Love how Professor Michio Kaku explains extremely hard things in an easy way that normal person would understand. Very excited about human future. A big fan of the professor. "Extinction is the norm" - it reminds us all that we are just a tiny atom in this vast universe and that we all should put aside our differences and learn to love/respect each other like there is no tomorrow.

Kaku's thought is on another level. Notice how he never stutters, says "ummm"", "errrr", he has a passion and intelligence which obliterates my mind with awe.
To articulate and explore a universe so well, without remorse and make unknowable jokes in between spaces of death at our presumptuous mortal life that is truly beautiful.

There are very few people in the world who can explain a complex concept in a way that can be understood even by a layman. I adore people like Sam Harris, Brian Green for this very reason. I just found Michio Kaku today and became a huge fan.
Only complaint is, Google could've hired a better interviewer.

I'm a big fan of him. I like how he can explain complex things. But his optimism that he expects humans to be alive hundreds of years from now shows that physicist and climate researchers don't exchange information too often. I put my money on humanity destroying itself way before stepping to the next level of development.

Most genius don't talk lengthy but love of writes superlengthy. Prof. Michio loves to lecture, writes, and teach. But he is best when he give talks because of his incredible sense of humor in which absent to many scientists. You are very lucky if you love to listen to his talks. It gives your brain cells a real job to do than talking & listening to non sense tv program.

Interesting presentation as usual. Two great lotto's that I'm surprised no one has started: 1) name the year (and exact day for tiebreak) that the planet will have its first "Trillionaire"; as ridiculous as it sounds, historical trends indicate that it will happen - and sooner than you think. 2) name the year (and exact day for tiebreak) that humans will land on Mars; the televised and streamed broadcasts will shatter ratings records.

Great talk, with lots to thinks about. Especially his assertion right at the end -- i.e., "We're humans, we have a brain... so we control our destiny."
This is not at all a given. We've been here a few [tens or hundreds of] thousand(s) of years and already face HUGE obstacles of our own making (in addition to natural disasters/extinction events). Dinosaurs roamed the planet for tens of MILLIONS of years. It's not clear yet that our amazing brain and skills have a great effect on our collective longevity or ability to "control our destiny".

As for that last question, he had previously said he thinks we would become a type III civilization within 100,000 years or so, meaning we could control galaxies. If that is true would that mean if you wanted to keep earth as a utopian wildlife reserve we could move it into further elliptical from the sun as it expands so the temperature is ideal for earth? Or could possibly having the power of being a type III civilization allow us to control the expansion of the sun and keep it steady to preserve Earth?
Amazing conversation. I wish I was there so I could have asked this and hear his opinion. I think just having a conversation with him would be really cool.

A few issues with those "ring" black holes: The gravitational difference between specific locations within a "ring" of a black hole would be so significant anywhere near a black hole that minute locational differences in any axis would gravitationally disassemble just about any material known at the atomic/subatomic level. Secondly, the surface speed to create a black hole "ring" would have to exceed the speed of light for the centripetal force to exceed the gravitational force of a black hole. That kind of breaks the rule about light being the speed limit of our universe. Additionally, how do you spin an extra solar mass to achieve surface speeds to and beyond relativistic speeds?

You are giving mankind a great future to discover what God Almighty has created for us human being when Christ was incarnated 2,000 years ago to begin better civilization, and here you are talking what Christ had in mind when He was Born and Died waiting for us to get to explore what God has created us in His image to dwell in eternity in the vastness of the cosmic universe. Just for fact there's also type 5 and type omega civilization, type 5 will escape to multiverse and harness its energy , if it exists, type omega would literally be the God which would be able to do anything to everything and perhaps create new universes at will. Type omega would know everything that their is to know and as I said above , they will be the Gods.

Never mind the veracity of his talks, I should add that I as a person who knows only little about Mr Kaku find him so full of ideas and gallant imagination. On the slippery side, however, I find that he has an answer for everything - his anecdote on type 1, 2, and 3 humans is exhilarating as much as it is quixotic - he has guessed we'd be type 3 humans - the most advanced species that has access to the Planck energy and for whom time and space is unstable - in the next 1,00,000 years. How do you reach there - what kind of extrapolation has he applied? In Kaku's own words, "Talk about parametrizing the future."

I don't agree with Kaku using the analogy of an ant hill when comparing humans to advanced alien civilizations as though that's how they would think of us. An advanced alien civilization would recognize a sentient species like themselves, primitive though we may be in our current stage of development. They would still recognize a species intelligent enough to split the atom and clawing its way to the next level of its development to a type 1. The aliens would probably say to themselves "these humans are not at all unlike our ancestors 100,000 years ago." In fact they could be observing us right now and comparing the rate of our progress to their own. We normally don't think that way about ants, chimpanzees maybe, but not ants.

Michio is unjustifiably sanguine about AI. Its going to advance faster than he thinks and it will be difficult to reign in, and could take over the World. AI could be self aware in a few decades and the risk is it may kick ass before a chip can be installed to 'govern' them...
