Do we finally have control over ageing? | Prof David Sinclair 133,404 viewsSep 16, 2021

What if ageing is a 𝑡𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 disease? In this week's #HealthyLongevity #webinar, Prof David Sinclair from Harvard Medical School shares a bold new theory for why we age. Prof Sinclair is also the author of "Lifespan, Why We Age – and Why We Don’t Have To" (https://lifespanbook.com/ ). The reprogramming efforts are really interesting - but my concern is that it may be decades before it gets translated to the clinic, and will be expensive if it turns into a therapy. Perhaps Altos Labs can speed things up. I think the NUS efforts at identifying supplements and drugs that are most helpful in aging are the big win for the next 5 years - drugs like rapamycin. V. I am curious, I understand that theoretically we can use many different interventions to tackle all the hallmarks of aging, from telomerace to increase telemeters, Partial reprogramming to improve mitochondrial health and restore epigenetic youthful patters as well as the use of different proteins to remove wastes. But genetic instability seems impossible to treat. Correct me if I am wrong. I hope that accumulated mutations don't have much of a damage them self, rather its just when they occur that they affect other parts of the ageing process. 3 Irish Willow Irish Willow 8 months ago Not sure if David's theory will reverse or slow down aging but the supplement he recommends sure give energy to my aging years. I love that book. In there, there's no point increasing lifespan without health span. The goal should be to live longer while staying young and healthy. Sinclair believes that in the foreseeable future, it's possible for humans to live beyond 120 or even 150, without the frailty, diseases and disability we now associate with old age. I hate aging and the illnesses it brings over time. This is why I am now taking NMN supplement by Vitruvin constantly. 1 Brent Nally Brent Nally 8 months ago Two longevity legends in one epic video! With perfect skin and wrinkle free. Doing 0 supplements, fasting, superfoods or any other so called health practises. They are just in tune with their body and live joyfully. Having good genetics helps alot also. Your own intuition can be your best tool. What to eat and when to eat. Most people are not in tune with their body's circadian rhythms, however. Also seen people age 40 doing all kinds of supplements, fasting and exercise for decades. But they seem to have aged terribly. So untill we see 60 year olds looking and acting like 20. Nothing incredible special is going on. It's 2021 and I think we're just started to grasp the basic understanding how aging works. it's incredibly complex. In this timeline your best bet is probably living as naturally and in tune with nature as you can. Looking at the blue zones. The real paradigm shifts are probably still a few centuries away. 16 Patricia Búdová Patricia Búdová 7 months ago Prof Sinclair is really getting younger 😮 He looked different/older in Tom Bilyeu show two years ago 🤔Or is it some kind of screen-filter?…If not, the difference is amazing 7 norhaina lidjamansali norhaina lidjamansali 7 months ago hi thank you for a great show what is the effect of vit d and vitamin c in aging. FireFacts FireFacts 5 months ago (edited) With the current rate of life span expectancy increase in 60 years from now the average lifespan will be between 93 and 99 years. Meaning that about half the 30 year old's of today will live to be over 100 years old. And that is not taking in to account things like the benefits of intermittent fasting, Gene therapy, NmN, bio-printing and so on. Ever calculate the socioeconomic consequences? Raise the retirement age to 80? 90? Longevity requires a complete paradigm shift. Who wants to do a shitty job for 60-70 years? How long will workers want to pay for all those living to 150 in 70 years retirement? Is science ahead of it's skis? Someone needs to put equal effort into longevity consequences. So my advice is simple. Do not seek so strenuously to push your lifespan. Health, absolutely. Keep to habits that keep infirmity at bay. And always adhere to the one maxim I follow; use it or lose it. But lifespan? That's a fools errand. Seek, rather, to use the time which you are given wisely and maximally to the benefit not just of yourself, but to all those you love and for whom you care. And when the time comes exit as gracefully as you can, and move on to that which comes next. In so doing remember there is no need to be fearful about this. Because consider that you are manifest energy and so long as Time exists energy is never destroyed, it merely transforms. So wherever it is we go next after this span of time, however it is we are transformed, I wish you well with it. We’ ll never get back to even Bible characters pre- flood lifespans. Just enjoy the time you have and eat healthy so you can maintain some quality of life for your sun setting. But the sun always eventually will set. Best you can hope for is for it to be as long as summer solstice day before nighttime if you get my analogy. Unfortunately science will never change that fact. But fortunately death is just a transition and we start life anew without time having any effects whatsoever.
