EXERCISE that activates the LONGEVITY SIRTUINS. Recently David Sinclair was interviewed by Sam Bakhtiar, Sam is a doctor, an author and a was world-class bodybuilder. In this clip David Sinclair talks about the best type of exercises for longevity, he talks about HIIT, about becoming hypoxic and resistance training to activate the sirtuins.

Discovered by David Sinclair PhD, NMN or Nicotinamide Mononucleotide is the pre-cursor to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), NAD is found in nearly all our living cells. NAD is essential for sustaining life. Dr. David Sinclair (a professor at Harvard Medical School) once said if we suddenly didn’t have NAD we would be dead within eight seconds.’ Unfortunately, as we age our NAD levels drastically decline, clinical studies have shown that by age of 50 a typical person could have half the NAD+ they did in their youth and by the age of 80 our NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) levels drop to around 1% to 10% of those enjoyed in our youth. NAD is biologically unstable, which makes it unsuitable for oral supplementation. Fortunately, it is easy to restore our cellular NAD levels using NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) or NR (Nicotinamide Riboside), which convert to NAD when it is in the cell. These NAD boosting supplements can be purchased from reputable companies such as Do Not Age, Alive by Science and Pro-health Longevity, however there are many unscrupulous companies selling fake NMN, so buyer beware. Dr. David Sinclair confirms that a fascinating aspect of NAD+ is its dual role in protecting against factors that age us. This includes mitigating chemical stress, inflammation, DNA damage and failing mitochondria; all conditions associated with aging. In other words, while a decline in NAD+ levels may negatively influence lifespan and Healthspan (health-span), so restoring NAD+ is increasingly being viewed as a scientific way to promote longevity and a way to combat the diseases of aging too. A rigorous scientific review of NAD+ reveals that its longevity benefits arise from eight different, but interrelated, functions. In 2013 a scientific study; 2-year old mice were tested for muscle wastage, insulin resistance and inflammation, all are, on humans used as indicators of the aging process, they were then given NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) for 1 week. In all cases, after only 1 week the 2-year old mice were reflecting the expected findings of 6-month old mice in the areas of muscle wastage, insulin resistance and inflammation. In human terms that would be comparable to a 75-year old having the results you would expect from a 25-year old. In a later methodical study, in 2018, again on mice, Dr. David Sinclair’s team at the Harvard Medical School found that the aging of blood vessels had been reversed. The science showed that mice that were given NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) had restored blood vessel growth and had increased muscle endurance by up to 80%. Supplementation with NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) and NR (Nicotinamide Riboside) has been shown to slow cellular aging in mice and improve many metabolic defects common to degenerative processes, including muscle wastage, insulin resistance and inflammation. Nicotinamide mononucleotide ("NMN", "NAMN", and "β-NMN") is a nucleotide derived from ribose and nicotinamide.

Flexibility is #1 for me, in both body and mind. I do some HIIT and weights, but without the flexibility it's rather useless to me.

Joined the gym when the covid19 stated over a year ago. 72 and the gym has helped greatly during the year and a half. I do deadlifts, pullups plus other exercises. I mostly go as heavy as I can on the weights. Go pain no gains they say. 5'7" 170 pounds. Seems like I've gained a lot of muscle.

Lately I've been doing HIIT (up to eight 25-second bursts with two minutes of active rest between) twice a week, the equivalent of 10K steps twice a week, and resistance/core training twice a week. And on the seventh day, I rest. It keeps things fresh, and there's a logic to it.

I needed this. Been a bit slow to get my regiment settled. I have a Bellicon rebounder and it's fantastic for boosting blood circulation and lymphatic system. I always feel refreshed when I do light bouncing. Also have a vibration plate and that's great for loosening up muscles. Gym memberships are too expensive. Home gyms and weights are the best!!

I'm active 64 need to train for my age so as not to strain my joints. Good test is to sit on floor and get up without using your hands, I can do that. Haven't been at my old job for 7 years because of taking care of my Dad, he has past in December at age of 95. Took a job as Security Guard because I can walk property all day for exercise and get paid for it ! Lol will rejoin gym when covid is over. I do your supplement stack, thanks for you video and more on training over 50 years old would be helpful. I think I'm loosing muscle mass especially taking Metformen, going to try every other day dose, workout , intermittent fasting. 5' 8" height 162 lb weight

The most important exercise is the exercise that you will do.
It may be more important to exercise through out the day than to a do a single longer session. See the walking video that Vince posted this week.
I would guess that different forms of exercise have different health benefits and that a well rounded program comprised of many different forms of exercise might be best.
