"I am open to ideas.... I am open to suggestions." That is why this guy has value. He cares about what people think, knows when someone provides a better idea, AND is willing to take action on and give credit where credit is due. He doesn't 'appear' to care about fame, fortune, and power the way many politicians, lobbyists and elites do. He doesn't come across as self-absorbed and self-important AT ALL.

First time I have ever watched an interview of Mr. Musk and a candid one at that. This was great insight into him without a spin by the media. Might have changed the lens from which I am viewing all that is happening in the world.

From conquering his Aspergers to his devotion to his companies to his technological visionary views....I really admire and like Elon Musk even more than already did, now after watching this exchange. Great talk! I appreciate and can relate to his "obsession with truth". That's an admirable quality, really. Always a treat to see and hear more of Chris Anderson, too!

Everything about Tesla is crazy! The battery life, the tail lights, the interior etc.
Tesla stocks is the best of them all! I have always hoped to invest in Tesla stocks one day but the thought of doing so without enough knowledge of the stocks market makes the whole thing less attractive to me. One cannot afford to lose any money in this era.

This man will be one of the men of our century and perhaps more. Truly a genius at work leading humanity towards the future not by weapons technology and cold war, but by loving humanity and not caring only about economic gain. In modern science and technology, this man will be remembered amongst the greats.

This really expanded my view of Elon Musk, seeing how sensitive he is to the difficulties we face and yet how stubbornly hopeful he is that we can build a better world. You can feel it really matters to him. We need more of this optimism and principle in the people we allow to dictate the path of our future. I wish him well.

He’s a dreamer with knowledge and also an amazing business mind. Everything needs money, including research. Nothing is free in life. That includes time for everyone involved, scientists, biologists, psychologists, ergonomists, and geologists. He has an obscene amount to pay for the best because he has worked with his mind. It’s nothing less than working hard physically for money. Money that you want to work for you instead of always paying to earn that money

Elon's willingness to be vulnerable on a global stage is one of his most remarkable qualities that I think is overlooked. He doesn't use Aspergers as a crutch but instead provides an honest and what sounds to me as a raw experience in his childhood navigating his environment as a means of relatability. Notwithstanding, like so many others have commented on this thread, Elon being one of the greatest minds of any generation. We are fortunate to have him trying to advance humanity forward not just through technology but also by creating dialogue regarding the importance of maintaining what our founding fathers envisioned for free speech.

I agree with him on keeping the speech free and not deleting people's posts, even if they're wrong or dangerous. We saw what happened, even if the post posed an unfavorable position, deleting it only escalates things. Keep the post up, but allow people to criticize the post. It's not good enough to delete people's stupid posts, you have to explain to them in simple terms and with references, why the post is wrong. Even if the post is hate speech or dangerous, it's been my observation that deleting it only puts fuel on the fire. Then the people pushing the narratives in the post have an opportunity to take advantage and say, "see they deleted my post, they don't want you know the truth." And that's why half the country is believing easy to debunk conspiracy theories.

Thanks to TED, this interview is very enriching. Elon Musk is such a refreshing voice for the no voices in the world. Freedom of speech is real Elon. I am sure he will put restrictions on certain commendations. He has to follow the laws of free speech. If we can have Tic Tok, we can have freedom of speech on tweeter.. You will never be able to please everybody, but Elon is doing a fabulous job at..

Just WOW! What an amazing mind... I didn't notice him stuttering at first until I glanced at the comments then reviewed a bit... my mind just followed him explaining his incredible ideas for the near future. My mind works way to fast most times, and never really shuts off--a blessing and curse depending on the situation. I totally get him...if I wasn't 3/12 years younger .... :)

I absolutely love that Elon doesn't give a damn about the economics and he's doing it for humanitarian reasons. An enormously thoughtful man. And it is quite interesting to me knowing what I do about autistic people that he possesses a great deal of empathy which is rather unusual. That is not to say all aspies don't have empathy, but it is a symptom that many of them don't have. I believe he is blessed and being guided by God whether he knows it or not. It's really irrelevant. He is much closer to God than he would like to admit to himself.

I have been watching very Elon Musk interview since 2013, and this one is among the best. The overwhelming impression for me from all the cues in his interviews is that he is scrupulously honest, cares deeply about humanity, is massively driven to make the future better. It amazes me that there are still people out there who consider him a liar and a fraud.

I am by no means a network coder, but it sounds like Elon's suggestion of open-sourcing the algorithm turns Twitter into a sort of Wikipedia where everyone is supposed to democratically decide on content. This idea, to me, works better than shadow overseers quietly banning speech based on their assumptions of what is appropriate and what is not. Not easy or clean by any stretch of the imagination, but a step in the right direction in turns of platform transparency and user freedoms. This will definitely be a learning process and I'm not entirely sure Elon will end up keeping Twitter for long, but at least someone is trying keep electronic discourse as close to constitutionally protected rights as possible.

It is hard to understand how Tesla is so anti "right to repair" because when you listen to Elon Musk it must be something he would embrace instead. Hard to combine his vision with Tesla's reality today. I mean having to buy a whole new battery pack when a nozzle breaks does not sound sustainable and caring for the environment to me. Or the inability to replace just the broken cells instead of replacing all, prompting a Finnish Tesla owner to blow up his car instead. It is a strange contradiction to what Elon expresses in talks like these.
