Western Pictures ,Western action/adventure, The Professionals. Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin
Burt Lancaster and Lee Marvin headline the top-notch, rip-roaring Western action/adventure, The Professionals. Four soldiers of fortune are hired by a wealthy Texan oil baron (Ralph Bellamy) to rescue his kidnapped wife (Claudia Cardinale), who's been spirited across the Mexican Border by a band of mercenaries led by Jesus Raza (Jack Palance). The four rugged professionals, each regarded as a specialist in his selected field - an expert marksman and tracker (Woody Strode), the explosives master(Lancaster), horse handler (Robert Ryan) and one skilled in tactics and weaponry (Marvin) - make their way across the treacherous landscape to retrieve the beautiful kidnappee, but discover all is not what it seems in the explosive climax. Excellent performances from an all-star cast, Maurice Jarre's haunting musical score and surprising plot twists make The Professionals a true classic. The Professionals garnered three Academy Award® nominations; two for Richard Brooks (Best Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay) and another for the esteemed Conrad Hall (Best Cinematography). The filmmakers received the same nominations the following year for the true crime classic, In Cold Blood.

Thanks for posting for free a classic like this movie. Hollywood would never be able to produce something like this today. They just don’t have the actors today that have the screen presence like the actors in this movie have

If you want to know how good an actor Lee Marvin was closely watch the reaction and expression on his face when he is told on the train by Grant how much money he is going to be paid. You just don't see this anymore. One of my all time favorite tough guy actors. Semper Fi Lee.

Can't go wrong with Lee Marvin and Woody Strode in it. Watched it before but it is definitely worth another look see. I agree with others that stated this kind of movie could not be made in today's market. Don't go to the movies anymore with the extremely vulgar language and excessive violence.

lee marvin turned down THE WILD BUNCH 1969,because he said it was to like this film also instead he did PAINT YOUR WAGON 1969 for 1 million bucks..but marvin gave sam peckinpah the idea of bank robbers dressed as soldiers of 1914 for THE WILD BUNCH.director george roy hill loved the photography of conrad hall that he wanted him for BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID 1969 winning an oscar for that film(he was nominated for this film in 1966 for best cinematography.director richard brooks was nominated for best director also for this film.

Why does this film remind me a lot of The Predator from the 80's. Did that film's director get his inspiration from this western ?
