand physics, so how does something defy the laws of physics when we don't fully understand them?

Listen space is massive, And ultimately traveling through space is a journey in it's self and the real most habitable world's seems to be over 300 light years away. But in my opinion teleportation is probably going to be a thing or refueling depots man by robots. Now see teleportation will be like a break down of all atoms into stages and then the reconstruction of them using matrix quantum physics. You become basically apart of dark matter and reconstructing into your self. However the timing will be determined by distance. There are void energy spectrums that exists which are none detectable by today's technology. I think study of how a universe is created is a grand way of looking at it. Energy before energy is void. The way I see is think about the solar system how far it travels in a year. Think about every second you are literally standing somewhere else in the universe even though you haven't went anywhere this is interesting as time is similar.

Quantum Entangled Twisted Tubules:
When we draw a sine wave on a blackboard, we are representing spatial curvature. Does a photon transfer spatial curvature from one location to another? Wrap a piece of wire around a pencil and it can produce a 3D coil of wire, much like a spring. When viewed from the side it can look like a two-dimensional sine wave. You could coil the wire with either a right-hand twist, or with a left-hand twist. Could Planck's Constant be proportional to the twist cycles. A photon with a higher frequency has more energy. (More spatial curvature). What if gluons are actually made up of these twisted tubes which become entangled with other tubes to produce quarks. (In the same way twisted electrical extension cords can become entangled.) Therefore, the gluons are actually a part of the quarks. Mesons are made up of two entangled tubes (Quarks/Gluons), while protons and neutrons would be made up of three entangled tubes. (Quarks/Gluons) The "Color Force" would be related to the XYZ coordinates (orientation) of entanglement. "Asymptotic Freedom", and "flux tubes" make sense based on this concept. Neutrinos would be made up of a twisted torus (like a twisted donut) within this model. Gravity is a result of a very small curvature imbalance within atoms. (This is why the force of gravity is so small.) Instead of attempting to explain matter as "particles", this concept attempts to explain matter more in the manner of our current understanding of the space-time curvature of gravity. If an electron has qualities of both a particle and a wave, it cannot be either one. It must be something else.

This is silly. Some breakthroughs here might be appropriate for Saturday morning cartoons. Time-travel & wormhole "breakthroughs" are more in line w/ children's magical thought processes. Before naming 2021's 5 greatest breakthroughs in physics & science, 1st run them thru the 3 laws of thermodynamics, much like you'd run an email thru a spell-checker before sending. Had anyone, you'd find the 2nd & 3rd laws (regarding entropy) would disabuse yourself of the magical wormholes and time travel. If you're "science-curious", read how the order in our universe is governed by entropy, meaning, eventually, everything ('order') in our universe will devolve into disorder (decay). If you strike a match, it burns...'order' to 'disorder'. You can never undo/reverse that. If you pour milk in coffee & stir...you can never 'unmix' back into milk & black coffee. Time travel & going thru wormholes violate this laws.
