PRODUCTS MENTIONED⤵
Thorne Labs NR (Nicotinamide Riboside with Resveratrol and TMG) on their official website: https://thor.ne/Xy4Pw
(you can often find a coupon for their site) or available on Amazon $48 for 60 capsules https://amzn.to/3miUQQd
Update!!! I have been taking a brand of NMN that I really trust and for anyone interested, they do not sell on Amazon. They do sell here on their main website: https://bit.ly/3mkiLio
(use this link to get 10% off your order). Recently they came out with liposomal NMN +, NAD+ & NR in one product and it's currently my favorite supplement: https://bit.ly/3OzIb8n
. Use the code: 248555 to get 10% off.
I've linked directly to the product I prefer taking, which is their pure powder NMN that can be taken sublingually. They offer such a variety of products that offer different methods to take the NMN. The company is also well-established and has been around for over a decade. They have excellent customer service as well.

I had a very mild symptoms of COVID last year....I tested positive! I thought I'd die from COVID. I have hypertension so I worried a lot. It was so timely that my niece brought me NMN Vitruvin supplement which I was taking two weeks before I tested positive. Later I found out that that supplement saved me from dying. Coz not only it improved my health, it also cured the symptoms for days.

I'm 68 and have been taking a gram of NMN daily for almost four months. The results are fantastic. I have more energy than I have ever had, even when I was young. But what I have found is that to be really effective, the NMN has to be supplemented with exercise. It seems to give me a little more energy to exercise, and if I take advantage of that and do exercise, the energy multiplies, and keeps multiplying the more exercise I do, till I start craving exercise all the time and jump on the exercise bike every chance I get. But if I can't exercise, the effects of the NMN are not so noticeable. BTW, haven't noticed any effect on my skin so far.

I have taken NR for four years, and upped my dose to 900 mg about two years ago. I am 72 and feel about 45. I haven't been sick from anything, and my skin is now smooth rather than rough as it has been on my elbows and knees.

I also started taking NR about the same time that you did. I had a massive boost in energy that lasted for a few weeks, then faded away. Since then, I've switched back and forth between NR and NMN, but I've not experienced that initial surge again. Recently, I started watching Dr. Brad Stanfield's channel. He did some research on different NMN brands, and found that a lot of them when tested actually had no NMN in them! Life is complicated, and it's hard to figure out what is really having an effect, but I think that I've had a better experience with NR than with NMN, but that could entirely be because my NR is from TRU Niagen (from the guy that initially found NR), and that the NMN brands that I've been taking all pretty much are crap. So that says little about the actual relative effectiveness of NR vs NMN. (Though it say a lot about the supplement business).
Part of what makes evaluation so difficult is that when I get more energy, I tend to spend it all exercising. Which makes me more tired the next day. But I feel that when I'm exercising, and coming into it rested, that the NR does still help. I think another part of being human that makes evaluation more difficult is the way that we reset our expectations to the new normal. Sure, I might have more energy now, but I'm exercising harder, and overall feel the same.
In any case, right now I'm taking niacin, NR, resveratrol, and TMG.

Can I just say that your NAD levels at your age is still pretty high - it decreases rapidly with age. I started taking NMN, TMG and other anti ageing supplements I can afford. 4 years ago The company I use is a British company called DoNotAge it only produces pure products and explains each supplement and it’s benefits it has a group of scientific researchers who are on the cutting edge of this subject, you don’t sound as if you have looked into these things in an in-depth way. David Sinclair has written a book about NMN and the science of ageing and becoming ill, He says ageing is an illness and and we don’t need to have it. He believes in Health span, rather than lifespan although he thinks that age will be extended. My own experience of starting taking in NMN at 70 has drastically changed my life. I can go up ten flights of stairs never touching the hand rails without noticing it, not so before when I was noticing the tole age was having on my health and abilities. people of forty are huffing and puffing while I race ahead !!. Don’t be so uncertain find out about things, never buy things off Amazon most are fakes & the reviews are even more so. Go and look at Vince’s site my NMN experiment. He stared taking NMN 3 years ago and he roots out the fake sellers there is a recent review on the types of products sold on Amazon & Amazon itself is currently banning fake products. Hope you read this and it helps.

NR and NMN deplete the body of methyl groups, which leads to elevated levels of homocysteine. That increases heart attack risk. In order to counteract this effect, you need to be taking TMG along with your NR. Also, niacin is another precursor of NAD and it is dirt cheap if you don't mind the flushing side effect. Sustained-release niacin and extended-release niacin don't cause flushing, but sustained-release niacin is associated with liver damage and I take plain old niacin (500mg) to be on the safe side.

I had a very similar experience with increase in energy levels when I started taking NMM supplements as you had when you started the NR. It was quite pronounced, a really kind of clean, motivated energy. I’m not sure if I still feel like that, I think my baseline energy has improved a lot so I don’t notice the effect anymore. I have a much more pressured job that I never though I would keep up with before. I exercise most days. It’s definitely not a cure all… I’ve still had colds etc but I feel healthier at 43 than I did in a lot of my twenties to be honest! That’s probably down to a lot of other factors also.

I’ve been on the fence about trying this supplement for awhile because of how expensive it is. But you’ve convinced me to give it a try! Also you said the energy levels you first experienced with it have gone down since. So how are your energy levels taking it now?? Is it still better then before you started taking it?? Thankyou in advance 🤗🥰plus your channel is becoming one of my favorites!😁🥰

I started on NMN just yesterday from a company called rev genetics in the US. I have a number of health issues, heart disease and angina and go through some very difficult days sometimes.
I'd been feeling dreadfual since Monday, my NMN arrived Tuseday and I took a double dose to start with then went to the single dose in the evening, and had a single dose this morning.
I continued to feel absolutely dreadful mentally but around 5pm I went out and did some shopping.
I didn't notice anything at first but the further I walked the more I realised I was speeding up, and on my way back from shopping I was racing down the road. My legs just seemed to want to work as fast as they could and with ease too, I haven't been able to walk like that in years.
I didn't expect results so quickly, it will be interesting to see where this leads.

Hey, your review of NR is very convincing. I've been taking resveratrol for years. I realized early on that this was a special compound. I like the fact that Thorne has this along with quercetin and TMG, all in one capsule. Ordered some just now!!

I still haven't taken any of this yet. Researching. Very close to my isolated testing. Your testimonial and the comments are excellent.
I just may try NR now before trying NMN based on your testimonial. Learning about both as precursors. I will eventually test out NAD straight, too, thru IV.
I hear the benefits of NMN with trans-resveratrol. I wonder if I could try NR with trans-resveratrol... Will research. I saw that Versa has a good NMN.
Wow, TMG, thanks. This is chock-full of value. Not rambling! Watching this for the second time.. Great content.

Started taking 100mg NR supplements 2 weeks ago, 1 pill per day, plus resveratrol. I have been running 5 minutes more than usual and I have not felt tired at all afterwards. My muscles feel stronger. I cannot notice anything with regards to my skin yet, but let's see what happens as time goes on. It may be placebo effect, but it's a hell of an effect!

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. I started taking Alive By Science about 2 years ago. I felt the same, a ton of energy and youthfulness. I also took 500 mg of Resveratrol, which after a couple weeks... caused my blood sugar levels to be super high and didn’t feel right. Later, I had some labs done and have 1 of the 4 methyl groups affected. So, now I take Thorne Research (ResveraCel) once or twice a week and just started with Alive By Science - SC NMN capsules (TMG + zinc) intermittently between the ReveraCel. So far so good. The SC NMN capsules are a time release, which is great. Hope this all helps with my experience and helpful.

Update to previous comment: I take 30mg NMN capsules from revgenetics and I find the product to be phenomenal. I've noticed that those who experience almost immediate energy benefits tend to be over 50, though some under 50's also experience rapid results.
So if you're under 50 and don't notice any immediate benefits, just keep taking it.
There's been phenomenal changes to my skin which has turned very light (I'm brown skinned) and it's texture has never felt so good.
My hair was quite long when I started the NMN and it started to go a yellow colour. My Barber laughed when he saw it and suggested there was someting wrong with my shampoo. He gave me the pony tail as he cut it off!
But now my normally very white hair is resuming it's natural colour, slowly but very noticeably.
My eyebrows give it away most as they are also normally white but it now looks as if I ave two dirty marks over my eyes but is only the hair resuming colour.
You can over do the NMN.
I've heard that it starts being effective when you take between 300mg and 2000mg, but it's different for the capsule form. 30mg twice daily is enough for positive changes and there are days when I take up to 400mg but you csn't do that for more than two days as it leaves you absolutely exhausted....but I believe that also benefits the body.
So my recommendation for the capsules is one twice daily for the first week or until you feel it's tiring you then give it a break for up to a week or even two.
Then go back to the twice daily dose. When you notice physical changes you might want to increase the dose for a couple of days.
I also take Quercetin and Resveratrol, and was taking TA65 too.
TA65 is the only supplement proven to increase telomere length in humans but I get no energy boosts from it, I think it's more of a 'silent' product.
I take Quercetin when the NMN starts to exhaust me as I believe this is the best time to take it.
Resveratrol shouldn't be taken regularly and I wouldn't purchase it in a combined form, I think that could be counter productive.
High intake of Broccolli or Brussells sprouts can be taken as well as or in place of Quercetin.
All in all, I think the product I'm taking is excellent, but have no knowledge of taking NMN in powder form.

Hi Holly, very informative and interesting.
Great introduction to NR and NMN; very helpful.
Re: energy levels; purely anecdotal, but it seems from the comments on my channel that the be people who noticeably feel a boost in energy etc. are those who were either older or were more sedentary, this may also support the theory that a body really needs it.
I would be interested to know more about your reason for not buying from Infinite Age any more.
I agree, every time I upped my dosage of NMN I had increased appetite and disturbed sleep too :(

When I started taking NR and NMM with resveratrol I had the most vivid dreams, nothing bad...it was like living two lives and I was excited to go to sleep in the evening. The effect lasted a couple of weeks. The excitement about NMN is that it requires only one reaction to make it into NAD+. David Sinclair seems to think it is slightly more effective then NR but offered no proof. I take a bit of each, NR and NMN, about 500 mg total between them. The other niacin that recharges NAD+ is nicotinic acid, it has it own pathway but requires several chemical reactions for the conversion. I take 500 mg to 750 mg a day...super cheap but it does cause flushing, that is why I take 250 mg at a time, above that and I flush. If you don't go into a deep flush....it feels really cool. :) A full flush with itching sucks. :(

I've been taking NR precursor for a few years now. I feel good. Though I have been doing allot of research into Nuchido Time + supplement. Basically the company states that taking NAD+ precursors only work very minimally and don't actually fix the underlying cause of NAD diminishing with age. They say their supplement fixes the NAD factory and boosts levels far higher... thoughts???

A good video! For resveratrol (fat soluble chem compound), it's better to mix it with fat (extra virgin olive oil is preferred due to oleic acid). It also should be trans and micronized.

Oh, you have also inspired me to get my NAD level tested before starting my first NAD precursor. Not sure that I prefer the NAD score from my VA bloodwork. Prefer private testing. Any suggestions on where/who to get my NAD levels checked? Perhaps you stated in your videos. Will rewatch. Will likely test out NR first, then NMN, then that combo product you mention in your other video. Thanks teacher. Great effort and sharing. Love your health comeback. Congratulations!

I felt an instant effect first time taking NMN today. I'll relate it to take 1.5 magic mushroom caps. Like an enlightening. I take resveratrol for a month. I don't get a feeling from it but hope it does it's job. I take that with yogurt and 2 capsules of the cod fat pills. Hopefully this NMN effect stays and hits every dose like this. I might combine my micro dose of mushrooms with NMN next time

That being said, I am happy you had a very positive noticeable effect with the NMN/NR.

I'm into anti-aging and have hypothyroidism and adrenal insufficiency, both medically diagnosed. I fight constant fatigue so I empathize. When I took DHEA with high hopes, I couldn't tolerate it because of my thyroid condition and I'm sure I needed it. Now I've discovered nmn, I'm going to try that and resveratrol and hope I can take it. I exercise, eat mostly vegetarian, I don't feel or look my condition or my age. I wonder how it would work if I also take collagen peptide. I can go really hard and if you can too, you doing well. You may want to see an endocrinologist though if you haven't already. Thanks.

I am also low energy. I was feeling so bad, I told my Dr. if this was the rest of my life I did not want to live. She did test and I was D deficient. The first day I took D3 I was zinging, my body ate it up. So I totally agree that we may get a reaction as our bodies gobble up a nutrient it has lacked.

I've taken for first time 125mg NMN and taking about 50mg now every other day + 50 mg Niacin daily . Before this a month of Nicotinamide 250mg.
Searching led me to switch out as maybe issue with nicotinamide. Although felt improvements in memory, skin complexion with NE. This is the First time sustained energy release and feel vital as well as cognitive improvement niacin also seems to help with BP meaning a little less BP meds for me. I am on a busy night shift and it's doing wonders for mental stamina just feel good I'm my body. A caution earlier though I did have a racing pulse 1 hour after but I am bit sensitive to medicine that has calmed down drink plenty water. I will stay at this dose taking every other day and nmn every other day for some months. I feel that's alight for my system and may build to 125mg a day. Just have to know your own body.

I did NMN for 6 months. I didn’t receive any noticeable benefits or side effects. I routinely get my blood work done and I never saw any changes . My blood pressure and oxygen levels stayed the same. I also did not notice any differences with my workout output or cosmetic changes. My cardio levels remained the same. And definitely no hair regrowth! I stopped taking it because of the cost and there’s just not a lot of human trials. First, I’m a healthy 43 years who eats a healthy diet and I don’t smoke or drink. As more research gets published, I may try it again in the future. For those looking at NMN or NR for ‘energy’ I did not get any energy boost. For sustainable energy, I’ve found healthy diet, matcha, vitamin D3, zinc, quercetin, k2 stack worked very well for me.

After seeing experiments on the prevention of premature aging, I see the conclusion that substance supplements such as MNM, etc. only contribute less than 10%, while premature aging activities by way of fitness and diet and keto fasting show more prevention of premature aging >50% , so a substance taken orally that is believed to prevent premature aging is no better than a combination of fitness - diet - fasting.
greater bone density ensures the prevention of further premature aging.

Just saw they are selling them in UK too, hurrey! Costly but so is a gym membership which you could do at home instead (if I had energy haha). 2 months away from giving birth, but once I'm finished breastfeeding I will go straight on them! Thank you so much for the recommendation as it's hard to know which are fake, like you said some companies are questionable! Side note, recently read that pregnancy shortens your telomeres by about 10 years, so anything with a boost is welcome! :) x

To hear someone struggle to gain something that others naturally possess should push all of us to have a little more to show for it. It would be a very good idea to have a full blood test done before taking any supplements. I had mine checked and found my folic acid and b12 levels to be borderline low. After sorting that out I feel 100 times better.
It would be dangerous to mask a problem that has potential irreversible effects by taking something else.

Guys please take NR instead of NMN. In my research I found that NMN needs cold storage, otherwise it breaks into other non beneficial compounds. So therefore most NMN are rendered useless in storage and shipping already

I get a similar boost in mood and energy with certain anti-inflammatory products. The effect does diminish after the first month. Ultimately you need to “cycle” the product, for it to continue to work (with the exception of essential nutrients you are deficient in). If you want to look into the nutrient side of things, I had great results from Spectracell nutrient testing (although it’s pricey). If anyone wants to try an inexpensive anti-inflammatory for mood and energy, high-dose melatonin (20 mg at bedtime) is a good option (it enters the blood and crosses the BBB much more effectively than other products). I’ve also had good results from taking zinc lozenges 3-4 times per day and a spoonful of high quality olive oil with breakfast and dinner (these probably worked due to nutrient deficiency). Everyone is different, but that’s what worked for me.

Hello! You popped up in my feed tonight most likely because I am a huge DIY fanatic of everything & have been reading up again on NMN & NR. I loved your vid because like you I have hypothyroid, suffer from terrible insomnia as well as have several other health issues on board. I used to be a competative athlete & am a polar opposite now.. Anyhow I have so many questions for you from several standpoints. I also come from a licensed beauty, skin, hair, health backgrounds so I’m greatly interested to see if you noticed anything in the way of skin brightening, smoothness, firmness, hair health like thicker or reversal in greys? Also curious to know how things are for you now as far as energy stuff goes.. I’ve tried so many things over the years but ultimately they seem to plateau so I end up taking little breaks from all of it basically. Anyhow I would so love to hear an up to date sort of recap on how your feeling now, results you have seen up to present with each of these areas. I am so glad to have found you & look forward to watching all your vids! Thanks so much for sharing your info! Take care.

Anecdotal evidence on my part. Changed over from 300MG to 500MG last week. Instantly felt the rush of energy and can breathe better. On the treadmill at the gym was able to change the incline from 3.5 to 4.5 and monitored my heart rate and it did not exceed 116BPS. After 30 mins, felt like I could go another 30 mins at 10.8MPH.

ResveraCel is a bad experiment for testing NMN. The problem is this supplement contains other nutraceuticals like Quercetin, Resveratrol, and Trimethylglycine (TMG). The Resveratrol could be stimulating fasted metabolism. The TMG on its own would be highly energizing if you have methylation defects since it would provide a new path to bring homocysteine back to methionine in the methylation cycle.
My guess is that your symptom of feeling very hungry after taking the Thorne supplement is the Resveratrol. Find a pure Resveratrol and see if that symptoms duplicates without taking Thorne.
If you want to test NMN, then buy a few different pure NMN and NR supplements and compare the effects with each of these.

What is the best way to take NADH? I was researching and a lot of people say you have to take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach… They say this because some people were reporting feeling ill if they took it with food. I also think I have methylation issues so I take TMG with it… This is also suggested to take on an empty stomach… Any thoughts on this or do you have any experience with us?

I always think it's funny when some girl in her 20's or early 30's tries to teach people how to look young/younger. Wait until you're around 38-40, then come back to make tutorials & talk to us. At that point is when you'll fully understand from real experience what it's like to age.

Just a quick note---- I'm sure you know this, but I'll recap in case anyone doesn't.
Tsh(thyroid stimulating hormone) gets higher when your 'furnace' needs to produce more energy.
You then create t4 which is converted to t3 which is your furnace energy.
Typical treatment for hypothyroid is t4(synthroid, etc) that you body converts to t3 for energy.
If the conversion doesn't work as well for you (remember it takes a while to ramp up), then you have a couple options.
One is to supplement with t3(cytomel) as well as t4, which will get you going. Or,...... take armour thyroid that has t4 and t3 in it.
The second option worked better for me, easier to control.
switching from t4(synthroid, etc) to amour thyroid (which has t4 and t3).

In this episode, Rhonda explains what NAD+, why it is so important for aging and why it declines with age. She discusses some of the popular NAD+ boosters like nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide, what animal and human data says and some concluding thoughts.
NAD+ is crucial for our survival. Small amounts of it can be obtained in the diet, but the body recycles it to get most of what it needs. Unfortunately, day to day living plus normal aging can cause NAD+ levels to drop. This causes metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction, as well as many of the other problems and conditions associated with aging like elevated DNA damage. NAD+ levels can go up when we exercise or fast, but NAD+ precursors like nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide can also increase NAD+ levels in a dose-dependent manner. However, most of the data on NAD+ boosters comes from animal studies. Whether these boosters are effective – and safe – long-term in humans is still a big question.

00:00:00 - Intro.
00:00:48 - Nicotinamide riboside supplementation in humans has been shown to raise NAD+ levels in white blood cells.
00:02:47 - Overview of NAD+
00:05:12 - NAD+ plays an important role in mitigating DNA damage.
00:05:30 - Excessive DNA damage can decrease NAD+ levels by 20-30%.
00:05:42 - Lymphoblastoid cells from centenarians show increased PARP-1 activity.
00:05:55 - Between different species of mammals, higher PARP-1 activity is strongly associated with a longer lifespan.
00:06:36 - Lower organism evidence: A second copy of SIR2, a yeast sirtuin, gave rise to a 30% extension of lifespan.
00:06:43 - NAD+ is required for the activation of sirtuins, which epigenetically regulate a variety of stress response-related processes.
00:07:03 - Energy stress, such as from fasting, exercise, or caloric restriction, increase the NAD+:NADH ratio.
00:07:37 - NAD+ becomes depleted in the brain, heart, and skeletal muscle as we age.
00:08:13 - Decline in NAD+ levels have been associated with many broad categories of clinical disease such as neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, infectious, musculoskeletal.
00:08:48 - NAD+ supplementation has been shown to increase lifespan in models of aging in yeast, worms, and rodents.
00:09:48 - In contrast to de novo synthesis, the predominant source of NAD+ in the body is via the salvage pathway, which is subject to feedback inhibition by nicotinamide.
00:11:56 - Animal studies have shown nicotinamide riboside supplementation is able to increase insulin sensitivity, increase endurance and strength, reverse mitochondrial damage, increase mitochondrial biogenesis, and reverse muscular atrophy.
00:12:30 - Nicotinamide riboside has shown positive effects on the brain in animal, such as increased neurogenesis, decreased cognitive deterioration, decreased amyloid-beta production, and increased synaptic plasticity.
00:12:50 - Nicotinamide mononucleotide has been shown in animals to counter an obesogenic diet, improve markers of metabolic health, improve heart function, and improve cognition and memory.
00:13:10 - A 12-month dietary study of nicotinamide mononucleotide suppressed age-associated body weight gain, enhanced energy metabolism, promoted physical activity, improved insulin sensitivity and plasma lipid profile, and ameliorated eye function and other pathophysiologies in mice.
00:13:47 - NMN has been shown to increase cancer progression in a specialized senescent cell-dependent pancreatic cancer model in mice.
00:15:57 - Plausibility of dosing: comparing animal and human doses.
00:18:05 - Tissue-specific metabolism and bioavailability of NR and NMN.
00:24:32 - Oral administration of NAD produces NR and NMN in the intestine.
00:24:19 - Intravenous administration of NAD, rather than its precursors, shows interesting results: an increase of NAD content and sirtuin expression in the hypothalamic region of the brain.
00:26:15 - Human study #1: 250mg of NR + 50 mg pterostilbene increased blood NAD+ levels by 40%, while a double dose (500 mg NR + 100 mg pterostilbene) increased blood NAD+ levels by 90%. Additionally, there was a decrease in blood pressure, and ALT (a marker for liver health).
00:27:12 - Human study #2: 500mg NR twice daily for six weeks increased NAD+ levels in white blood cells by 60%.
00:29:08 - Concluding thoughts and recap.

I’ve been taking 750mg of NMN + 500mg resveratrol for 6 months. I’m 61 and in good, but far from great shape. My muscle stamina and overall energy are way higher than when I began. I also have noticeable reduction in inflammation in my leg that was damaged in an accident and where it had been chronic for many years. The reduction in inflammation alone keeps me on it, but feeling a lot better is great too.

I've been taking a low doseage of NMN for a couple of weeks now. I started with 100mg in the morning and 50mg at night on the first day, then 50mg the next morning. I hadn't been expecting any results for at least a week or so. About 2 hours after taking that second morning dose I went out shopping and was astonished to find my legs wanting to walk faster and faster, as if under their own volition. I've not walked like that in almost 7 years.
I've had a number of strokes and suffer numerous symptoms, manly to do with inhibitted activity levels.
My mind is foggy most of the time and the NMN has not done anything for that, but I certainly feel the difference in energy levels, it's really amazing.
I also found that after a few days I had to stop the NMN for a couple of days as it seemed to be making me feel more groggy, so I now take it 2 days on, 2 days off.
The brand I'm using is an American Brand called RevGenetics, and it's called Advanced NMN, in capsule form. I know it's also available in powder form too. It's quite expensive even in capsule form and would cost the earth to take it regularly at the doseages recommended in this video, but I can assure anyone that the effects at the doseage I am on are truly amazing.

Rhonda, I've heard Dr. Sinclair say he takes 1gram of NMN daily but in reading his book and listening to multiple interviews I'm not sure on the best time metabolically to dose and if there is a "minimum effective" single dose. Currently, I take 250 mg, 3 to 4 times per day sublingually but it occurred to me that each one of these single doses may be below the threshold of effectiveness...

Great video Rhonda!
I was wondering if it makes sense to take a NR/NMN supplement while also ingesting carbs/protein/fat.
As you also explain in the video, the NAD/NADH ratio in the cell increases when fasting/CR/exercising.
Then such a NAD boosting supplement would need to be taken in a fasted state wouldn't it?
Or is the pathway of either NR/NMN supplement somehow separated from the metabolic pathway when a cell is in a fasted state?

I'm 66 years old. I started taking 1g a day of Apigenin a few months ago. Apigenin is one of the ways to raise NAD+. It is amazing how much energy I have now. It feels like the energy that I remember having in my 30s. In addition, in conversation with my neighbors, they have commented that I seem to look younger every year, instead of older. I also take Metformin, even though I do not have diabetes. I also do a lot of intermittent, 3 day water fasts. I'm planning to start on 1g of Fisetin a day for 5 straight days every month in the next few weeks.
My diet is free of meat. I do eat sardines, salmon and flounder. Lots of nuts (Walnuts, Cashews), seeds (Flax, Hemp, Chia). Dark Chocolate (80% cocoa). I do drink lots of coffee. I don't drink cow milk but almond milk instead. I don't drink alcohol.

Wow talk about informative video thank you , I’ve been taking a product which contains Nicotinamide 250 mg twice a day with botanical mix alpha lipoic acid vitamin c and zinc which apparently works on the salvage pathway you have described.
The company claim that Despite all the hype surrounding the use of precursors such as NR and NMN to boost NAD+, our cells actually make nearly all of the NAD+ they need using NAM ,as you described in your presentation.
They go on to say That “as we get older, levels of the NAMPT enzyme are known to decline and the salvage pathway becomes inefficient at converting NAM into NAD+. In fact this is known to be one of the main reasons that cellular NAD+ declines as we get older. This means that if we want to make sure that NAM doesn’t build up in the cell, then we must make sure that NAMPT and the salvage pathway are working optimally, like they were in young cells. Rather than simply trying to fix falling NAD+ levels by putting more raw material into the cell (using precursors) the product is designed to fix the underlying reasons why NAD+ is actually declining, namely the failing salvage pathway.
I am however concerned of the effect of Nicotinamide on sirt2, they claim however that Nicotinamide does not effect sirtuins if it doesn’t hang around for a long time when the salvage pathway is working properly . I just wondered what your thoughts are on this. Again many thanks for your very detailed video

Many thanks for this detailed walk through! I think correctly identified this is all at an early stage of discovery - perhaps usefully highlighting the key importance of NAD in the cell energy economy, but (to my mind) now pointing to the need to reduce NAD depletion. A whole food plant based (WFPB) diet being inherently low inflammation - perhaps best indicated by White Blood Cell count: https://nutritionfacts.org/video/what-is-the-ideal-white-blood-cell-count/
Also points to a need to remove senescent cells regularly - probably by a number of 5 day water fasts over the year. Lastly - not a bad shout to pay attention to Vit B3 status - if this is insufficient NAD production is likely to be throttled... Thanks Rhonda for this review - appreciated!

** Due to a serious case of mold poisoning I have been on NAD+ IV's for 6 months... they literally saved my life.. I have never had oral NMN or NR. However I would highly recommend anyone with a health issue try NAD+ IV's. There are numerous accounts of people turning their life around due to NAD IV's not precursors. Best wishes to each of you!

Very interesting. From your video's from Satchin Panda I learned the benefits of time restricted eating regaring insulin sensitivity, sleep, cardiovascular aspect etcetera. Do you have any information whether NAD+ increases also with time restricted feeding and which window of eating you should use? Or is there only information about fasting and increasing NAD+ and if that is the case how long you should fast for increasing NAD+.

It sounds like senolytics should be taken with NAD+ boosters to mitigate the potential for renegade senescent pancreatic cells. David Sinclair also mentioned that Niacinamide inhibits Sirtuins, but since it is also converted to NAD+ that didn't make sense to me. The saturated conversion pathway may explain that, but then the question becomes at what dosage of Niacinamide does the pathway reach saturation? At least one publication by Hwang and Song, ("Nicotinamide is an inhibitor of SIRT1 in vitro, but can be a stimulator in cells." Cell Mol Life Sci. 2017 Sep;74(18) ) suggests that since Niacinamide is rapidly converted to NAD+ in cells it only temporarily inhibits Sirtuins followed by an increase in NAD+ and increase in Sirtuin activity. If this interpretation is correct it opens the possibility of using a much less expensive compound as an NAD+ booster and Sirtuin activator. Do you have any additional information or thoughts on the potential of Niacinamide as an NAD+ booster?

Great summary of the topic! I was desperately trying to find actual human published data about NAD+ decreasing with age, but other then the two studies you mentioned, couldn't find much. In those two studies though, sertuin activity actually didn't decrease; there was significant difference between men and women, and the NAD+ decrease was extremely small (vs. the 50% David Sinclair commonly mentions), and in fact looking at the graph, it was quite variable, with some 30 year olds having the same level as 60+.. .so I really wonder if the marked "decrease" in NAD+ everybody goes on and on about is actually a comparison of an active 20 year old vs. a sedentary, unhealthy 50-60 year old; ie. isn't the life style more important than the horrendously expensive NMN and NR supplements?

Hi Doc, I've seen some research on NAD+/NADH and the potential anti-aging benefits... could you comment on that? and also would it make a difference in whether you take NAD+ or NADH supplements? I also read in some journals that the NAD+/NADH ratio changes as we age but I'm not sure if there is enough research to support that... your input would very much be appreciated!!!

Continuous replenishment of NAD promotes the proliferation and survival of fast-dividing cancer cells because elevated NAD levels enhance glycolysis via glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) that require NAD as a co-enzyme (12, 13).Dec 12, 2018

Young individuals should take Resveratrol at night while older people should take it midday for the greatest effectiveness. If you’re 40 or above, I suggest you to take NMN. Just so you know, Resveratrol is needed to activate the sirtuin genes (which protect our DNA and epigenome), while NMN is needed to fuel the sirtuins. However, resveratrol is difficult to be absorbed by the gut, and the little resveratrol that ends up in the body is broken down very quickly. I take NMN Vitruvin brand for the first time, and so glad it didn't fail me.

Hi! I just came across this channel. I am currently an accountant but I am back in school because pursuing a career in science seems much more fulfilling to me.
I have a question, is your understanding at a level such that you look at organic molecules and functional groups and know what reactions will/can occur? Or is it that you deeply understand certain sets of reactions from seeing them over and over? Also, do you have any recommendations on how to develop an unconscious competence in this area ahead of my studies? Thanks!
