Ive grown a couple different tropical tree fruits for fun and ive never seen one grow leaves that fast. My avacodo has been sitting in a for a third of a year and has only now started to grow roots 2 Reply @kathleenstoin671 9 months ago (edited) For those who want to grow avocados and mangos from seeds, I always have great success just planting them in a pot of soil rather than water. The root system seems healthier, and there isn't the chance of accidentally damaging the roots when potting them after they've been in water. Incidentally, I've never had an avocado pit not come up when planted in soil. Plant it large end down with a quite small bit exposed to the light. It will sprout after a week to three weeks. Keep it moist, and don't give up on it. I like to plant three pits quite close together, maybe an inch apart. It just looks nicer to me. Make sure the plant gets lots of light!
