The words that Morgan Freeman said in front of the emperor and to the rest of his peers are profoundly true something that everybody should take to heart

Always on board if Clive Owen's in it. He never disappoints, and his kinship with Freeman is on point for his role here as Commander Rayden. Superb acting, killer swordsmanship, and the story of honor and loyalty within the ranks of the Bartok Clan make this movie very captivating.

Rotten Tomatoes critics gave this a 16% rating: in other words, for them it stank. The main difficulty, insofar as I gather from reading their reviews, is that there was nothing unique about this telling of the 47 Ronin story. But, as anyone can see, it's a highly imaginative and strikingly dramatic presentation. For the critics, if you stage "Hamlet," it has to be considered boring, since we all know how it's going to end -- unless there's a sex-change operation performed mid-way through. No, the evidence of their lack of esthetic sense is before the viewer: this movie is a classic.

This movie did an amazing job in placing me back in time. The story, acting, atmosphere, music and battles are better than most movies of its kind in the last 25 years.

Morgan Freeman as the Master said this to the Emperor about himself and people: "We supply the armies, we build the roads, we employ the nation. Still we remain silent while our coffers are emptied, our freedoms eroded. There will be times when we are powerless to injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest." A true statement for all to remember.

The best statement is "Your father's honor has been reclaimed!" Along with the men bowing to Bartok's daughter as a sign of restoration. Exhilarating!

An excellent movie on the meaning of loyalty, honor, devotion, justice over injustice, and tyranny. The love that the knights had for their Master and Protector that had been given the death penalty wrongly. These are virtues that our world greatly lacks. Great phrases that were used that were memorable. Excellent sword scenes and acting.

It made me look at myself. I'm a veteran, my M-16 was as my sword would be, clean, sharp, and not an assured death. I bore arms for the US. The beauty of a soldier? We have nothing to prove except the history of what man has done with less.

A movie appropriate for the days we live in. Honor, dignity, truth, and loyalty are so easily dismissed by the world’s “elites”.

My heart breaks for the wife who still cares after the dude's (seemingly bad) behavior. I had a chance at a good woman once. Those of you lucky enough to get that chance, the rest of us are rooting for you.

Witness the death of Hollywood. Props to Morgan Freeman for taking a part in this awesome work of film making. I not only can forge my own sword, I also know how to use it.
