My mom's youth was the '50s. She and dad raised me with all this music and period entertainment. It was as if I'd been there too. So much color. So much music and movement and life! It's no history to me. It's 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡. Flesh and blood. Now she and dad are home with the Lord. The end brought tears to my eyes, remembering them, Nat King Cole's vinyl record on the turntable...their lives, this tribute to their young years, long before I was but a glimmer in their eyes. Unforgettable indeed. Thank you for capturing the moment so accurately more than half a century later. I was particularly impressed with how you created a musical/dance tapestry which captured the essence of the pre-color-TV, black-and-white-TV-world of the 1950s (assuming your family was fortunate to even own one then) which made so many BIG SCREEN MOVIES you incorporated absolute "must sees" in a "proper" movie theater. :-) No flashback political commentaries, just a parade of the remarkable stars from the GREATEST GENERATION who appeared in what would now be low-tech, yet very powerful dramas and memorable musicals but without all the Super Nova special effects and in sharp contrast to today's flood of non-stop action hero flicks ... Amazing how cinema changed so quickly in the turbulent 60s, but I felt the way you paired 50 theme songs with carefully selected video snipets captured the genuine ERA FEELING of being young again during those arguably happier times. Would like to have seen more variety in entertainers and non-Hollywood culture such as HS football and the cheerleaders of the day. Floyd Patterson was the undefeated heavyweight champ until he encountered Ingemar Johansson. And the latter's only losses as a professional were to Floyd in two rematches. Elvis absolutely dominated the music but that didn't come through as much as it should have. And where was Jerry Lee? Kudos for including Brando's "I coulda been somebody." from On the Waterfront and the brief clip from Shane. Many young people today have never head of Elizabeth Taylor or Marlon Brando. And when it comes to cinema the 50s had some the best from Disney classics like Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan to Arthouse classics Like Rashomon, A Streetcar Named Desire and Rebel without a Cause. And you can’t forget classic movie musicals such as An American in Paris and Singing in the Rain Overall you make amazing tributes to various entertainment and pop culture and I love the amount of work and effort you put in tributes and you know how to capture the atmosphere of each decade in you tributes. This is what we grew up with. I saw every movie shown in clips here except for Elvis. I was not a fan. But if you want to understand old people, this is a start. Every female star was beautiful, desirable and a virgin. Every male star was strong, handsome and straight. They were pretty much all white. These clips ease past the stereotypes.
