The Demonization of Statins: https://lnkd.in/g-TsVw9 📖Early Bird Book Launch: https://lnkd.in/gZzdatC Alabama Project: https://www.jubilee.health/ -- ABOUT THIS VIDEO: The TAME study was finally funded! TAME (Targeting Aging with Metformin) aims to slow the aging process. It has been developed and approved by the National Institute of Aging and the FDA. The principal investigator, Nir Barzilai, is excited about changing the paradigm and getting big PHARMA to actually fund research for drugs (like metformin) for anti-aging. Getting older is associated with heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, dementia, among other things. This is where metformin comes in. It helps slow down the major biochemical challenge of aging: glucose metabolism. Enzymes like insulin membrane receptors, mTOR, AMPK, and SIRT1 are implicated. And they are positively impacted by metformin. Metformin is cheap (free at many pharmacies now). It's been used for decades. It's popular (the #1 oral drug for early type 2 diabetes). And it's safer than you think. Some medical sites (like Mayo) still incorrectly list lactic acidosis as a problem with metformin. But look up the multiple Cochrane analyses on this. -- Read more about metformin here: https://prevmedhealth.com/can-metform... . -- 🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic. At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine or in-person if you're in the Lexington, KY area. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease. Starrider Studios Pinned by Ford Brewer MD MPH Starrider Studios 1 year ago I'm 55. Excellent shape, A+ on everything in my annual physical. I'm on my 4th week taking 500 MG of metformin thanks to 2 doctors that told me to start taking, one anti aging, one lipidologist, both MDs of course. Anti aging doc doesn't like statin drugs, but I take them anyway, convinced of the studies myself along with my lipidologist PC MD. Seen my fasting glucose go from the 90s to the 80s with my freestyle librelink. 1 Ford Brewer MD MPH FactCheck the FactCheckers FactCheck the FactCheckers 3 years ago Can you please tell me what the minimum proper daily dosage of metformin would be in order for the as stated benefits to occur over prolong usage? 9 lotechfarmer lotechfarmer 4 years ago Great info! I've had a good relationship with my P.A. for the past 15 years, and have been getting blood work at 6 month intervals for the past 4 years. Over the last 2 years, I've been diagnosed as pre-diabetic with insulin resistance but my P.A. has never even mentioned Metformin, even though she has no hesitation about prescribing drugs and supplements. Do you reckon I should bring this up at my next checkup? 3 J F J F 3 years ago Thank you Dr. Brewer for well done video on Metformin. I appreciated the research and explanation on aging and how metformin could help. Seems like many Doctor won't perscribe it unless one has diabetes 2. Any suggestion on how to get this medication if your doctor won't perscribe? Thank U. 5 Ford Brewer MD MPH baddoggie101 baddoggie101 2 years ago Aging is the number one risk factor for death by dying. 7 Ditch Weed Ditch Weed 2 years ago (edited) Scary stats on aging. Must get metformin! Also cutting out omega 6(canola, sunflower)uping omega3. Wheat is also aparently inflamatory too so aside from cutting down on carbs, cuting out wheat completely and most breads in the US have added gluten and treated with glyphosphate. I try to consume quinoa instead. So no omega 6 as aparently accumulates in body and the oxidation wrecks havoc/long half-life in cell. Monounsaturated fats ok and saturated in smaller ammounts ok. Salmon, salmon salmon. Sardines sardines sardines. No frozen salmon with added tripolyphosphate. They ad ton of that stuff in some frozen sea food to ad water weight but wrecks your insides heart/arteries and kidneys. Fresh is better. VapeKing VapeKing 3 years ago I found out I had diabetis a little over a year ago immediatley began metformin, weight loss, exercise, and eating right. I am on 1000mg twice a day of metformin but my blood sugar looks normal now after losing 120lbs. so was considering trying to get off metformin but since Im 46 maybe I should just stay on it for these anti aging benefits. 2 Pluvo2for1 Pluvo2for1 3 years ago Has the study published any results yet? 2 Dr. Angie Stones Dr. Angie Stones 4 years ago Very interesting video. I missed a few of your videos because youtube decided that my educational videos about dissertations had too many views in a short period of time (of course, all my students were watching :) ). So I lost all the information on that channel. But I started a new one, so I found you. 4 James California James California 1 year ago - Very interesting. Problem is most Doctors are reluctant to prescribe for prevention. Have to discuss this with our own physician. Ford Brewer MD MPH Michael B Michael B 2 years ago Hello Doctor, would Metformin protect cells from potential cellular damage which may occur due to Ionising radiation (cheat X rays ) 2 Victoria Powell Victoria Powell 4 years ago Splitters! Big problem in contemporary medicine for sure. But, maybe we don't really need to put them out of business -- what if they actually communicated with each other and that requirement was part of the standard of care? 2 downbntout downbntout 3 years ago Is aging a true risk factor or co-incident? How does simple passage of time affect cell biology? Do cells have X number of divisions in the telomeres or is it all the collisions of molecules causing damage? What is it you are calling aging? How would you make medical decisions differently if the birthdate of your patient was concealed? I saw a pre-WWII photo of a lady on old Okinawa pushing a heap-full wheelbarrow at 108 and I thought, that's proper aging as we all can be, in health 2 downbntout downbntout 3 years ago I wish the camera could just be focused on the info without it bouncing around in and out of focus. It's too valuable for this technique. All you need is a certain tripod. If you have to buy a camera too, so be it, but please consider this suggestion. To your success, Dr. Brewer Stephen A Stephen A 3 years ago I live in the Lexington area, do you know of any doctors that would prescribe metformin for anti aging? Thanks for any info. 2 Gigi9909 Gigi9909 4 years ago Interesting information! 3 John Warnstaff John Warnstaff 3 years ago Would love to hear one on a drug called lithium (Sounds scary) but hearing about it some lately 1 Ford Brewer MD MPH Natalia Destin Natalia Destin 2 years ago Thank you. Sawmiller Smith Sawmiller Smith 4 years ago Well about all I can say is I have never known any old people who used any drugs. Like my mother in-law. She died at 97 and did use drugs to stop old age..I don't remember reading those where people live longer than most, like Japan use drugs to stop aging..But I'm no expert on aging either.. I'm just getting most of my information by observation and trying to mimic what they did.. 3 Susie Cordova Susie Cordova 4 years ago I am inermittent fasting veryday and want to take metformin for anti aging.. About to buy met formin. Is it ok to take metformin and even though you fast? 3 violet ka violet ka 2 years ago hello........if we take another supplement that works like metformin is the same ??... or we need to take metformin specifically??... Tony Pittsburgh Tony Pittsburgh 3 years ago Would 500mg a day help? Nenad Cubric Nenad Cubric 3 months ago Berberin does the same?? Ford Brewer MD MPH Patrick van meter Patrick van meter 2 years ago OTC in Mexico. 850mgs. Haven't used it yet. I'm 78 and want to research some more. I don't have any health problems. Just AGE. Sinclair, author of lifespan, claims age isn't the problem. I don't think age is a problem but a lot of things seem to accumulate from years of life. We'll see. So far only one solution to ageing and we all know what that is. Annette Fowler Annette Fowler 3 years ago THANK YOU.!!!
