CRC1182-speaker Thomas Bosch leads a series of interviews with the leading experts in the field of host-microbe interactions: During their last visit to Kiel University in November 2019 he talked to Prof. Gloria Dominguez-Bello and Prof. Martin J. Blaser of Rutgers University about their latest project, the 'Microbiota Vault'-Initiative.
In order to cope with the problematic global decline of microbes and possibly achieve their permanent conservation in the future, Dominguez-Bello and Blaser have launched a new international project: The 'Microbiota Vault'-Initiative aims at the preservation of microbial diversity by creating a technical facility that will enable the permanent storage and conservation of as many microorganisms as possible - that could potentially be important for human health.
