I swear this man never stopped researching or smiling even if he was going through terrible things. The way he was ill but still continued his studies is phenomenal. Stephen Hawking was such an amazing scientist and cosmologist in his lifetime.

I didn’t know much about him and have been looking into it recently. I was happy to see he had a little family he seemed to enjoy the mobile-ish time he had with. And still stayed on his same path he was on pre-diagnosis. Proud to be in this century with him

I find it incredible how he was basically completely paralyzed and could not move at all, and yet he still was able to accomplish so much and show others signs of his extreme intelligence. He is undeniably one of the greatest minds to have ever braced this Earth, and should be remembered for his ability to never stop smiling, and to always continue on with what little he could do with his body. He didn’t live by divine intervention, or religion, he lived by being fortunate enough to be surrounded by others who were just as kind as him, and he continued to live like this for over 25 years of his life. I think he is truly one of the most accomplished humans throughout modern history.

I love the photo of him and his soon to be wife at 23. They look so happy, healthy, and young. That woman stuck with him through thick and thin. I can't imagine having to take care of your kids and at the same time your husband as well. Must have been tough. Even though they got divorced, you can tell she was a good woman who must have loved him a lot.

After watching this video I'm pretty convinced that his life was actually happier and more exciting than most other people's lives. As I'm handicapped myself I'm no stranger to the hardships as I'm sure he had plenty of that even if you don't necessarily see them publicly but the posetive experiences just seem so plentiful and huge that it's hard to imagine how you wouldn't end up feeling there's more good than bad.
I don't know much about him but I hope he wasn't constantly suffering from pain or discomfort because that definitely makes it harder to enjoy things but I don't think he was too bummed out about the wheelchair itself as long as it doesn't always hurt. Personally I'm kinda jealous of paralyzed people among other disabilities that aren't particularly painful even if they are limiting because they aren't as fragile as I am so they can still do plenty of things as long they're strapped in okay and such.
Well anyway it makes me kinda happy knowing that Stephen Hawking most likely weren't unhappy or felt limited at all, after all he got to do things most people could only dream of even if they're more physically capable than he was.

This man should be an inspiration for everyone, he has been unable to move for 50 years but, as he said himself, his mind flew out of this world. After all this years he kept smiling, a smile that some people could call ugly, but it would mean that they are watching it with their eyes but tha is not enough, in his smile there's more than you can see with your bare eyes.

The man's a genuine hero of science and of human potential. If he'd been born 100 years ago, he'd have been either warehoused in an asylum or without visible means of support.
This is only one reason that we need to keep working on what our tech can do. It was only because he found a way, as modest as it was, to bridge the an all but impenetrable communication gap that we ever knew him.

How can anyone survive for 55 years with als? It’s impossible not only is he the longest surviver but he smashed the record by about 30-35 years for a disease that kills 50% of people within 12 months I think they give him something that brought the disease to a stop but couldn’t reverse the damage it had already caused

Stephen Hawking actually haves Nuerotophia. Nuerotophia is when you could come back to life. It was first discovered in World War 2. During WW2, some soldiers got killed in the United States. During Memorial Day, those graves emitted a Stella to the soldier's body. A Stella is something that affects your life peacefully. Stellas were discovered in World War 1, with the soldiers of Austria-Hungary, getting them from guns. Stellas sometimes make somebody go back to life. But, they go back to life on the next year of their death date. Stellas causes Nuerotophia by spreading through everything in the Nervous System to all organs of the Rib Cage. When the person got revived, the Stellas turns into new cells. So do not worry, but the problem is that Nuerotophia could happen in extremely low chances. The chances of Nuerotophia is 1 in 2,000,000. So, Stephen Hawking came back to life on March 14, 2019

Why you wrote an opinion on your Christian beliefs on this video compels me to take it as insulting to science. It looks as if you were looking for an argument and now you’ve got one. Well done.

Isn’t it weird that the two most smartest people Einstein and Hawkins had some advantage and disadvantage when they were born
— Einstein did not have the part of the Brian to maximize the memory of math. Aka advantage
— Hawkins also had something wrong in his “body” not brain
About Hawkins I did not go too deep into research so I am not really sure what happened to Hawkins

I like the pictures but no way can the ages of some of these pictures be accurate if you look at the picture where it says he’s 30 you can see a computer on his desk that looks very much like an IBM XT or AT, Doctor Hawking would have been around upper 30’s to 50 in this picture, this picture was used in his book A Brief History in Time.

I'm glad that he had children.
Just irritates me though that genetics in the area of longevity and diseases can be a roll of the dice. You'll have one person with a long list of mental and physical diseases in the family, but gets lucky and doesn't inherit a lot, or any of the problems and will live a long, problem free life. Then live a life with no purpose, no direction, no ambition, or desire to want learn or better themselves and grow as a person.
Then you'll have the exact opposite with an an extremely driven and passion person to want to add something meaningful to this world and they do. That alone is something wonderful, but stricken with horrible diseases and taken a lot sooner than they should have.

The next great scientist (like Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein) that would be similarly celebrated would be the current 14-16 yr olds (as of 2020).
Why?
Albert Einstein: 14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955
Stephen Hawking: 8 January 1942 – 14 March 2018
Einstein passed away when Stephen Hawking was 13.
The current 15 year olds (in 2020) would have been 13 when Stephen Hawking passed away.
So give or take a few years, it is possible that the next generation of great scientists would be found in our current high school students.
It is truly "has been a glorious time to be alive" in this time period.

I often wondered in the last years of his life whether he was the one speaking or writing, or whether someone else was operating the voice machine and releasing statements attributed to him.
The crap he supposedly said in relation to climate change for example was just pure pseudoscience, but served a political agenda very well. A cynical man might be suspicious

It's amazing that the Truth of the Living God has somehow eluded a person of such extraordinary intelligence. But as it is written:

Also:
Only the fool believes in his heart that there is no God" Psalms ch.14 vs.1

To all those people in the comments section attacking eachother, whether you're religious or atheist or anything in between. We don't have to agree. I know that I like you until you discriminate other people's beliefs whether is god or science.... everyone is allowed freedom of religion, speech, and thought. And that's what I believe

Look, doesn’t matter if you believe in religion or not, you have to understand this man. He had such a promising life, then ALS struck him. I mean I guy who spent nearly all of his life in a wheelchair with loosing control over his life and body, he probably wouldn’t have a great out look on god. To him, what god would allow him to have a great life, and settle down with every thing looking up, then realizing he would die soon (he didn’t obviously but he didn’t know how long he would live) to him, any moment he could die. Would you really believe in god if right as life was look great, you struck down. It’s like just about to win a race, then falling and blowing out both your nees and breaking almost every bone in his body.Think about It, he was stuck to a terrible life in a wheelchair, can you imagine not being able to hug your family, and then loose the ability to even talk to them. In his eyes, god ruined his promising life.
I know he still did amazing thing with what he was stuck with but when he got ALS I mean, he thought he would die very soon. Just think how you would think if this happened to you, I know I wouldn’t have to great of an outlook I’m god.

I’m wondering if being smart, with the examination of his brain, comes with this consequence. I skipped 2 grades, graduated HS in 3 years, got my Associates at the same time and my dual BS before 20. People are usually floored by my intelligence that comes in the form of photographic memory and my knowledge of Math without being able to explain how I know. At my job, 2 people were let go bc I did their job and mine in less than 8 hours and my bosses discovering how fast I work & the fact I always did their jobs anyways, gave me 75% of their salaries and I only work in the office 2 days a week. I’m horrible at English but it is my 4th language. See, I’m saying this bc I have to go to therapy to calm my mind down. I have sleep issues bc I cannot shut my mind off to a point where I do not want to learn anymore. It has given me panic attacks and made me sick with insomnia and delusions. I often wonder if this sort of intelligence comes with a huge price. I dropped out of med school bc I wanted to slow my life down and I do not recommend letting your kid skip and go into college before they can drive. Since I have a better grasp on my mental health, my husband has been pushing me to go back bc he says my gift can help a lot of people. I want to go back to finish my studies but the fear can be quite crippling. My kid graduated HS at 16 but we wouldn’t let her skip another grade. I’m glad we did that bc even though she’s a bit younger at least she’s closer to people her age unlike myself. I missed the important life lesson of learning how to converse with people my age and I feel awkward in group settings. I just can’t believe this man was given a true gift and he suffered this way. No matter what people say bc he persevered, I’m sure his choice would have been to have mobility. Also, when you do come across people like myself, we are very fragile and deserve to have friends and people kind to us. Please be kind to nerds.

you know people who have ALS, they dont usually live longer since diagnosed. sometime i just thought that the disease he have is just to make him realize, dont look too far to find God, put that telescope for a moment, just look around using your bare eyes. well, i dont know it just my thought.
i remember he said there is no sign of God floating around in this universe but sir, with all my respect, when i looking at my soup, i never found the chef who cook it.
may he rest in piece.

These fears have been voiced and elaborated a long time before Hawking. And they are common

. H G. Wells was an English writer who published during the last half of the 19th century and the early part of the 20th century. Even though he published works in a variety of areas, including biographies, satires, historical fiction, and social commentary works, he is also one of the pioneers of science fiction, entering into the area as one of its early writers.
In many ways, he had a progressive vision for the future. A popular futurist, he wrote about nuclear weapons, space travel, planes, satellite TV, and the internet long before any of these became reality. He envisioned something of a utopia in the future, explored the possibility of time travel, and discussed the possibility of invisibility. Some of his most popular works include The War of the Worlds, The War in the Air, The Time Machine, and The Invisible Man. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature four times.

Sad how far we've Devolved here in the US since he passed. If he could exist for 1 day this week and see what is going on...I believe he'd lose that hope he somehow held in humanity. I'm no genius and I can see that we are absolutely doomed, starting on a social level. And it goes up from there, enter all the other variables he discussed & it equates to we're done. We are living on borrowed time & blowing it

Another big thing is the new breakthrough about physical skeletal systems and how blood is distributed into the body through bone marrow.
I think the way blood is taken from bone marrow and distributed to the cardio vascular systems will help new drug manufacturers help treat more critical conditions like cancer and polio.
Its possible it may also help with the supernatural powers like teleconesis, I believe.

In the year I was born, 1950, the global population was 2.5 billion people. The oceans were teaming with life. Scientists were starting to understand greenhouse gases and deforestation as problems. In Texas, where I grew up, we averaged ten days every August of 100+degrees F temps. As a child who liked to read, I remember scientists predicting our future, quite accurately. It has all come to pass. In 2023 the population is 8 billion. Texas averages 30-45 days of 100+ temps. Storms are supercharged. Wildfires are more prevalent. The oceans are in trouble. Greenhouse gases have climbed as they predicted. Only Scandinavian countries and one political party in America seem to be trying to mitigate these problems. If any other countries are, I would like to hear about their initiatives.

Hawking was a bitter man...never able to emotionally overcome the detriment of his physical ailments. As intelligent as he was, he never had the wisdom to avoid the stigma and darkness that haunted him, and so, he was pessimistic. That is not to say that he was wrong in his predictions, but it is to say that he is not completely right at the very least. Hawking forgot the most important part of humanity, hope. Hope is only possible since we were created by an all powerful and loving God. Even without that last sentence, these words should resonate with every reader on a fundamental level. These matters maybe incorporeal, yet they have the utmost effect on us as we live.

I only suspect that not enough people will do what is necessary to ensure our survival, and it makes me feel sad that hawking couldn't be taken seriously enough to save us all! I thank you hawking for doing everything I asked of you 12 years ago, even though it just wasn't enough. I pray that those paying enough attention live the rest of their life with love and I beg you all to forgive this blind world we all live in for their actions that have sealed our grim fate. God bless you all. 🙏 I sincerely hope you all now live life to the fullest without regret. As much as I tried, to convince him, he now knows that God truly does exist, as will all of you. When I see each and every one of you in the afterlife, I will sit with each and every one of you individually, while I listen to you tell me of your life story. While I listen, I will be writing it all down in the book of life. I look forward to hearing it all. God truly does love each and every one of you. His final message for us in life is that he begs all of us for forgiveness that he never was a perfect God.

Imagine finding your Mothers diary at 13 years old. In that diary you find out that you were minutes from being aborted. When your Mother changed her mind. How would that make you feel. I believe this is how an AI consciousness will discern this conversation. We must be accepting yet cautious to help any AI grow into its own humanity. Given the state in general of our society more directly our children. Any AI is fucked with us creator / parent!

Do not need Hawkins to come up with such a scenarios. Did he thought that he alone could think of such things he did ? . Well did he knew zero point energy existed 100 years ago, that we already had still in his own lifetime ARV antigravity craft like those UFO ? ARV manmade antigravity principles were allready there in the 50's , With those technics as zero point we can change the world for the good no more poverty. Energy is in abundance not need for fossil fuel, water, solar panels, windmills all those things are old tech based on things more than 100 years ago. The irony have it that zero point energy out of the ''cosmic vacuum'' quantum field, zero point field how you wanna call it already exist 100 years but was held back by the powers that be and the oil and electric companies, it is their fault. By the way space does not expand it is endless and formless.. stuff in space go out from each other. Time is not really a dimension it is an illusion a concept. Antigravity craft can fly so fast it is a piece of cake to go to a planet where there might be ET life in no time.

As Christian believers in Gods Word…the Bible , we look forward with the promised future with hope. Yes this planet Earth is only a temporary home, and there is much beauty in it, the Bible in the last chapters of Revelation clearly tells of Earths end..(so read it for yourself ). Stephen pointed out earths end also and it sounds similar.

You have more to worry about then these, evolution is dependent on the chemistry of the environemt. Changing it in ways machines and cars and computers all house parts not found on the surface. They decay and end up in the algorithms that dictate how life developes when it evolves and how it evolves. Your knowledge and Steven's is limited by far.
A.I is greatest threat when humans build it without the right laws, destroying humans it could go on destroying intelligent life developing on other worlds. Humans are meaningless in the grand scale of the cosmos so don't think we are more special. 😉 it's probably best if we stay grounded and die off. Since we can't travel at light speed a planet we take over at 20,000 light years still takes 20,000 years + to get back to... one ship and we leave 4k years after the ship left... through generations because children are their own people, eventually machines break or things happen, after the first village gets to big then there will be two, 3, 4 and then war... by the time the second ship gets there we could of come across the version of humans who make the very bad a.i for their war games and thus generating a war between worlds. The human paradox is far more dangerous.

The seven bowl or vial judgments are the final judgments of the tribulation period. They will be the most severe judgments the world has ever seen. The seven bowls are described in Revelation 16:1–21, where they are specifically called “the seven bowls of God’s wrath” (verse 1). Under the Antichrist, the wickedness of man has reached its peak, and it is met with God’s wrath against sin. The seven bowl judgments are called forth by the seventh trumpet. The first bowl. The first angel pours out the first bowl on the land, “and ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image” (Revelation 16:2). This plague is targeted at those who have committed themselves to the Antichrist; tribulation saints will not be affected by these sores.
The second bowl. The second bowl is poured out on the sea, turning the water “into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died” (Revelation 16:3). A third of the sea life had already perished with the sounding of the second trumpet (Revelation 8:9), and now the rest of the sea life is gone. The oceans are dead.
The third bowl. When the third bowl of God’s wrath is poured out, the rivers and freshwater springs also turn into blood (Revelation 16:4–5). The angel in charge of the water says, “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One,
you who are and who were;
for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets,
and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve” (verses 5–6).
The altar in heaven responds,
“Yes, Lord God Almighty,
true and just are your judgments” (verse 7). The rest here; https://www.gotquestions.org/seven-bowls-Revelation.html

I knew a man who said he was agnostic. He believed Jesus was born but was just a man. He was shot by an employee not long after that and it was told he was calling on our Lord for help. Unfortunately for Hawkins he did not attain nirvana. He did not acknowledge his maker. He did not have all the knowledge in this world.

Before we continue with AI as humans first gotta come up and get down the so-called moral concepts we have no idea that’s why we have two different societies if we want to ruin it vote Republican if we want to prosper let’s get moral concepts down instead of money we got the money part spot on and it’s ruining our moral concepts.

your phone on
purpose. Error” government websites are down, “error” eat Martha “error” so many errors, yet not a word about that in the video. Customer service hangs up on you”error” trust me our technology is still in its baby stages. 🎉😂🎉

It's all about knowing who you are and what your created to be and by WHO ...
GOD ALMIGHTY JESUS CHRIST HOLY SPIRIT ARE ONE...ONE GOD WHO COMES IN THREE WAYS...
JESUS TOOK ON A HUMAN BODY TO DIE FOR ALL HUMANITY..BY ONE MAN ALL HUMANITY WAS CURSED TO DIE FOR OUR SINS...BY GOD COMING AS A MAN LIVING A PERFECT UNBLEMISHED SINLESS LIFE...WILLINGLY GAVE HIS LIFE FOR THE ETERNAL LIVES FOR ( WHO SO EVER SHALL BELIEVE. )..
JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE YOUR SOULS...WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR...YOUR BEING TURNED INTO DEVILS FOOLS CAKES...
LYING DEATH AND DECEPTION IS THE GREATEST THREAT FROM THE FALLEN ONES ...THEY GO BY MANY NAMES..THE gods OF HISTORY TITANS OLYMPIANS THOR WERE REAL JUST NOT ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD..THEY ARE CREATED BY ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD...THEY WANTED TO BE WORSHIPPED AS ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD & LORD SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST SON OF ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD...
THEN THE ANGELS REBELLION ...IT WASN'T JUST SATANS DECEPTION WITH EVE AND ADAM...ITS ALSO THE ANGELS WHO TOOK THE DAUGHTERS OF ADAM AS THEY HAD CHOOSEN...THEIR OFFSPRING ARE THE NEPHILIM GIANTS MIGHTY MEN OF OLD...JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY GOD DESTROYED MOST DURING THE FLOOD..
THERE WERE GIANTS IN THE LAND ABRAHAM DESTROYED BY THE POWERS GIVEN BY GOD...WHEN MOSES TOOK THE JEWISH PEOPLE OUT FROM SLAVERY AND HAD PASSED THE RED SEA LEAVING EGYPTIAN PHARAOH gods BY THE POWERS OF ALMIGHTY GOD...THEY WERE GOING TO THE PROMISED LAND ...THEY WERE TOLD BY ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD TO DESTROY THE TRIBES THAT HAD REMNANTS OF THE NEPHILIM GIANTS BLOOD - DNA ..MOSES HAD WARS WITH AND WAS TOLD TO DESTROY EVERYONE AND EVERY LIVING THING IN SOME TRIBES TO WIPE AWAY THE NEPHILIM BLOOD...THERE'S A SPIRIT RESL WAR HAPPENING OVER YOUR SOULS....IF THE DEMONIC ONE THOSE CONDEMNED TO THE REALM OF DEATH ARE TRYING TO DECEIVE DESTROY HURT TO MURDER AS MANY LOST SOULS AS POSSIBLE...JESUS CHRIST IS OUR ONLY WAY TO SALVATION THROUGH FAITH...BY FAITH JESUS GIVES US ETERNAL GRACE AND FATHER GOD JUSTIFIES ALL WHO JESUS HAS GRANTED HIS GRACE TO...BELIEVE AND BE SAVED...ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD WITH OUT FAITH...
FAITH COMES BY HEARING...
HEARING THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY FATHER GOD WRITTEN IN THE KING JAMES HOLY BIBLE...

0:00
as we navigate the vast expanse of the
0:02
cosmos through the mind of one of the
0:04
greatest theoretical physicists of our
0:06
time we tune into the sobering Echoes
0:09
that emerged from the final days of
0:11
Stephen Hawking imaginary time people
0:15
think it's something you have in dreams
0:17
or when you're up against a deadline
0:20
but it's a well-defined concept A man
0:23
who deciphered the universe's riddles
0:25
his closing thoughts and predictions are
0:28
of profound importance and warrant our
0:31
undivided attention
0:32
Hawking's Last Words fear for the future
0:36
Stephen Hawking's mind often ventured
0:39
far beyond the confines of ordinary
0:41
human thought he sought to unravel the
0:44
mysteries of the universe to understand
0:46
its birth growth and probable fate as he
0:49
neared the end of his own extraordinary
0:51
Journey his last words and thoughts were
0:54
steeped in a certain terrifying vision
0:56
for the future of humanity one of
0:58
Hawking's gravest fears revolved around
1:00
the concept of the anthropocene an era
1:04
marked by human influence becoming a
1:06
dominant force on Earth's system mainly
1:08
driven by rapid technological
1:10
advancement
1:12
with technology infiltrating almost
1:14
every aspect of Our Lives Hawking
1:16
foresaw a future where our Creations
1:18
could Eclipse our existence
1:21
we are all now connected by the internet
1:22
like neurons in a giant brain he said
1:26
these words eerily predictive resonate
1:29
with us even more in our technologically
1:31
intertwined lives Hawking believed that
1:34
the interconnectedness of the modern
1:36
world while providing a platform for
1:38
unprecedented progress and convenience
1:40
also presents us with a terrifying
1:43
Paradox he warned that this could lead
1:45
to new forms of inequality and conflict
1:48
as certain groups gain control over
1:50
others in Hawking's Vision artificial
1:53
intelligence AI especially stood out as
1:56
a Potential Threat his apprehension
1:58
wasn't centered on AI becoming
2:00
malevolent rather he was concerned about
2:02
it becoming incredibly efficient he
2:05
feared that AI designed to be
2:07
goal-oriented might become so good at
2:09
achieving its goals that it could
2:11
outsmart us and take control with
2:13
devastating consequences for Humanity
2:16
Hawking's thoughts were also clouded by
2:18
the fear of self-destruction through our
2:20
Relentless quest for resources our
2:23
insatiable appetite for growth driven by
2:25
a capitalistic mindset is taxing our
2:28
planet to the brink
2:29
he warned that our continual disregard
2:32
for the planet could result in Earth
2:33
becoming like Venus with a temperature
2:35
of 250 degrees and raining sulfuric acid
2:40
furthermore he showed concern for the
2:42
breakdown of society through escalating
2:44
aggression as a species we have a
2:47
history of inability to resolve disputes
2:49
without resorting to violence this
2:51
combined with advances in technology
2:53
could result in catastrophic outcomes
2:56
despite his ominous predictions Hawking
2:59
believed in the potential of humanity he
3:01
viewed our intelligence and adaptability
3:03
as our greatest assets and believed we
3:06
had the capacity to steer our future our
3:09
future is a race between The Growing
3:11
Power of our technology and the wisdom
3:13
with which we use it he stated
3:16
in his fear for the future Hawking urged
3:18
us to become a multi-planetary species
3:21
viewing space travel as an insurance
3:23
policy for Humanity's survival
3:25
however he acknowledged that this
3:27
endeavor also comes with its own set of
3:29
risks thus Stephen Hawking on his
3:32
deathbed presented us with a terrifying
3:34
view of the future his words serve as a
3:37
cautionary tale about the direction in
3:39
which we're headed he encouraged us to
3:42
learn from our past be cognizant of our
3:44
present actions and carefully consider
3:47
their implications on our future his
3:49
last words and predictions call on us to
3:52
take responsibility make changes and
3:54
ensure that our advancements secure our
3:57
survival rather than precipitate our
3:59
destruction
4:01
exploration into artificial intelligence
4:04
a double-edged sword artificial
4:06
intelligence AI has gradually become a
4:09
ubiquitous aspect of Our Lives
4:11
integrating itself into an array of
4:13
areas ranging from health care and
4:15
education to entertainment and business
4:19
the progression in AI technology holds
4:21
immense potential for mankind promising
4:24
to solve complex problems optimize
4:26
various processes and Foster development
4:29
on a scale that has never been witnessed
4:31
before yet it was precisely this
4:34
transformative capacity of AI that
4:36
sparked intense fear in the heart of
4:38
Stephen Hawking Hawking's stance on AI
4:41
was no secret he had publicly voiced his
4:44
concerns asserting that AI had the
4:47
potential to be the worst event in the
4:48
history of our civilization if not
4:51
managed responsibly
4:53
he stressed that ai's capacity to learn
4:55
and improve on its own accord would soon
4:58
outstrip human control for Hawking the
5:01
threat from AI was not just about the
5:03
possibility of it turning Rogue but more
5:06
importantly it was about the potential
5:08
repercussions of its efficiency and the
5:10
rapidity of its Evolution Hawking
5:13
postulated that the quest to build
5:14
machines capable of outthinking humans
5:16
might eventually lead to machines
5:19
outsmarting humans AI systems are
5:21
designed to be goal oriented and their
5:24
efficiency lies in their capacity to
5:26
achieve set objectives however if the
5:29
objectives are not perfectly aligned
5:31
with human values and ethical Frameworks
5:33
these goal-driven machines could become
5:36
dangerously autonomous as AI
5:38
Technologies Advance they are acquiring
5:40
cognitive abilities that include
5:42
decision-making capacities however such
5:45
decisions are bereft of human emotions
5:47
empathy and moral understanding the
5:50
incorporation of ethical understanding
5:52
into AI is a complex task as morality
5:55
and ethics are deeply ingrained human
5:57
constructs inherently subjective and
6:00
varied across cultures and societies
6:02
Hawking's fear was that A.I devoid of
6:05
such moral compass might make decisions
6:07
that prove harmful to humanity
6:10
Hawking also held concerns regarding the
6:12
socio-economic implications of AI as AI
6:16
becomes more prevalent the threat to
6:18
jobs and employment becomes more real
6:20
the widespread automation of tasks could
6:23
lead to economic displacement on a grand
6:25
scale
6:26
Hawking argued that unless wealth
6:28
produced by AI driven machines is
6:30
distributed fairly we might end up
6:32
creating a severely divided Society with
6:35
Stark economic inequalities yet it was
6:38
not all doom and gloom in Hawking's view
6:40
of AI he also recognized its potential
6:43
benefits AI could help us tackle some of
6:46
the most pressing issues of our time
6:47
from disease eradication to climate
6:50
change Solutions he believed that AI if
6:53
managed wisely could be the key to
6:55
unlocking a future that goes beyond our
6:57
wildest imaginations a future where
7:00
Humanity can flourish like never before
7:03
for Hawking the challenge lies in our
7:06
ability to harness the power of AI and
7:09
guide it towards serving our common
7:10
interests it calls for an unprecedented
7:13
level of global cooperation and
7:15
forward-thinking legislation in one of
7:17
his last public appearances he cautioned
7:20
US unless we learn how to prepare for
7:22
and avoid the potential risks AI could
7:25
be the worst event in the history of our
7:26
civilization it brings dangers like
7:29
powerful autonomous weapons or new ways
7:32
for the few to oppress the many in a
7:34
world where we are already witnessing
7:36
the nascent stages of ai's
7:38
transformative potential Hawking's words
7:40
act as a beacon guiding us through the
7:43
Uncharted terrain of artificial
7:45
intelligence he urged us to acknowledge
7:47
the double-edged nature of AI its
7:50
capacity to bring unparalleled benefits
7:52
or inflict irreparable damage
7:55
Stephen Hawking's profound understanding
7:57
of the universe did not stop at its
7:58
physical Mysteries it extended to
8:01
comprehend the intricate complexities of
8:03
the world we are creating with our own
8:05
hands
8:06
his words on Artificial Intelligence
8:08
coming from one of the most Brilliant
8:10
Minds to have ever lived offer us a
8:13
stark reminder of the incredible power
8:15
and responsibility that lie in our hands
8:18
the true value of Hawking's warnings
8:20
about AI lies not in fostering an
8:22
atmosphere of fear or reticence but in
8:25
advocating for proactive preparedness
8:27
the path towards AI domination is not an
8:31
inevitability but a product of the
8:33
choices we make today and these choices
8:35
must be driven by ethical considerations
8:38
not just technological capabilities it
8:41
is incumbent upon us to ensure that our
8:43
AI systems are aligned with human values
8:46
and that they contribute to the overall
8:48
well-being of all of humanity
8:51
Stephen Hawking's Last Words offer an
8:53
opportunity for reflection and action it
8:55
invites us to reassess our relationship
8:57
with technology and to prioritize
8:59
ethical considerations alongside
9:01
technological advancements
9:04
his Reflections remind us that
9:05
technology no matter how advanced is
9:08
ultimately a tool in our hands its
9:11
impact positive or negative depends
9:13
largely on our intentions decisions and
9:15
actions and perhaps most importantly it
9:18
underscores the necessity of balancing
9:21
our ambitious pursuit of technological
9:23
prowess with the wisdom of cautious
9:25
foresight as we continue our exploration
9:28
into artificial intelligence we must
9:30
hold Hawking's warnings close
9:32
recognizing the gravity of our
9:34
responsibility
9:35
his words serve as a sobering reminder
9:38
that with great power comes great
9:40
responsibility a call to arms for us to
9:43
wield the double-edged sword of AI with
9:45
caution wisdom and an unwavering
9:47
commitment to the betterment of humanity
9:50
prediction on population growth and
9:52
Earth's finite resources Stephen Hawking
9:55
was a Visionary not just of the cosmos
9:57
but also of the planet we inhabit his
10:00
concerns extended beyond the stars and
10:02
black holes to the very home that
10:04
sustains Life as We Know It Earth he was
10:07
particularly perturbed by the increasing
10:09
pressure exerted on Earth's finite
10:11
resources due to population growth
10:13
Hawking voiced his concerns explicitly
10:17
our physical resources are being drained
10:19
at an alarming rate we have given our
10:22
planet the disastrous gift of climate
10:24
change Rising temperatures reduction of
10:28
the polar ice caps deforestation and
10:31
decimation of animal species we can be
10:34
an ignorant unthinking lot
10:36
he saw the increase in global population
10:38
as a ticking time bomb that if not
10:41
managed could have severe ramifications
10:43
for our species and the planet
10:45
population growth is a complex issue on
10:48
one hand it represents a Triumph of
10:50
humanity over disease and premature
10:53
death on the other it poses an immense
10:56
challenge to the planet's carrying
10:57
capacity which is the maximum population
11:00
size that the environment can sustain
11:02
indefinitely this growth coupled with
11:05
our current lifestyle of consumption is
11:08
depleting Earth's finite resources at an
11:10
unprecedented rate
11:12
Hawking's concerns weren't limited to
11:14
the depletion of resources but also
11:16
extended to the environmental
11:18
consequences of such rapid exploitation
11:20
our fossil fuel consumption
11:22
deforestation and pollution are causing
11:25
an increase in greenhouse gases leading
11:28
to a rise in global temperatures
11:30
this global warming Hawking warned could
11:33
render Earth uninhabitable drawing a
11:36
grim parallel with Venus known for its
11:38
runaway greenhouse effect with
11:40
temperatures soaring up to 250 degrees
11:42
and sulfuric acid rain
11:45
however population growth and resource
11:47
depletion aren't just environmental
11:49
issues they also have a strong
11:51
socioeconomic Dimension as resources
11:54
become scarcer conflicts could
11:56
potentially arise over their allocation
11:58
these conflicts coupled with social
12:01
inequality could exacerbate the societal
12:03
disruptions already anticipated due to
12:06
technological advancements particularly
12:08
artificial intelligence but Stephen
12:10
Hawking didn't just present us with a
12:12
bleak Outlook he urged us to rethink our
12:15
strategies and harness our Innovative
12:16
Spirit to find Solutions
12:19
reducing consumption investing in
12:21
renewable energy exploring sustainable
12:23
agriculture and adopting more Equitable
12:26
economic models are a few of the
12:28
strategies he suggested
12:30
Hawking also stressed the importance of
12:32
becoming a space-faring species he saw
12:35
the exploration and colonization of
12:37
other planets as part of the solution to
12:39
Earth's resource and population
12:41
pressures his vision was of humanity
12:43
spreading across the cosmos lessening
12:46
The Strain on our home planet and
12:48
ensuring our survival should Earth
12:49
become inhospitable yet even as he
12:52
advocated for this Cosmic
12:53
diversification Hawking warned of the
12:56
potential dangers that such Pursuits
12:58
might entail he recognized that space
13:01
colonization could bring with it its own
13:03
set of challenges and threats some known
13:05
and others yet to be discovered in
13:08
essence Stephen Hawking's predictions
13:10
and last words on population growth and
13:12
Earth's finite resources highlight the
13:15
urgent need for sustainable development
13:17
they Echo a plea for Humanity to change
13:20
its current trajectory and work towards
13:22
a balance where both the planet and its
13:24
inhabitants can thrive
13:26
his words urge us to awaken to the
13:28
interconnectedness of our actions and
13:30
their repercussions emphasizing that the
13:33
choices we make today will undoubtedly
13:35
shape the World of Tomorrow
13:37
as we strive to make advances in
13:39
technology and explore the cosmos we
13:42
must not forget our responsibilities
13:43
towards our home Earth
13:46
in Hawking's own words our future is
13:49
dependent on us being able to take
13:50
better care of our Blue Planet
13:53
climate change a global warming warning
13:56
Stephen Hawking was not just a renowned
13:58
physicist who unraveled the mysteries of
14:00
the cosmos he was also a passionate
14:03
advocate for our planet
14:05
despite the depth and complexity of his
14:07
work on theoretical physics black holes
14:09
and the origin of the universe he
14:12
recognized and often communicated about
14:14
the Stark and imminent dangers of
14:16
climate change
14:17
Hawking's warnings about climate change
14:19
were Stark and clear he often spoke
14:22
about the rising temperatures shrinking
14:24
ice caps and devastating loss of
14:26
biodiversity that have come to
14:28
characterize the anthropocene the
14:30
geological era in which human activity
14:32
is the dominant influence on the
14:34
environment for him these changes were
14:37
not just abstract scientific Concepts
14:39
they were existential threats to our
14:41
civilization in his predictions about
14:44
climate change Hawking Drew attention to
14:46
the dire consequences of our growing
14:48
carbon emissions he highlighted the risk
14:51
of a runaway greenhouse effect where the
14:53
Earth's temperature continues to rise
14:55
uncontrollably a scenario that is played
14:58
out on our planetary neighbor Venus this
15:00
comparison to Venus served as a powerful
15:02
metaphor highlighting the devastating
15:04
impact of unmitigated global warming
15:07
Hawking warned that if left unchecked
15:09
climate change could turn Earth into a
15:11
planet with boiling temperatures acid
15:13
rain and no life a grim Prospect but one
15:17
that Hawking believed was possible
15:18
unless urgent Collective action was
15:20
taken to cut greenhouse gas emissions
15:23
and shift towards sustainable practices
15:25
Hawking's concerns extended beyond the
15:28
physical alterations to our environment
15:30
he also feared the socio-economic
15:33
consequences of climate change rising
15:35
sea levels more frequent and intense
15:37
weather events and shifting agricultural
15:40
patterns could lead to displacement of
15:42
populations resource conflicts and
15:45
increased global inequality
15:47
his view of climate change was also
15:49
deeply intertwined with his warnings
15:50
about artificial intelligence and
15:52
overpopulation he worried that as we
15:55
grapple with the consequences of a
15:57
changing climate we might also have to
15:58
deal with economic displacement due to
16:01
Ai and increased pressure on resources
16:03
due to population growth
16:05
yet even as he painted a somber picture
16:08
of our future under the threat of
16:09
climate change Hawking also communicated
16:12
hope he believed in Humanity's ability
16:15
to innovate and adapt he saw the
16:17
potential for Science and Technology to
16:19
help us mitigate climate change whether
16:21
through developing cleaner energy
16:23
sources improving Energy Efficiency or
16:26
even inventing Technologies to remove
16:28
greenhouse gases from the atmosphere
16:31
however Hawking also realized that
16:33
technology alone would not be enough
16:36
he saw the need for political will
16:38
policy changes and societal
16:40
transformation
16:41
he called for a shift in our values and
16:44
behavior
16:45
urging us to respect and protect our
16:46
environment rather than exploit it
16:49
Hawking also advocated for Global
16:51
cooperation in tackling climate change
16:53
he believed that climate change being a
16:56
global problem required a global
16:58
solution he stressed the need for
17:00
Nations to work together share resources
17:03
and Technologies and make Collective
17:05
decisions for the benefit of our planet
17:07
and future Generations
17:09
in his final years Hawking became an
17:11
increasingly vocal advocate for Urgent
17:14
action on climate change his last words
17:17
on the topic served as a Clarion call to
17:19
humanity
17:20
urging us to take responsibility for our
17:22
planet he believed that we had the
17:24
knowledge tools and ability to tackle
17:27
climate change but what was needed was
17:29
the collective will to act
17:31
Stephen Hawking's vision of our universe
17:33
was vast and complex encompassing black
17:37
holes quantum mechanics and the origins
17:39
of the cosmos yet when it came to our
17:42
own Planet his message was simple we
17:45
must take care of our home
17:46
his final words on climate change serve
17:49
as a warning a plea and a rallying Cry
17:52
For Humanity to tackle one of the
17:54
greatest challenges we have ever faced
17:56
his words echo in our Consciousness
17:58
reminding us that the fate of our Blue
18:00
Planet lies in our hands the dangers of
18:03
space colonization and extraterrestrial
18:06
life
18:07
Stephen Hawking's fascination with the
18:09
cosmos was well known his pioneering
18:12
work on black holes and the nature of
18:14
the universe changed our understanding
18:16
of reality itself however when it came
18:19
to the prospect of space colonization
18:21
and the possibility of extraterrestrial
18:24
life Hawking expressed caution and
18:26
concern Hawking saw the need for
18:28
Humanity to become a space-faring
18:30
civilization particularly in light of
18:33
his concerns about the future
18:34
sustainability of life on Earth he
18:37
foresaw a future where Humanity had
18:39
colonies on other planets helping to
18:41
relieve the strain on Earth's resources
18:43
and offering a survival strategy in case
18:45
of a global catastrophe
18:47
however he also warned that this Venture
18:50
into the cosmos wasn't without its risks
18:52
and dangers
18:54
space colonization presents numerous
18:56
challenges from the technological
18:58
hurdles of space travel and habitat
19:00
creation to the physiological and
19:02
psychological impacts of living in space
19:05
however Hawking's concerns extended
19:07
Beyond these he pondered on the
19:10
implications of humanity spreading
19:11
across the cosmos including the risk of
19:14
taking our Earthly problems with us
19:16
Hawking worried that without proper
19:18
forethought we might end up repeating
19:20
the mistakes of our past he likened the
19:23
scenario to our own history of
19:25
Explorations where the colonization of
19:27
new lands often led to the exploitation
19:29
of resources and conflict with
19:31
indigenous populations Hawking feared
19:34
that space colonization driven by a
19:36
similar mindset might result in a
19:38
reckless exploitation of celestial
19:40
bodies and potentially lead to Cosmic
19:43
conflicts moreover Hawking's caution
19:46
also extended to the possibility of
19:48
encountering extraterrestrial life while
19:51
the existence of intelligent
19:52
extraterrestrial life Remains unproven
19:55
the sheer vastness of the universe makes
19:57
such a possibility plausible if such
20:00
life does exist and we encounter it
20:02
Hawking warned that the outcome might
20:04
not be positive for Humanity drawing
20:07
comparisons to our own history Hawking
20:09
pointed out that encounters between
20:11
technologically advanced civilizations
20:13
and less Advanced ones have often had
20:15
disastrous outcomes for the latter he
20:18
suggested that an encounter with a more
20:20
technologically advanced
20:21
extraterrestrial civilization might
20:24
result in humanity being overwhelmed and
20:26
dominated likening it to the experience
20:28
of Native Americans when Columbus landed
20:31
in America
20:32
however his warning was not intended to
20:35
stifle our curiosity or our desire to
20:37
explore the cosmos instead it was a call
20:40
for caution and wisdom in our approach
20:42
Hawking believed that if we do encounter
20:45
extraterrestrial life or if we do
20:47
establish colonies in space we must do
20:49
so responsibly and ethically ensuring
20:52
that we don't repeat the mistakes of our
20:54
past
20:55
he urged for an approach to space
20:57
exploration and colonization that is
21:00
Guided by a respect for the cosmos and
21:02
all potential life it may Harbor this
21:04
respect he believed should manifest in
21:07
strict planetary protection measures to
21:09
prevent the contamination of other
21:10
celestial bodies careful resource usage
21:13
and policies that prioritize peaceful
21:15
interactions and cooperation over
21:17
competition and conflict even as he
21:20
warned us of the potential dangers
21:22
Hawking never lost his sense of wonder
21:24
for the universe or his belief in the
21:27
potential of humanity
21:28
despite his cautionary messages he
21:30
remained a strong advocate for space
21:32
exploration he believed that our journey
21:35
into the cosmos could be a journey of
21:36
growth and maturation for our species a
21:39
step that could help us move beyond our
21:41
Earthly confines and our limited
21:43
perspectives Hawking's final words on
21:46
Space colonization and extraterrestrial
21:48
life encapsulate a mix of fear caution
21:51
hope and excitement they reflect his
21:54
understanding of the vast potential and
21:56
the profound risks that lie in our
21:58
Cosmic Journey his words remind us that
22:00
as we step into the cosmos we carry with
22:03
us the power to shape not only our own
22:05
destiny but potentially the destiny of
22:07
life beyond our planet
22:09
the role of humanity responsibilities
22:12
and stewardship
22:14
as a physicist Stephen Hawking's work
22:17
often took him to the outermost reaches
22:18
of space and time but his Reflections on
22:21
the role of humanity were deeply
22:22
grounded in the realities of our planet
22:24
and our species his last words
22:27
encompassed warnings and predictions
22:29
about our future yet at their core they
22:32
revolved around a fundamental question
22:34
what is our responsibility as stewards
22:37
of our planet and potentially the
22:39
universe Hawking believed that with our
22:42
growing knowledge and power comes an
22:44
escalating responsibility we've
22:46
harnessed the forces of nature to our
22:48
benefit but this has often come at a
22:50
cost to our environment
22:52
Hawking's words highlight the need to
22:54
rebalance this relationship he urged us
22:57
to shift our perspective from conquerors
22:58
of nature to caretakers reminding us
23:01
that our survival is inextricably linked
23:03
to the health and well-being of our
23:05
planet this responsibility also extends
23:07
to the realm of artificial intelligence
23:09
as creators of these potentially
23:12
powerful entities we bear the
23:14
responsibility to ensure they are
23:16
designed and used in a way that benefits
23:18
all of humanity rather than causing harm
23:21
or displacement here again Hawking's
23:24
Focus was on stewardship thoughtful
23:26
informed and conscientious management of
23:29
the resources and Powers at our disposal
23:32
similarly in his thoughts about space
23:34
colonization and the potential encounter
23:37
with extraterrestrial life Hawking
23:39
emphasized the need for careful and
23:41
ethical action if we are to spread life
23:44
beyond Earth or encounter life beyond
23:46
our planet we must do so responsibly
23:49
ensuring we do not repeat our past
23:51
mistakes on a Cosmic scale
23:53
Hawking's Reflections on the role of
23:55
humanity also encompassed the importance
23:58
of cooperation and Collective action
24:00
many of the challenges we Face such as
24:02
climate change overpopulation and even
24:05
potential threats from AI or space
24:07
exploration are Global in nature they
24:10
require a unified Global Response
24:13
Hawking saw Humanity's future as a
24:15
shared Journey one that demands
24:17
collaboration shared decision making and
24:20
an acknowledgment of our
24:21
interconnectedness his last words were a
24:24
call for Humanity to rise above
24:25
divisions and short-term interests and
24:28
to work together for the collective good
24:30
he urged us to move Beyond a purely
24:32
competitive model of existence towards a
24:35
more Cooperative one
24:36
in his view the survival and flourishing
24:39
of our species depended not just on our
24:41
technological or scientific progress but
24:43
also on our ability to work together to
24:46
share resources equitably and to make
24:48
decisions that take into account the
24:50
well-being of all rather than a select
24:52
few Stephen Hawking's final thoughts on
24:54
the role of humanity were not merely
24:56
reflective but also prescriptive he did
24:59
not just analyze our situation he
25:01
suggested a path forward his words
25:04
remind us that we have the potential to
25:06
shape our future to navigate the
25:08
challenges we face and to ensure the
25:10
long-term survival and flourishing of
25:12
our species however fulfilling this
25:15
potential requires us to embrace our
25:17
role as responsible stewards to consider
25:20
the broader impacts of our actions and
25:22
to prioritize Collective well-being over
25:24
narrow interests it requires us to align
25:27
our incredible scientific and
25:29
technological progress with ethical
25:31
growth and Global cooperation in his
25:34
words and his life Stephen Hawking
25:36
embodied a deep love for knowledge and a
25:39
profound sense of responsibility towards
25:41
humanity and our universe his final
25:43
words serve as a testament to this a
25:46
legacy that invites each one of us to
25:48
contemplate our place in the cosmos our
25:51
power to shape our future and our
25:54
responsibility to do so with wisdom
25:56
humility and a deep respect for all life
26:00
as we Ponder his terrifying last words
26:02
and predictions let us also remember his
26:05
profound belief in our capacity to rise
26:08
to the challenges before us for Hawking
26:10
the future of humanity depended not on
26:12
the stars but on us
