mostly spent training and perfecting 1:19 his craft with the help of his father he 1:21 was a small frail guard who struggled 1:24 when it came to physical play but he 1:26 knew how to get to the rim he would even 1:28 play in the same aaou team as future 1:30 draft classmate Zion Williamson but 1:33 contrary to Zion and despite all jaw's 1:35 efforts no one really cared about him 1:38 after all 2:29 performances as he recorded multiple 2:32 triple doubles and finished the season 2:34 as the first player in NCAA history to 2:36 average more than 20 points and 10 2:38 assists come Draft Day few Scouts were 2:41 even considering him for the number one 2:43 spot but it just so happened that Zion 2:45 hype was too strong jaw was also met 2:47 with a bit of skepticism as multiple 2:49 analysts feared that he would not be 2:51 able to hold his own against the 2:52 physicality of the NBA and that he might 2:55 be an easy target on defense used to 2:57 being an underdog though John Luca jokic Giannis 3:51 they were good right but they didn't fit 3:53 into the culture that needed to be 3:55 marketed towards the American market and 3:58 with the old generation of LeBron Steph 4:00 KD nearing their retirement the NBA 4:02 needed someone to pass the torch to in 4:05 that same offseason jaw would sign a 4:07 $200 million Max contract that would 4:09 make him at just 23 years old one of the 4:12 highest paid players in the league and 4:14 he deserved it as many analysts saw him 4:17 as one of the best players in the league 4:18 with ESPN going as far as making ja 4:21 their ninth best player in the NBA ahead 4:23 of guys like Dame Anthony Davis and 4:25 Jimmy Butler and he would confirm his 4:28 status as one of the League's best as 4:30 jaw would record more triple doubles in 4:32 a single season than any Grizzlies 4:34 player did in their entire career he 4:36 would even earn a second consecutive 4:38 selection to the All-Star Game 4:39 unfortunately though jaw would start to 4:42 show an apparent lack of let's call it 4:44 maturity and would suddenly start to 4:46 lose his whole empire just as fast as he 4:48 built it at that point ja had nearly 4:51 everything Fame and money but he lacked 4:54 one thing and that's wisdom you see jaw 4:57 came from a great family background the 4:59 kind that help helps you achieve your 5:00 goals and get you where you have to go 5:02 he spent his whole childhood grinding 5:04 for a chance to get into the league and 5:06 when he finally got there maybe he 5:08 thought it was time to finally live that 5:10 rebellious cool life that he didn't have 5:13 growing up he started to accumulate 5:16 questionable friends that would slowly 5:18 lead him down the path that really 5:20 wasn't his he started trying to live a 5:22 life that he wasn't made for and this 5:25 would lead to a couple of issues first 5:27 as a superstar in the NBA he needed to 5:29 understand that the spotlight on him is 5:31 enormous he's a role model to millions 5:34 of kids around the globe and with that 5:36 comes a certain responsibility you have 5:38 to understand that any negative behavior 5:40 you show could end up influencing 5:42 thousands of individuals for the 5:44 upcoming generations and also when you 5:46 start trying to get involved in things 5:48 that you don't know much about you have 5:50 no concept of the limits that you should 5:52 not exceed well not until you exceed 5:55 them and then it's too late I mean we 5:57 have NBA players who have had clear gang 5:59 of affiliations but they know that the 6:01 league has very strict guidelines that 6:03 they should follow take for example 6:05 Demar D rozan he is a guy who never 6:07 shied away from making it known that he 6:09 came from Compton not only that but half 6:12 of his family was affiliated with the 6:14 Crips he lost his best friend at a very 6:16 young age due to gang violence and saw 6:18 his uncle get killed over a game of dice 6:21 so a guy like dear who knows the reality 6:24 behind the gang life understands how 6:26 important it is to stay away from it 6:28 well Jah didn't quite get the message 6:30 and before we knew it he was racking up 6:32 controversies left and right talking all 6:34 the wrong kind of stats the first big 6:37 profile one was when he allegedly beat 6:38 up a 17-year-old kid and pointed a gun 6:41 at him over a pickup game now there is 6:43 no reason that anyone should be pulling 6:45 a gun in a basketball pickup game I'm 6:48 going to my car get my other gun much 6:51 less an NBA superstar and celebrity like 6:53 Jaw it's just come on man it's 6:56 basketball his friends would then be the 6:58 ones to cause him even more trouble when 7:00 just a few weeks later he and his 7:02 Entourage would get into a fight with 7:04 players and staff from the Indiana 7:06 Pacers franchise now fights between NBA 7:09 players are nothing new as the Pacers 7:11 certainly know but what's different this 7:13 time is that jaw's friends continue 7:15 badmouthing and verbally fighting with 7:17 the staff for more than 20 minutes after 7:20 getting escorted out of the arena and 7:22 when everyone thought that they had 7:23 gotten into their cars and drove away 7:25 they pointed a red laser at the players 7:27 and the coaching staff now we don't know 7:30 for sure if this was a weapon or not but 7:32 you have to be an idiot to deny that 7:34 that was a pretty serious threat but 7:36 even after these two incidents jaah had 7:39 no intentions of learning his lesson and 7:42 he would end up getting into his most 7:43 considerable controversy yet on the 4th 7:46 of March after a game in Denver he would 7:48 go on Instagram live and show himself 7:51 having some fun with friends in a strip 7:52 club that's not really the controversial 7:54 part well maybe not for some people but 7:57 what if I told you that he also started 7:58 wavering around a gun in the middle of 8:00 the club this was seen by millions of 8:03 shocked Spectators kids no doubt 8:05 included and this was just too much and 8:07 so the league would ban him for eight 8:09 games without pay and jaw would end up 8:11 getting into a counseling program in 8:13 Florida he issued a public apology on 8:16 ESPN saying that full responsibility for 8:19 what happened well the gun wasn't my 8:21 it's not who I am I don't condone and 8:24 know any type of violence um but I take 8:26 you know full responsibility you know 8:28 for my actions so okay not an ideal 8:31 situation the man made some mistakes but 8:33 at least now he's taken responsibility 8:36 and everyone can start to move past it 8:39 right ah J after two whole months of 8:43 incident free jaar and just when the 8:46 public started thinking he may be a 8:47 reformed man jaw would go against the 8:49 wishes of basically everyone around him 8:51 except his quote unquote friends and 8:54 another video of him flashing a gun 8:55 surfaces on the internet the Grizzlies 8:58 would immed immediately suspend him from 9:00 any team activity and one month later 9:02 the NBA would announce that ja was 9:04 suspended for the first 25 games of the 9:07 upcoming season the man had a red carpet 9:10 laid out in front of him leading to a 9:12 life of success and generational wealth 9:15 admiration and respect from peers and 9:18 family but instead he puts it all in 9:20 Jeopardy just so he can look cool on 9:22 Instagram and live a life that isn't his 9:26 lucky for him though J actually seems to 9:29 have the perfect environment to show 9:31 everyone a new face first off after 9:33 drawing so many comparisons to him jaah 9:36 gets D Rose as a veteran guard presence 9:38 in the locker room and while Rose 9:41 clearly stated that he wasn't there to 9:42 Mentor or babysit job his presence will 9:46 only be beneficial to the young star 9:48 this is bigger than both of them having 9:50 the same play style too the thing is 9:52 Derek Rose knows what it's like to reach 9:55 the Pinnacle of NBA stardom before 9:57 crumbling down and having to make a 9:58 comeback 9:59 now obviously the problem that Rose 10:01 faced were entirely out of his control 10:03 but his presence can only be a good 10:06 thing for jaw add to that jaw's 10:08 opportunity to take part in the planned 10:10 us team Avengers Squad that's going to 10:12 take part in the Olympics if he wants it 10:14 it's there he just has to show that he 10:16 deserves that spot and I'm not only 10:18 talking about onc court performances 10:20 either after all playing for the US team 10:22 means representing the entire country 10:25 and there's no way that they're going to 10:26 take someone who's not impeccable both 10:28 on and off off the court he's also 10:30 pretty lucky on the basketball side of 10:32 things too after all out of all the 10:34 young stars in the league he seems to 10:36 have the best team built around him he's 10:38 surrounded by the last two Defensive 10:39 Player of the Year winners in jiren 10:41 Jackson Jr and Marcus Smart and let's 10:44 also not forget about the amazing young 10:45 players that make up the rest of the 10:47 team either with guys like Desmond Bane 10:49 there to take some of the offensive load 10:51 off a jaw everything is set up for him 10:53 to clean up his reputation if he wants 10:56 to but it's now or never this might be 10:59 's last chance to start a new chapter in 11:01 his career and with the NBA world's 11:03 entire eyes glued on him I can't see him 11:06 getting another chance at Redemption I think signing that MAX Rookie extension bonus in 2021-2022 of a "193 MILLION Dollars" for 5 years made him feel like he can do anything he wants. He was only 21 at the time, I believe & now he's 23. The NBA commissioner explained the severity of his actions the 1st time. However, I don't think he got the point cause it's been only like 2 & a half months later from his last 8 game suspension. Calm down his Career is not OVER like the title of this video. The NBA & other teams will always give him many more chances just cause he is an exciting player. Ja knows it & he can afford to lose a few million out of that 193 he got from his MAX Rookie bonus. It's a shame he's causing trouble for himself, but he's a young KID still who has a lot of growing up to do. I'm not saying what he did was right, & yes he should be punished & pay hefty fines as well cause he was warned already from the Team & the NBA commissioner. His lack of respect for their rules doesn't seem to concern him yet, but he will have to learn the hard way after being suspended nearly a 1/3 of his NBA season which should have him losing 7.9 million dollars I believe. 💸 😢.
