Dr. David Sinclair, professor of genetics at Harvard Medical School, has been leading the way in his research on aging and longevity mechanisms. Dr. Sinclair is the founding director of the Paul F. Glenn Laboratories, for the Biological Mechanisms of Aging at Harvard.
In 2004, Sinclair, along with Andrew Perlman, Christoph Westphal, Richard Aldrich, Richard Pops, and Paul Schimmel, founded Sirtris Pharmaceuticals. Sirtris was focused on developing Sinclair's research into activators of sirtuins, work that began in the Guarente lab. The company was specifically focused on resveratrol formulations and derivatives as activators of the SIRT1 enzyme; Sinclair became known for making statements about resveratrol like: “(It's) as close to a miraculous molecule as you can find.... One hundred years from now, people will maybe be taking these molecules on a daily basis to prevent heart disease, stroke, and cancer. In 2011, Sinclair was also a co-founder of CohBar, along with Nir Barzilai and other colleagues. CoBar aimed to discover and develop novel peptides derived from mitochondria.
In 2018, Sinclair was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for "distinguished service to medical research into the biology of ageing and lifespan extension, as a geneticist and academic, to biosecurity initiatives, and as an advocate for the study of science". Dr. David Sinclair has also authored 4 books: Lifespan: Why We Age – and Why We Don't Have To, How to Start an Evolution, Just In Time: The Discovery of Sirtuin and How it Will Change Everything, David's Wow - David Sinclair.

Been taking NMN and trans-resveratrol and my glucose response has improved, I don't get an afternoon crash, my deep sleep and rem sleep increased, some of my grey hair strands have turned brown again at the roots. Also, my eczema under my eyes went away. Thanks Dr. David Sinclair!

Excellent interview, thank you. I have watched multiple interviews with Dr. Sinclair, and most were done by experts in science and of course genetics. This interview demonstrated the benefits of an exchange between a non-expert and Dr. Sinclair. There were many examples, but one is that Ms. Patrick often asked him to clarify certain comments and define some medical terms which makes the interview more comprehensible for laymen. In an expert-to-expert interview, the two people involved often forget their audience hasn't yet achieved a PhD in genetics!

My nana lived completely healthy to 113yrs, she was so adorable! She gardened, cooked, cleaned, went up and down stairs to and from her room, she cooked, cleaned, ate all things Italian, bread, pasta, meatballs etc, lived with her two sisters (who both smoked indoors + her husband did also while he was alive) She told me that it hurts to be that old before she left, but no medicine, only one advil a day, coffee, water, and occasional/often glass of red wine! We are in the gueniss book as her grandchildren! I used to eat steak often without a 2nd thought on ethics of it, untill I began having dreams from the pov of a cow, VERY traumatic dreams where in various heart wrenching scenarios, i would wake up in tears, sobbing, emotionally wrecked, like having my calfs ripped away from me, my friends i loved deeply swept away, helpless with hooves not hands, locked behind a fence, somehow intuitively i came to understand that the dna of these cows i had ingested, entering my being in a way that made their trauma a part of me... I've never eaten or craved eating any kind of dead animal flesh since this, also never had a nightmare like that again ....

Danica I'm a Ford guy and have been to car races all over the world and raced a shifter kart for over 20 years but watching you lead the field at the Daytona 500 in 2013 was one of my greatest race car fan experiences. Second only to being at Monza Italy in 1996 when Michael Schumacher WON the Italian Grand Prix for Ferrari. The two of you must be the most physically fit drivers of all time. You look happy and I'm happy for you, from Ray in Michigan

Ignore the haters. If you sat any one of them down with Dr Sinclair, they would probably turn into babbling idiots. You asked good questions and were nicely composed. Also, Dr Sinclair appeared to genuinely enjoy having a normal, unpretentious conversation.

1:18:20. I've read and watched a lot of Sinclair's stuff, and it's really difficult to get a handle on where you should get the items he discusses. (Trans Resveratrol, NMN, and Metformin.) The problem is you really can't trust must of the supplements you see being sold. (Are they pure and high quality?) Even if the company is reputable, if you buy the stuff through a reseller like Amazon, you don't know how long it has been sitting on the shelf, and molecules like NMN are not stable at room temperature. Which is to say nothing of how hot they get if you are shipping them during the summer. Basically, you need to keep these things refrigerated or in the freezer, and I think it would probably be best to buy them when it's cool if not cold outside, in order to preserve them in transit. So stock up on the whole year's supply in the cooler months. This is especially important for NMN, as if it degrades, it'll do the exact opposite of what you want it to do.
Based off of the info Sinclair gives here, that you want an established company, which is GMP certified, which has had their products lab tested and certified, the best example of this I've managed to track down is Double Wood based out of Philadelphia. They were established in 2013, they are GMP certified with the FDA, and they do submit their supplements to third part labs and they post the certificates. Like I said above, I'd recommend buying direct (in order to minimize the amount of shelf time the item is likely to have logged). They offer a lot of things, including Trans Resveratrol, NMN, as well as Berberine (which may be an alternative to metformin).

I am a Daivd Sinclair groopie. I feel he is one of the most intelligent Scientists on you tube. I cannot wait for his work to reach its climax. That said I thought that this podcast was not done very well. I felt that Danica was somewhat annoying. As other said she needs to stop interrupting and giggling. It's ok that she does not understand everything he is talking about. But you need to listen quietly. I in no way wanted this to be negative towards your podcast. Just trying to help.

I want to warn those who want to start HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts to activate their longevity genes. I've been doing HIIT workouts during the first quarantine on April and I got a stress fracture in my foot. This type of exercise puts literally a huge amount of stress on our body. It doesn't worth the risk of injury. I'm not even able to walk briskly for last few months. Please be careful and listen to your body - walk briskly or run in a low to moderate pace maybe twice or 3 times a week.

If you follow racing and know anything about what it takes to drive a race car, it’s more than what the average person is capable of. Along with that comes an ego to match and big egos are sometimes narcissistic. I don’t her personally but was married for 22 yrs to guy who had raced and racing was a part of our life. The thing that was problematic in our relationship is the same thing I l’ve seen in her from the very beginning and that’s narcissism. I’m not saying she’s a narcissist, but she has a lot of tendencies. And if you don’t know anything about narcissism there are many videos that will enlighten you and then it would make sense why she’s the type of interviewer she is, but this is just my opinion and I don’t consider it fact!

An amazing and captivating man but I found the video hard to watch because the interviewer didn't match the tone of her soft-spoken guest. David has a very calm presence and is very easy to listen to - in contrast, Danica's questions and input sounded a bit like teenage outbursts......I suppose she intermittently stressed my system which might actually have some longevity benefits!

Lot of criticism of the host(ess). When a world renowned figure, who is interviewed constantly, admits to that host that he is about to reveal personal information - so personal that he admits to never having discussed it in public before - then you know you are watching a talented journalist, no matter how much she interrupts. Dr. Sinclair didn't seem to mind, in any case.

1:05 ish , Joe Rogan also drinks lots of Alcohol and smokes drugs and cigars so not the ultimate authority to follow for life management. And for those of you who want to jump on this statement get a live blood analysis done. Then drink alcohol and smoke either some weed or a cigar and get the live blood analysis redone and watch what happens. Everything slows down in the blood. Joe has flaws as well he knows better but he still does what he does, and lives life the way he likes.
