Ppl on purpose not to mention the opponents MJ played against, in that era Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, Jeff Hornacek, Mark Price…were stars. Players were averagely more skinny, smaller, slower, only a few can jump high or shoot 3’s, no big man can dribble, no eurosteps, no shammgod. They played brute, but no skills. Hand check yes, but no zone defense, to which Kobe said “I don’t care if yo hand check with 3 hands” “the zone I think cripples some of the top scorers” When prime MJ left the bulls in 93’ the went from 57 wins to 55, when prime LeBron left cavaliers in 10’ they went 62 wins to 19. I'LL PROBABLY say something controversial about Jordan (or just sports in general), but i dont give a damn. IF I can open one person's mind and attitude, then it's worth it. During the end of this video, LeBron Jame's made a controversial point about Jordan, but of course, James gets scorched for his apparent "blasphemy" toward Jordan the goat(from the talkIng bobble heads ON SPORTSCENTER of course).. You'll see what i mean. All of this idolization in 100 years will hopefully seem ridiculous in regards to whom we put on a pedestal. For me personally, its absurd to put these people and their "profession" in the heircharcy of society. Jordan is not a God... he was a guy who was good at a simple game... He's not solving the worlds problems here.. Jordan as well as James are highly/disgustingly privileged to make the money they've made on and off the court by putting a ball through a hoop (something tells me James is a little more woke on this subject... Jordan has convinced HIMSELF that he's somehow a savvy, hard-working, and supremely intelligent businessman... I doubt he did any of the hard work, for example, his overpriced Jordan shoe... all of his success stems from a simple game) i doubt hes qualified to work as a manager at a fast food joint seriously) there is absolutely no hate on my end ..i just find it absolutely sad yet hysterical this basketball game doesn't change anyone's life nor the worlds or the fact the inner city kids are still going through financial hard times as was the 90s city of Chicago (which had more poverty and crime than in any other city- especially for the african american population) yet Jordan and the media hype convinced millions of people in Chicago that winning a championship helped Chicago city and spirit... well, it definitely helped the his/ the athletes' wallet, the Chicago 90s was invested with poverty and crime... It helped himself only, please dont forget that.. I love what this country could stand for... i jate all forms of racism and prejudice, but Jordan simply wasn't a PIONEER of that... he was a pioneer of himself, himself only.... but they'll make you think these undeserving multi millionaire's care about you or your problwms... or sell you on the lie of purchasing a Jordan shoe......do you honestly think Jordan has contributed to society... my trash getting pi ked up affects my life more than a simple game... think about it.. Every single time MJ took the court, even at his elder condition on the Wizards, he was the best player on the court, on both sides of the basketball. I grew up watching him play, and those memories will forever be cherished. As far as the debate on the GOAT is concerned, it's become laughable and absurd. People will always be biased in their opinions about this. We will always favor the music, films, athletes, etc.... from the 'coming of age' period of our lives, at least most of us will anyway. I speak to people in the younger generations and a lot of them rank LeBron or Kobe over Jordan and it makes me think how one-sided that is, seeing how they weren't even alive to see Jordan play. I watched hundreds of games, playoffs, finals from the mid-80's till now and what I can say is the game has changed tremendously. Sadly, it will probably never be what it was during the Jordan era, ever again. I'm just glad I was there for it all. I actually like the Jordan from '86-93. To me that was pure Jordan more so. Was he great? No doubt. But he was also treated very special and given alot of leeway concerning carrying the ball when he came back in '96 especially. Double dribbling, traveling and soft gloving by the officials if anyone got near him as far as fouls. Hey I get it. He isnt the only superstar athelete treated this way. The guy was so huge. He was beyond basketball to the public. Basketball saw this and the dollar signs. And it affected the way he was treated on the court. No getting around that. This isnt just an issue with MJ though. Many superstars get this treatment. The game needs or rather fans want at least one insanely superman basketball player they can ooo and aaahhh over. And the game is changed to assist them a bit with this. Its about assuring basketball has a certain level of popularity with fans. I get it. I dont like what it does to the game though. It becomes entertainment and dunks and three pointer ahhs and ooos like it has became now. And the purity of fundemental basketball has suffered in many ways. Again, this isnt to say Michael Jordan was a cheat or not one of the best. But yeah, its an aspect of the game that I do not like and tarnishes my admiration for Jordan and a few others like Kobe, Lebron etc who absolutely got and get away with things on the court they shouldnt be allowed to do. Thats not even mentioning the Pippen factor. I know Scotty is kind of acting like an ass right now. But if not for Pip, Michael would not have all those rings. Just no denying that. And that would affect his best of all time status no doubt. So there is that. The best ever? I dont really see anyone as the best ever in basketball. There are top players that were just amazing and above others in the profession and each had a specialness about them. Jordan could fly. Magic and his passing. Wilt with his superhuman giantlike point scoring ability and inside game. Larry with his court sense. Kareem and the skyhook and scoring ability. Oscar Peterson running the floor with his amazing skills. Then there is Bill Russell..11 rings. What about Pistol Pete? As a pure player..tough to rule him out as one of the best who ever fundamentally played the game. And thats why I dont and never have cared for this "goat" thing. Basketball is a team sport. As a wise basketplayer once said...You win as a team and you lose as a team. This aint tennis.
