A friend was being tested for MS amongst other things because she couldn’t grip properly etc ,it turned out her vit d levels were extremely low. She was given short term very high doses and after a few weeks everything returned to normal, she was due an MRI scan shortly before one clever doctor suggested to test for vit d.

Dr Attia makes it sound like insulin resistance is a main driver of ApoB formation, and that saturated fat intake is less important - I was under the impression that saturated fat intake is more relevant from what research I've seen. Anyone else have research to show me on this?

With the almost unnatural quantity of protein Peter has now adopted, I fear he’s taken the side of Lane Norton types too much. He’s even admitted it’s difficult to reach his protein goals, which intuitively doesn’t make sense it’s how we optimize health. I love Peter and find him brilliant. But he’s been wrong before too, as we all have.

I've watched most of Dr. Attia's videos from way back & read his writings over a long time & not to be too critical but most of the information overload is difficult to follow for the average non medically educated person. I am 81 years of age, physically very fit & still reasonably mentally alert. If I was to worry about all the information Peter expounds I would probably lose my focus on just simply keeping active & eating well which enables me to remain "healthy". I listen to the advice from people like Peter because I am now vitally concened with longevity but in reality the "science" seems to be never ending in comlpexity & still there is no clear cut simple direction.

Dr. Can you bring on some of your older patients (65+) of course with their approval and talk about what they did as far as working out for longevity. Weight training, cardio, diet, or all.... open up the floor. I believe people are using so many different methodologies and don't prescribe to a one size fits all. But, hearing them explain with a Dr. to patients explanation would be outstanding.

I recommend having Dr. Michael Greger on the podcast. His new book "How Not To Age" offers a different view point from Attia, but is well researched and science based. I think your viewers would appreciate his work on the subject of longevity. It would be interesting to hear Rhonda question him on the research he cites in the book.

So many unanswered questions around women’s hormones 😭 I’m 29 and am experiencing jawline acne only around my cycle, otherwise my skin is wonderful. I have severe mood swings two days before I start my period (I swing from super angry and irritable one day to literally crying and suicidal the next day). My cycles are regular, meaning in time every month. I can’t sleep at all when I’m ovulating. I took 5mg melatonin, 400mg mag glyc and ashwagandha with rhidiola and doesn’t do shit during ovulation but I tried progesterone cream and that gave me the best night of sleep I’ve ever had AND I didn’t have any mood swings or breast tenderness this last period. What gives?! Aren’t I too young to be having to apply progesterone cream? I don’t want to give myself breast cancer but I can’t keep living like that every single month 😭 also my obgyn says my hormones are fine. This is such BS. Only think blood work says is that I have low vitamin D but I take 5,000IU Vit D + K2 consistently so none of this make sense lol I hate it

Heart disease is the number one killer of people today and cancer is number two.
Being over weight is the number one factor leading to an early death.
People who are over weight have higher risks for high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences.
There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese.
What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications.
Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks.
Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods

I've been trying out carnivore since january 2023. Gotta say I feel even better than plant-heavy olive oil based keto.
I'm not the only one. 10s of thousands of people who started around the time Shawn Baker first appeared on JRE ~7 years ago are still going strong and feeling great.
There's also multiple independent lines of evidence pointing towards humans being a primarily carnivorous species.
Like dogs and cats many of which get fed industrially produced plant-based pet food, humans also can survive on plants. Is it necessary for thriving though?
Is it counter-productive to thriving? It probably is in the case of dogs, cats, hyena's, dolphins, wolves, lions etc. Also in humans? Many humans report so. They report that when they reintroduce plants some negative symptoms reappear.
Some of the other lines of evidence: paleo-anthropology, archaeology, evolutionary biology, botany (plant defense chemicals / plant bio-warfare arms race which predatory animals drop out of), comparative biology.
Have pre-human ancestors been living as meat-eaters anywhere from 2 million to 8 million years ago?
Has that line been crossed where plants are actually harmful except as a survival food? That line which the feline species have crossed long ago. Might the human species have crossed that more recently, but nevertheless firmly crossed it? We can still tolerate plants but is it optimal? Maybe not.
Is there anything in plants that is absolutely essential to eat for humans? The answer seems pretty clearly no given the 10s of thousands of 7+ year carnivores and the handful of multi-decade carnivores that stepped into the public light in recent years.
Is there anything in plants that is not essential but nevertheless desirable if optimal human health is the goal? Maybe.
But again I point to the example of dogs and cats. Do they derive any benefit from eating plants? Or are they better off eating just meat?
Food for thought.
I wish you'd invite on someone like Shawn Baker, Anthony Chaffee, Georgia Ede, Ken Berry, Michael Eades, Philip Ovadia, Paul Mason etc. These people are ver civil and cordial and they genuinely care about optimal human health. They simply have come to a different conclusion. I think we can all benefit when knowledgeable people of good faith who disagree enter into friendly discussion.
Cheers

Rhonda what Peter was saying regarding 80/20 cardio didn't provide the detail I was hoping for. As you addressed in your prior video, the percent of time you put into the higher zones depends on the total time you do cardio. Peter talks about pro cyclists doing 80/20 but these cyclists train for 10-20 hours a week and therefore the 20 represents perhaps 4 hours of higher zone training. But for an exerciser that does 5 hours 20% would mean 1 hour. So the question is, if you do only 5 hours of training a week should your higher zone training be more than 20%?

What happens to all the high older ApoB carriers who don’t suffer CVD events or show arterial plaques via imaging vs youngsters with comparatively little exposure to ApoB but who die from atherosclerosis? Vascular inflammation caused by smoking or high glycemia is surely a better predictor than ApoB…

Smoking, insulin resistance and High Blood Pressure can all cause small blood vessel damage which can result in high ApoB count. These blood vessels I’m referring is the Vasa vasorum. When damaged the cells that make up the artery wall don’t receive any nutrients and die off and release their Cholesterol. That’s why plaque builds up below the intima layer of an artery. Focusing on blood vessel health should be the priority and not the obsession over ApoB numbers.

Zone 2 training proxy of speaking is odd for me. I can speak fine at 180 bpm (measured polar heartrate belt).
My max is over 200bpm. I have played basketball from the early age and my heart rate was always 180-190 when the game was on. Any Idea why this could be and how could I proxy zone 2.
I have thought that maybe better proxy for me is the rate that i could do endlessly but it still challenges my breathing. Like being able to breathe through my nose while going fast as possible. Any thoughts?

I loved this episode, but I'm still left feeling confused honestly. So much advice out there on cholesterol is for the age 50+ crowd. I am a 33 year old woman, healthy height and very physically active (marathon runner as well as surfing, mtn biking, lift weights 3x/wk, etc). I had an ideal lipid profile for years, but after I experienced an unplanned pregnancy followed by a miscarriage I became very anemic. I got two iron infusions which brought my levels back up but the doctor said I need to increase consumption of heme iron, such as red meat and shellfish. Now my cholesterol has skyrocketed shockingly fast and I can't get it to come down. I feel so much better eating more meat but I am considering changing things up and cutting out red meat and most dairy - eating only fish, chicken, tofu, nonfat yogurt, etc. for protein and taking an iron supplement. Should I even be eating eggs? They are recommended for fertility but I worry they will keep my lipids high. I'm trying to conceive again and I'm just so confused as to what I should be eating! I need to support my fertility but I also don't want to go into a pregnancy with dangerously elevated cholesterol.

Are you concerned about tendon rupture with Bempedoic acid? I have seen this now and it has me a little cautious with it -- that and its price tag for most people.

3 questions for anyone:
1) if you have an optimal level of apoB (whatever that is according to Peter), will you ever have to worry about a cardiac event?
2) Who is a good candidate for a heart CT according to Peter?
3) re family history of ASCVD : what is the cut off age? A cardiac event in the 60s?

So what type of diet would be best to keep ApoB to a minimum? Also, is lowering ApoB reversible by changing the diet, and lifestyle. Great episode by the way. So informative. Thank you

Wouldn’t it stand to reason that children are born and maintained low APOb because they are using it and don’t have any free floating? Our blood levels are free floating unused product.

Four meals a day seem over the top for human physiology. It takes five hrs for s full meal to complely leave the stomach and 48 hrs to get its remains out of you
You only have 12 hours to be active and eat. A fourth meal burdens the liver. And if the meal is close to bed time it interferes with the sleep.
It’s not not like these modern reveries are being derived from very well know longevity’s populations.

Up to 7 drinks a week when you know it is harmful in all cases for all people? Hmmmm........ wonder why someone would drink that much when they know it is bad for them and is counter productive to everything they stand for and are working towards in life.🤔

As usual context is forgotten. ApoB numbers might be completely useless for a fit person vs an unhealthy obese person. Most research is done on the average person who is probably unfit, overweight and rarely exercises. Therefore health research results are skewed and not applicable to all people. Smoking does not kill everyone who smokes ! 50% of heart attack patients do not have high cholesterol levels !

Blood pressure of 140/80 is absolutely fine if you are otherwise in good health. blood pressure also increases with age. He does not mention resting heart rate which is very important. Also heart rate recovery is super important. Hdl/Trigyceride ratio most important ratio. Doctors ignore triglycerides because there is no pharmaceutical to lower it. Colonoscopy new research. It saves 1 in 250 but 1 in 250 also get punctured and suffer from the colonoscopy.

if peter was vegan he would be a much more better person. not putting capitalism and climate catastrophy into the risks he talks about for hours and hours is sooooo sad. its clear he knows a lot, however i hate to say that food is a problem both in metabolic diseases as well as non metabolic ones, cancer included. so attia, grab the ride and move vegan. not only you join the community and fight for a cause, we all together fight the animal holocaust, climate catstrophe and the specific risks for diseases if meat and dairy are excluded, eggs too. you can say as much as you want that we will poop the cholesterol from animals, however, where is the moral or again, the climate catastrophe? you always mention smoking, its the same if you eat meat and dairy. did you saw alps these years or manitoba, canada? theres no f snow. isnt it obvious? damn md ahaha say

George Sheehan MD and running guru points out..."You might suspect from the emphasis on cardiopulmonary fitness that major effect of training is on the heart and lungs. Guess again. Exercise does nothing for the lungs:that has been amply proved...Nor does it especially benefit your heart. Running, no matter what you've been told, primarily trains and conditions the muscles.
Also "fit" does not mean healthy. Jim Fixx died from a heart attack while jogging at fifty-two. Certainly he was fit. But was he healthy? No, his autopsy revealed coronary arteriosclerosis
He ran 37,000 miles and completed several marathons, ran 60 miles per week.
Compare jim Fixx to Winston Churchill, who was obese, smoked, overate, and drank excessively yet lived to 91,. No one would describe Churchill as fit, but he was certainly healthy. jim Fixx could run circles around Churchill, but Churchill lived 40 years longer. Health is a state in which all components of the body are functioning properly and there is an absence of disease. Fitness is the ability to perform strenuous work or exercise. Clearly, it is possible to be healthy without being fit and vice versa

Romans 5 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁸ But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
⁹ Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.1 Corinthians 15 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
¹ Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
² By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
³ For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Why this obsession with longevity? I've known enough people who've lived into their mid to late 90s to tell you that it's not such a great thing. I just want to live as long as I can without disease or chronic conditions. That's enough.
