The Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration was a 2001 concert show and television special by Michael Jackson. It was staged in Madison Square Garden in New York City on September 7 and 10, 2001. In late November 2001, the CBS television network aired the concerts as a two-hour special in honor of Jackson's thirtieth year as a solo entertainer (his first solo single, "Got to Be There", was recorded in 1971). The show was edited from footage of the two performances. The show was watched by 30 million viewers on CBS when it aired later the same year.
The shows sold out in 2 hours. Ticket prices were among the most expensive ever for an event; the best seats cost $10,000 and included a dinner with Jackson and a signed poster. The show was choreographed by Glenn Douglas Packard and Brian Thomas, who were nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography. It was presented by David Gest, World Events LLC, and Clear Channel Entertainment. Jackson reportedly earned $7.5 million for each of the two concerts. The concert's official box-office taking was $10,072,105 for both concerts.
To some fans, Jackson appeared more disoriented in the first concert, as he only did one short moonwalk and improvised the ending of the "Billie Jean" performance. In 2011, presenter David Gest claimed that Jackson was on drugs during the concerts in the documentary Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon; however, Jackson himself explained that he merely had not rehearsed for the first concert. Contradictorily, in his book You Are Not Alone: Michael Through a Brother's Eyes, brother Jermaine Jackson said that during this time Michael was taking Demerol, a pain-relieving medicine with psychotropic effects. The show attracted numerous celebrities, including basketball players, actors, and other musicians. The two concerts were the only times Jackson performed any song from from his album "Invincible" live. - Wikipedia

I wonder if there will be anyone else watching Michael Jackson's videos in 2022?
Well here I am. Here in Mexico City on March 30, 2020 watching, enjoying and of course missing that extraordinary artist and beautiful human being that Michael Jackson was. And the more I see and hear him, the more I admire it. Michael in my opinion was not only The King of pop, rock and soul. He was also an extraordinary humanist , activist and a extremely sensitive men.
I think Michael had more than one mission in his life and he fulfilled them all. My only regret is that she didn't have more time to see her children grow up. Honestly, both in life and after his death, Michael did make a better world to me.

I was blessed to have been able to attend the MJ 30th anniversary show at MSG on 9/10/01. The show was amazing and energy that evening was surreal. Unfortunately less than 24hrs later the world would change forever. RIP MJ The GOAT. RIP All victims of 9/11.

I'm from NYC and will NEVER forget watching this on TV on September 10. ALL the kids were talking about it school the morning. I had just started 7th grade. Unfortunately 9/11 happened a few hours later and I went to school in downtown Manhattan. Sad times and a crazy day but still magical whenever MJ was around.

He defied the laws of Physics. He was a true humanitarian. If he were alive today he would make a better place for the less-fortunate and more. A lot of people would have learned from him. He never judged anybody, yet mostly people judged him. There will never be another MJ. Thank you for all your wonderful entertaining that you have given the world to enjoy over and over again. You enjoy life in God's kingdom.

Thank you for uploading this with the original commercials, lol. Seeing it since 2001 was everything. I smiled wide and cried like it I was 16 all over again. And to see so many influenced by MJ warmed my heart. Music is so different without him but it's a blessing to have had these moments to remember Michael's greatest hits and moments.

Lol 😆.... Chris still did the wrong leg...brought Michael down to the ground laughing. That was a great way to end the show. Not to mention the Billy Jean set. Awesome 👌 Not sure why this show came as a suggestion but I'm sure glad it did. Thanks for the upload.

SO MANY MEMORIES! I became an instant fan when the Jackson Five released their first album, and I’m still a fan. Not only that, my sister and I begged our parents to buy tickets for the J5 (that’s what some of us fans called them back in the 70s) concert in Seattle Washington. We were living in Tacoma at the time, so our family and one of my friends who was also a J5 fan went there in our blue Chevy station wagon. When we got to downtown Seattle, a long white limousine passed us, and we caught a glimpse of the Jacksons talking to each other and laughing. We immediately erupted into very loud screams, which caused our little brother to start raucously laughing. Our parents didn’t see the limo, so they thought the three of us were being way too emotional over “them Jackson boys concert”. 🥺🙁 Then Pops (our nickname for our father) said, “Y’all hallucinating over them Jackson boys!” No, we weren’t. But that got even more excited for the indescribably fantastic show we saw that day in Seattle. The three of us screamed so much that we couldn’t talk after the concert ended. I’ll never forget it! Thank you so much, Jackson brothers! 🥰😍😍😍😍

The best part about this 2001 CBS-TV special was when it became The Jackson 5 + 1. That moment sure did make me feel like I was a little kid in the 70's as well as a youngster in junior high during the 80's. Rest in peace Brother Michael. You still are truly one of the best and the greatest.

Yep I was only seven years old when this first aired and I will never forget it. The VHS quality brings back great memories. This is my favorite childhood memory watching this with my parents downstairs on the big screen tv. When this went to commercial break we turned to SpongeBob on Nick and it was the Kevin Fanclub episode. 😂 I know this is too much information but this anniversary brings me much joy. Everybody was moonwalking in school the next day.
