You've just added another tool in my cancer fighting toolbelt, having to build a "standard of care" for myself to fight with natural medicines and nutrition. It's early on. And our medical system has completely failed them. Thank you Thomas! 438 Reply 34 replies Testosterone Temple Testosterone Temple 2 years ago While completing my undergraduate degree in molecular biology i worked as a valet at a world renowned cancer center in southern florida. I was always helping patients load boxes and boxes of a nutritional supplement into their cars. The nutritional label indicated that the vast majority of the product was added sugar and some protein. Some time later, while parking a patients truck i saw a paper in the passenger’s seat labeled something like “Food Guide”. One of the items listed was “chocolate milkshake from McDonalds, Burger King etc.” This lecture gave me motivation when i began studying for medical school admissions tests and i am now in my second year of medical school. I have confidence that as the older generations die off and younger physicians take their place, the work of Dr. Seyfried and others such as Dr. Dominic D’Agostino will be considered more seriously when determining patient treatment options/plan. 182 Reply 13 replies Henrik Svensson Henrik Svensson 2 years ago "We don't believe in feeding dogs raw meat" That line is a great clue on what is going on with our society. This video is gold 90 Reply 3 replies Dean Mindock Dean Mindock 3 years ago He deserves to be listened to very carefully. He is revealing a lot to help us. Also shows how the cancer industry isn't going to change their system. It is all about money and treating cancer with expensive therapies that fail at a very high rate, like 97% of the time. His therapies do no damage, improve wellbeing, and give a patient a good shot at complete recovery. We should all get on to a diet that he prescribes. The Ketogenic Diet, restricted in calories. Give the body all the nutrients it needs but without excess calories. The Ketogenic Diet will greatly reduce the odds for getting any of the chronic diseases and should add a lot of quality years to your life. 36 Reply Abinico Arts Abinico Arts 6 years ago Years ago I had an old cat develop cancer. The metabolic solution is the production of ketones through diet: Fasting, food reduction, keto diet, and intermittent fasting. The tumor-dysregulated cells cannot metabolize ketones into glucose and they shrink and die. Remember that the body has its own wisdom. For example, if you deprive the body with sugar, it gets other source of fuel like fat. I believe same goes with the body with less oxygen in the cellular level. The population is eating too much acid-producing foods that steal oxygen from our body rather than give oxygen to the cells. Foods nowadays are bombarded with sugars, meats bombarded with nitrates, deep fried toasted and baked foods that zero enzymes and water on it and it produces acrylamide that causes cancer! It's all in the overall lifestyle! As I said, the body has a wisdom. Since it lacks oxygen, where will it compensate for it to survive? - it ferments sugar! --- resulting to CANCEROUS CELLS, plain and simple! Do you know why cancer is hard to fight? Simply because the one that a person need is total OVERHAULING of body with toxins, bring back homeostasis... meaning, TOTAL LIFESTYLE CHANGE. The problem is, PEOPLE DONT WANT TO CHANGE - their lifestyle, their food choice, etc. -- but they want to get cured as if there is a MAGIC PILL. There is no magic in healing - but there is a process to reverse them but it needs commitment to discipline. That's why FASTING is effective but only few people takes the challenge to do it. 12 Reply 7 replies Gasso Desec Gasso Desec 8 years ago Excellent lecture. And for the practice of medicine, period. Just a few decades ago, doctors were paid directly by their patients (for the most part) and doctors offices were not businesses, but a profession. Hospitals were not businesses either, as they are now - doctors and staff were paid for their work, but they were run as not for profit organizations. Then the IRS changed their tax rules, making it essentially impossible for hospitals to run as anything BUT for profit businesses. 28 Reply UTOBEDUDE UTOBEDUDE 3 years ago Eye-opening lecture ! But a number of groups of people into the 19th and 20th centuries did thrive on 100% animal diets; numerous others on nearly all animal foods. Raw vegetables grown without poisons in living soil are wonderful - but the high sugar and/or high starch vegetables, raw or not, will still prevent nutritional ketosis; things like carrots, potatoes, even sweet potatoes, onions, etc, except in very small amounts will raise blood sugar and block ketosis - as Seyfried certainly knows. Once someone has made the transition to nutritional ketosis, it is commonly reported that their cravings for sweets and starchy food disappears, or is greatly diminished. High fat foods are among the most flavorful- bacon, ham, butter, cream, coconut - and a good olive oil makes any salad more enjoyable. Greens sauteed in bacon drippings, or the drippings from broiling chicken, or duck or goose or lamb - all commonly eaten 'normal' foods in the American diet until our food supply was industrialized - are delicious! Sugars and starch are highly addictive foods, of course, but have little flavor on their own. A pizza tastes good because of the pepperoni and cheese and tomato sauce on top! 20 Reply 3 replies MsSilver41 MsSilver41 6 months ago Lost my mum to cancer - so angry this has been known since 1931. How to understand if your hypothesis is correct (or not). 2 Reply 1 reply David Footerman David Footerman 6 years ago At 24.00, there is a problem. Tom uses lactate and lactic acid interchangeably. That is a popular misconception. The body is not a test tube and the acid and its base are anything but interchangeable. Lactate is not a useful waste product. It is handled by a shuttle mechanism that gets it very efficiently into cells. It is a powerful global epigenetic regulator. George Brooks at UC Berkeley has spent 40 years studying this issue and has developed lactate polymers that can be given intravenously after TBI events. These polymers are already in clinical trials. When lactate is given to the body carbon dioxide can be found increasing in the expired air very quickly. The same is not true of glucose. It would appear that lactate is not only another clean burn, but possibly a preferred on. Tom talks about evolutionarily conserved mechanisms. Under that premise, why would lactic acid be a toxic waste product? Would it not be more sensible to develop a mechanism to use it. Athletes can be shown to increase their shuttle capability as they increase fitness. So Olympians might have lower lactate levels in their blood than less fit athletes, but they are producing MORE lactate and are then shuttling it back more efficiently as an aerobic substrate. Result? Lower lactate levels. I like Tom's metabolic argument, but this is a hole in it large enough to drive through a London bus! Question: What happens to lactate consumption as patients develop overwhelming systemic cancer? My guess is it will go down while blood lactate levels will go up. Hmmm. SOunds like a good starting point for clinical studies. I'm sure they have already been done and I'm just reinventing a wheel. 2 Reply 3 replies HiFlyG123 HiFlyG123 7 months ago 13:11 Warburg had it pegged, one of the leading scientists. It was intended to be a low carb high fat (LCHF) diet - as the meat recommended was high in fat, plus butter, cream, cheese, coconut, and other sources of fat (not transfats, or so-called 'vegetable oils' like corn, soy, and canola - which are all highly processed and harmful). 3 Reply 1 reply Nonmi Hiseddeo Nonmi Hiseddeo 6 years ago I started the Ketogenic diet for weight loss 5 or 6 weeks ago. I want to lose 30 pounds. It has been difficult for me to keep carbs low enough, not just because I may end up eating a bit extra carby food, but also because if I accidentally eat too much protein it turns into sugar (neoglucogenesis). So I am only now achieving moderate ketosis according to Ketostix measurement. In this time, I have lost 8 pounds, which is OK. My strategy now is to shoot for zero carbs per day. Hopefully that will help me stay below 50 g carbs/day, and preferably below 30 or even 20 g carbs/day. Another challenge is eating enough fat. I was told, "When in doubt, eat more fat. When in doubt, eat less carbs." So, I'm at a Brazilian steakhouse, taking portions of pork ribs (fattiest meat they served), eating the fat (which was delicious!) and leaving most of the meat. At Golden Corral Buffet, I was looking at the grilled steak. One of them had a large slab of fat on it. I said, "May I just have that big hunk of fat?" The cook looked at me as if I had just grown another head, but he sliced off the fat and served it to me. At Cheesecake Factory (where they have a fantastic 12 g carb cheesecake, with crushed walnut crust and sweetened with Splenda), they served a big basket of bread with butter. I sat there eating the butter, to the embarrassment of my daughter. Even at home, I have to concentrate on eating fat, coconut oil one day, avocado oil another day, olive oil the day after that, cod liver oil the next day, butter, butter, and more butter. I can't get enough fat from my food and have to supplement. Once I get into ketosis, I plan on doing this diet as a permanent lifestyle change. I wish everyone luck who starts it and the willpower to keep with it. Although not much to be concerned about I wanted to take action early because the last thing I wanted was the next step of "standard care" - radiation. So after finding out about Thomas Seyfried in December 2022, I fasted initially for 8 days and then started eating OMAD (one meal a day) which was only two heads of cauliflower. Additionally, I fasted 48 hours once a week and fasted 7 days once a month. This coincides with the studies that cancer dies in oxygenated environments. And maybe that's WHY it exists only where there's fermentation, because from early times, before humans, it existed with fermentation, before there was oxygen in the atmosphere. I may not be explaining that well, but as this doctor was relating this to us in his podcast, it began to occur to me that the cancer cell must exist in fermentation, because oxygen kills it. The reason for other studies showing that oxygen, ( hyperbaric chambers included ) destroys cancer! Read the Mr. Oxygen books, and listen to his podcasts online. Read the book 02 Oxygen therapies. No wonder the cancer likes a fermentation type environment, it will die in an oxygenated environment otherwise. Reply Stephen Kourakis Stephen Kourakis 6 months ago Interesting presentation, but... Transfer of a tumor-cell nucleus giving rise to an apparently normal clone, does not necessarily falsify the DNA-mutation theory of oncogenesis. Many DNA-repair mechanisms come into play upon fertilisation and cell division. I wonder what Dr Seyfried thinks, and has perhaps studied experimentally, that could disprove such a hypothesis.
