The main takeaway from this brilliant lecture was quality of life which to my estimation is far more important than longevity...which has its perks but not if the quality of life is poor.

I love the focus on “extending health span” - and on staying curious and playfull and your optimistic message that 80 % of healthy aging is in our own hands - so now you make us curious of what we can do beyond what we already know - no smoking loving life and being active each day

Such a profound talk to such a small audience. That is what differentiates a true scientist from a simple talker. I wish there were more of Dr.Sinclair on YouTube. This research is most vital to humanity right now.

Christopher Hitchens had a great line about dying, he said "People say the party is over when you die but it's even worse - the party's going to go on but you have to leave" That really sucks. Let's end aging by 2050.

I have fasted for years and believe this has really helped me fight age illnesses and weight gain, I now am able to go the entire day with very low calorie , I drink natural drinks with zero calories and don't have cravings at all , I lift weights 3 to 4 times a week and spin class. Now following this plan to expand what I believe has been working for me . I even get more done when in a fasting state , including bills and important events , seems that I think clearer when properly hydrated and drinking Kambutcha type drinks etc .

The question "why we age?" is easy to answer when one gets to later ages. Wisdom does not necessarily arrive early in life. I am an identical twin and possibly the black sheep of the family and I have outlived a fine twin sister. Death is for those who are extremely ill or restricted and no wish to live beyond reasonable years. It all depends on one's life, on family connections and the ubiquitous wish to watch grand children etc grow up. If we have active and enquiring brains and a healthy body we can have the capacity to use our wisdom and live mentally active and positive lives beyond the norm. That is we take responsibility for our actions and create the life we want or endeavour to do so. Sadly many humans at this time do not take up the challenge of change required to continue further than the age of life expectancy, etc, etc..... I wondered how a younger person was able to talk about living longer because when he gets to his 70's, he will be faced with challenges not offered before. He will make changes in his health or life directions that might be needed and there will be enormous differences. It all boils down to what we think and feel at any particular age. And older still, I am not sure it is length that we will go for but simply enjoy quality of life and allow it to unfold. I, personally do not wish to put an age for future death however I am sure there is more for me to learn and achieve if I choose to acquire the mindset needed to further new wishes, dreams, goals - whatever. We age and die because it would appear to be a universal law of human nature. The differences between the young and the older persons are many and create many misunderstandings. The world needs new minds to let go of old (no longer of use) values to make way for the new (not necessarily better) values of the young. Death like Winter is the natural way of things. Long live Spring.

#1 live like an ostrich ...head in sand..don’t focus on world events, news, etc. Avoid negative thoughts and negative people.
#2 eat like a rabbit..more veggies than fruit or meat, fast at least 16 hours a day, no processed food
#3 keep moving, don’t be a couch potato, get up and DO something everyday

12:50 I've asked a number of folks if they'd like to live indefinitely (over a number of years). The answers are heavily dependent upon the quality of life experienced. The way the individual looks at the world, also determines how they look at issues of life and also death.

have lobsters been studied in regards to aging? Some of them get over 200 years old when not picked off to be served in a roll. What ultimately kills them is getting too tired to keep molting their shell (which I guess is aging, but it's not because their heart stops, etc.).

16:07 Yes. I was actually thinking about this. I understand that Mr. Sinclair is working with some economists. Just hope that this doesn't take his focus away from his main research. Overall, it's a very important question. The first time I heard about this was via Dr. Craig Venter. I believe. Say, we have the therapies and they are highly effective and super safe. Who gets the therapies, why and what will happen to the ecology if x or xx percentage of the population lives to xxx years.
Maybe Safa Mohtehsharrei can help us build different models. He worked on a model that is known as HANDY, I believe. I forget what that stands for.

28:23 I havent had a chance to read the book. So it's great that you wrote the book. Also, thinking, Dr. Peter Attia can handle the 'What do I do right now' side of things. Because, what if between the economics and questions like these, someone may be skillfully trying to keep your focus away/distracted.
Also, another thought: More people interested in learning about a) longevity and b) about newer forms of therapies c) The gap widening (>65 vs <5) would translate into lots more interest in this area overall.

I have read some researches that NMN may have a side effect of promoting growth of tumour and senescence cells has anybody experienced something same ?

A lot of bad for you drugs and or regular supplements that harm can give you better energy and better blood flow so he should follow that up with what makes that different and not dangerous near or long term.

The most effective way to enjoy life being healthy for as many years as possible is to exercise regularly and eat healthy. Seriously. Jack Lalanne had it right over a century ago. Even this guy will agree, I bet. Exercise most everyday, eat healthy, get enough sleep, have interests in life and people you can be with and communicate with who you love and care about. Do things that help others. You will live and keep living as long as possible.

Well from what I know drinking a glass of a red wine each and every day will kill you sooner than smoking cigarettes. Doctor with 30yrs of hospital experience told me a story of a woman in her 30s which was drinking 1 and only 1 beer (in Poland where this took place that is a bit more than a glass but still not much - half a liter) each and every day since she started her studies, and after 15 years her liver was trashed and she had to have a transplant. She also mentioned France as a capitol of liver transplants as they have the most developed culture of drinking wine. Furthermore that is developing a drinking habit. What the doctor mentioned above said is that one must have at least 2 full days a week without any alcohol to let the liver heal. If you know better - please correct me.

I'm 44 and I see that people around me are always trying to make me feel old... so I'm forced to age 😓
I try to keep young but over and over I go out and every negative people around always there to step on me and my dreams... I should make a documentary! People are so horrible and don't let you live! Beyond a certain age... that is why I think rich people also means for humans to live in gated communities, and love the VIP and secluded luxury. No one catches a bus ride downtown, especially in ISA or Europe.
Part of being rich to humans is being away from the main steam.
Honestly, people will crush anyone who seems to be ahead of them, and it's actually encouraged in the lower classes... 😪 I honestly am happy now I wear a mask..

7:28 Cells must have a clock. Telomere may be just one part of the equation. From the perspective of evolution, life continues on. Keeps making copies of itself. In animals, as a baby is born, it's cellular clock is somehow set back to 0. For animals who's cellular clock is not set to zero (pretty much every animal), the cells in their body begin losing their clockwork. So there are more and more errors in copying information over. Like in Dr. Sinclair's other interview with the Verasitim (spelling). The individual was asking why they have hair growing on their back and ears. And it's because the body is beginning to make errors while copying information over. Now if there are specific genes that indeed do regulate ageing, then the algorithm that drives the cellular clockwork, these algorithms have to be understood properly. Next, the problem is how to reprogram all of the tens of trillions of cells in the body. So we may have a couple of different approaches in the future.

I have been following the top Aging scientists for decades, and researching the field. I started the regimen that Dave recommended a few years back. Resveratrol, NMN, and Metformin. Not sure if it is working, but friends and family say I look young for my age, and I am Dave's age = 50. Hopefully I can hold on until the breakthroughs happen...

The eye forms about 28 days of gestation.
I fasted for about 30 days and my eyesight improved to almost perfect.
That was my reason for doing it.
I thought....hey.
I'll just fast for a month.
And eat greens and citruses and get sun exposure.
See if my eyesight improves and my hair grows faster.
I do this every year or two when my body is in rough shape.
Then I dialed in my greens and citrus intake.
Got more sun....
And increased my body temperature.
And involved full body movements.
But when I go long term fasting... I notice improvements.
And look younger.
Find the balance between bowel transit time and nutrient intake.
Moderate sun exposure is useful as well.
Sweating...
Sleep....
I don't drink coffee ...or tea.
Smoke. Nor alcohol.
I've tried it...
It interferes with my nervous system and makes me feel sick.
And intolerable to sun exposure.
I don't like dairy or eating animals either.
I've tried it... I'm 50 too.
And when I don't eat but every two days my ability to run long distances increases.
I enjoy sun exposure...avoid coffee, tea. Alcohol. Smoking. Milk.
Anything processed or cooked and definitely nothing in a can or microwaved.
This will help you be more tolerable of Sun Exposure. And extreme temperature changes.
I eat a lot of raw greens....
And skinny dip in winter weather ...
When Im at my peak bio markers.
And live on or near nudist colonies..
I eat every other day....raw greens and citruses.

I understand that this will help a lot of people but at the same time we must keep in mind that the population is growing rapidly as well and the basic needs like food and housing are getting scarce with each passing day so accessibility to this should be restricted and should be heavily monitored so that we don't cause more harm to the nature than good
