My wife had stage III cervical cancer she had surgery and radiation on. It went into remission. Then years later she had breast cancer which she had surgery on to remove. After hearing metformin might prevent cancer I gave her small amounts of my metformin which she is still taking present day. She has been cancer free for over 11 years now. For people that are afraid to take metformin there is goat's rue of which metformin is derived from and is probably about the same.

Thank you Lance for uploading this video. I found it very interesting to watch. I have changed my diet to eating boiled eggs in the morning and eating chicken salad sandwiches. Without any problem at all. I have been Type 2 Diabetic now since January 2016. I was eating all the wrong foods for many years. Now I am on the right diet. People think I am 45 to 48 years old but in fact I am over 69. PC. 07. 10 . 2021.

New subscriber here. Found your video trying to get information on metformin (above a certain age nobody likes to get older😑) . No need to look any further, you summed up everything there is to it. Thank you so much for your efforts! As already said by many here: you look much younger than your age! Looking forward to your other video's.

A good review. I’m 67 and not diabetic. I take 500mg on days that I don’t workout (modest workout) such as 5k jog, HIIT rowing or cardio. Not seen any ill effects, my fasting blood glucose is 4.7mmols (83mg). This means I take metormin only twice a week. Currently feels like a good balance.

Good video and summary of the pros and cons of Metformin plus ongoing research Lance. Very well communicated and produced, you've got a follow from me, I'd love to see you do longevity videos on DHEA, creatine, NAD precursors, and "Berberine vs Metformin" some time.

Good video lots of info. Guess you’re 71 now, I just turned 70 a month ago. I’ve been taking 1000mg/2x/day since January 2005 when I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. In August, 2020, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Since then I have embarked on a serious physical regimen to slow the progress and hold my PD at Stage 1. My weight is down to 170 lbs., the lowest since high school. I have built muscle mass and my fitness level is greatly increased. When people meet me, they think I might be 60, which is gratifying. So I don’t think it’s just the Metformin, but clearly I am a very healthy “sick” person, and don’t feel or look my age.

I have been taking metformin for type 2 diabetes 34 years and it keeps my A1C in the normal range for a non-diabetic, and allows me to eat most anything I want. I'm 78 now and it's good to hear metformin may have other benefits...............never had stomach problems of anything else I could blame on the metformin.....

My testimony regarding Metformin, I was prescribed with this drug in 1995 or 1996 and been taking it ever since. Now I am almost 78 years old and I still feel very healthy, doing some walking everyday for a mile or two.

het=y there Lance. Great stuff. Very concise, accurate and you're a great presenter, dude. Only one problem, you must update metformin's effect on the kidney's. a few large studies have shown it has little or no effect - no lactic acidosis. Check it out.

I am on Metformin for PCOS. I weened myself off of it and found after a few months more fine lines( I am 47), and my PCOS symptoms came back. I have gone back on half the dose and find that it works better for me. I am thinking my body became accustomed to the medication and it was not working as effectively.

I take it for high blood sugar. My RX is 2000mg a day but I cut the pills in half and take 500mg in the morning and 500 mg at night. I do this to try to prevent getting the runs. As stated in this video, it is important to take Metforman WITH FOOD or you can feel sick and get the runs like I did when I took my first 1000mg pill without taking it with a meal. I also take a B12 supplement for peace of mind. Good luck to all using Metforman =)

Since taking metformin for type 2 (I am 67) I have more energy and my IBS (due to diverticulosis) has pretty much cleared up! I was taking Imodium nearly every day but in the last two months I have only had to take it twice! I have fibro so walking excercise is difficult but I dance around indoors to salsa music! By far the clearing up of the constant dihorrea ( sp?) is fantastic. Although that may be due to giving up sugar!

Metformin gives me no side affects and always helps with my diabetis 2 its amazing how much it helps. I take 500 mg twice a day morn and night and sometimes only once a day tho can go days without it too, when my carbs are very low.... I notice that when I gave up carbs totally almost, my blood pressure dropped dangerously, and tho meat gives me aching joints, in moderation it gives me the salt in my snacks like beef jerky sticks so with Metformin can have my 30 carbs a day or more no problems. But diabetic 2 should have moderate carbs at once not huge amount even if only 30 grams at once for the day except at night as after full amount of carbs in one go, it knocks me out and makes me sleep. Dont need sleeping pills just eat carbs as a snack before bed he he.......From australia.

I hope someone will read this. I have taken metformin for the first time last night with a meal (500 mg instead of 1000,which was probably wise) and it made me feel really weird. My hands and feet were cold, i felt extremely anxious and all of a sudden sleepy. It took hours to dissipate. I've been looking up a lot of stuff on Google, from hypoglycemia to lactic acidosis... But we all know Google can be very dramatic. I have no idea what I had. I am a very healthy person in my late 20s and the only thing i found that could affect me is my anemia and low blood pressure (I had anemia with 18 where i was eating really badly, idk if i actually still have it). Now the question is, should I keep taking metformin until my body adjusts or am I making myself sick? Is there something I can do to lower these side effects? Thank you so much to anyone who could provide some information. I want to add that I had no nausea, upset stomach or abdominal pain. I also ate a meal before and a yoghurt just after taking the pill which may not have been smart...

Just started metformin for PCOS and heard about the anti-aging benefits from it! I’m 24 right now and if it truly slows down aging I’m excited to see where this might go 😝🙈 btw I truly thought you were in your 50’s and then read the comments. I can’t believe your in your 70’s!!!! Metformin ftw

as we talk about in our videos, we went to a 100% plant basted diet that is low in fats. Lowering fat intake allows the body to properly utilize insulin. Fats are the problem for diabetics, not carbs.
Please tell us your opinion on this statement ? Love your videos'

Tried it for this, gave me pretty intense hypoglycemia after a couple weeks. I eat healthy, not on any other meds. I was taking 500 mg, cut it in half to 250, still getting the shakes unless I eat sugar or carbs . I did have controlled hypoglycemia before....I will stop it a while, which will balance it out, then try 100 mg.

What is "youthful methylation"? Does metformin increase or decrease methylation in general, or does it affect the specific methylation that occurs that is somehow "anti-aging"?

70? You have the energy and "general feel" of a 30 year old. Obviously, there are visible signs of aging, but overall impression is : that's a young person. Good job!

It felt as if the chest was about to explode.

I work out a lot and I have no doubt whatsoever that metformin decreased my cardio capabilities. So I stopped taking metformin.
If working out regularly and intensely is not for you - metformin might be 😉

Agree, Metformin vs Berberine would be helpful. I am diabetic, tried Metformin. too harsh on my body. Using Berberine and getting good results. Say hi to Vince.

Look we know that there are many side effects in metformin, and in spite of this, doctors will definitely prescribe metformin for controlling diabetes. However we doubt very much that any doctor would prescribe metformin for something that is not even proven such as slowing the aging process! And since I believe that you can't obtain metformin without a medical prescription, it is therefore not in your power to use it for the purpose that was explained in this video! No, not your choice to decide!!

It can be hard on the kidneys, which is why those on Metformin have to have at least annual kidney function tests.

I've read that metformin reduces testosterone levels and increases estrogen levels which as a male I'd say is unwanted
