Fair to say that we all assume that aging is inevitable. In reality however, there is no biological law that says we must age. Over the years we've seen a variety of theories proposed to explain why we age including the accumulation of damage to our DNA, the damaging effects of chemicals called "free radicals,” changes in the function of our mitochondria, and so many others.
Our guest today, Dr. David Sinclair, believes that aging is related to a breakdown of information. Specifically, he describes how, with time, our epigenome accumulates changes that have powerful downstream effects on the way our DNA functions. Reducing these changes to the epigenome is achievable and in fact, even taking it further, his research now reveals that the epigenome can be reprogrammed back to a youthful state.
David A. Sinclair, PhD, AO is Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, and is the author of Lifespan - Why We Age and Why We Don’t Have To. He is the Founding Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biological Mechanisms of Aging at Harvard. One of the leading innovators of his generation, he is listed by TIME magazine as one of the “100 most influential people in the world” (2014) and top 50 most important people in healthcare (2018). He is a board member of the American Federation for Aging Research, a Founding Editor of the journal Aging, and has received more than 35 awards for his research on resveratrol, NAD, and reprogramming to reverse aging, which have been widely hailed as major scientific breakthroughs and are topics we discuss in our time together.
In 2018, Dr. Sinclair became an Officer of the Order of Australia, the equivalent of a knighthood, for his work on national security matters and human longevity. Dr. Sinclair and his work have been featured on 60 Minutes, Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, and Newsweek, among others.
In closing, I really need to say that Lifespan (https://amzn.to/3sSoCNS) ranks as one of the most influential books I have ever read. Please enjoy today’s interview.

My wife and I really appreciate Dr. Sinclair, he inspired us for our biological age is possibly can be reversed. Next year, I'll be 60. We started our NMN & Resveratrol journey a year ago and got more than we expected result. We are feeling much younger, more energetic, have motivation to learn all sorts of things. we reversed our biological age sucessfully last year. We are very grateful to reconfirm that "It's Never too late" indeed is true. Thank you!

“The end of biological aging would not mean the end of death in any way. It’s more like a Summer evening when you were a kid, and your mom called you inside. You just wanted to keep playing, have a little more fun during sunset before you went to sleep. It’s not about playing forever, just a little longer, until we feel tired.” That is the most beautiful way of describing the want to prolong life I’ve ever heard. So it's just like that. We only live once, and life is something we can never restore once it's already gone. This urged me to slow down my age process, and so much grateful of Dr. Sinclair's podcasts about NMN supplement's benefits in our body as we age. I have been taking NMN by Vitruvin Nutrition for over a year now, and just like what they say in their reviews online, it resulted to me an impressive benefits. My energy levels are through the roof, no more fatigue, no more medical issues.

I love this interview. I have seen Sinclair in other interviews struggeling to have a proper conversation on his level. He seems uneasy in explaining and conveying it to individuals that are not on his level of knowlegde and expertise.
But here he seems sharp as a knive and you kept him this sharp throughout the interview. Very well done.

Fasciniating discussion. I am 69yo and obviously find such chats so relevant to my life. But I am probably not alone in wondering how successful research that extends life 10-20 years, will effect population numbers.

Would like to see Dr. Sinclair weigh in on the NAD+ salvage pathway and the influence of food components. I looked at the studies discussed by Nichola Conlon, PhD, and they indicate that substances like EGCG, quercetin, and apigenin have significant positive effects on the salvage pathway, which might preclude use of NR and NMN, especially when combined with exercise and some form of fasting. Also, one study indicates that within the tested range there is an inverse relationship between protein consumption and NAD+

Honestly, I just don't want to be a wrinkly grey-haired useless woman who can’t remember stuff in my ripe age. If I can get older and be able to sustain my body slowing down aging or even biologically reverse aging to my prime, that is ideal. Obviously, nobody can live forever, but I feel like we can live a lot longer, so why not slow our age rather than age slowing us down? This is why I am constantly taking Dr. Sinclair’s NMN, a NAD booster and indeed a health provider. With NMN Vitruvin Nutrition (500mg) a day every morning with protein drink and Greek yogurt, it has radically changed everything. All sorts of problems have disappeared. Now, age is just a number.

Am I the only person to notice that Dr Sinclair looks younger in this video than those from 7 years ago. He hasn’t aged a bit at the very least. Look up his old videos and compare for yourselves.

The worst thing for ageing is thinking about it, celebrating birthdays annually, telling yourself your another year older..
So everyday tell yourself your a day younger, and don't use phrases like how Old are you ask the age not how old are you, Stop using the negatives... I'm a year younger next year.. I'm a day younger tomorrow.

Interesting, If we go back in time to the original First pair of humans, according to the bible we were never Originally created to die, We could have lived forever if We humans didn’t decide that we knew better than God and we went our own way of doing things . But the good thing is that Everlasting live on a paradise earth is still open to us, because God is going to make all things new, and those words are faithful and truth. The more we learn the more we realise the bible is true.this following Verse in the Bible came to my mind it’s in Romans chapter 5 verse 12
That is why Through one man (Adam)sin entered the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men
