Hes a generational talent. Hes constantly improving. Its hist first year in the big leagues, and hes slamming dunks on the veteran centers, blocking their shots, can dribble the ball when needed, blocking 3s from people who are KNOWN to knock em down, AND to top it off, hes always stretching before the game with albeit weird motions, but improving his general muscle density and elasticity to avoid easy injuries. If he can manage that, find a health balance of weight to muscle ratio, hes gonna probably be in the top 10 C/PF talks. But at the same time, we gotta acknowledge that his team isnt focusing directly on him. And I think it might be due to fatigue issues. They dont want the young star they have to get tired doing extra flashy moves or alleys too often, but like Ive been seeing in games, and in the comments, theyre constantly missing him on wide open attempts in the paint. Sochan is a decent PG, but he has a better chemistry with their other players at the PG spot. People was throwing hate at him after a few summer league games ... but what about now? Have you seen the learning curve he's put on, the level he displays after 32 games (and still what is to come)? People keep saying "he should put on muscles like Giannis ..." - Come on dude, what's this obsession? He's already shown he doesn't need all that, he's pretty mobile considering his size and that is in my opinion due to the fact he's not overloading his already huge body with tons of muscles, let him be Wembanyama and not a Giannis ripoff. People saying Chet is better, and proves it with OKC ... No disrespect to Chet, but he's got a team that help him shine, Wemby doesn't unfortunately, and he can't carry it alone, however, do you see what he's already doing after 32 games? People hating on Wemby after 2-3 ankle "soreness" ... man he's 19, already playing at the highest of levels and having back to back games; what would you expect? He's huge, and giving it his all during every match ... let him be, let him grow, let him experience the ups and downs, its all part of the learning process. Most of the game he is conserving energy and not doing much at all. That's why they have the worst record in the league. In the long run I think Chet Holmgren will have a better career, he plays hard all game and is by far the best rookie so far. Victor has his moments but then he's on the bench forever trying to get his energy up to come back in or he's on the floor doing nothing. These super tall guys usually don't pan out because of how demanding the sport is, compared to limitations of human anatomy. Does anyone know if it's better for a pro NBA player who is that tall to bulk up or stay slender, or even skinny like he is now? I can see reasons why having more muscle might be good to reduce injuries and reasons why it might be bad for ligaments, tendons, etc. He weighs only 210lbs, which is probably what allows him to be so agile. I'm only 6 foot and I weigh the same or a little more than he does. Even if bulking up would sacrifice some agility, it would be worth it if it enables the longest career possible. This holds true for most any NBA player, but especially a guy who can so easily dominate inside. It's misleading to judge his skills by highlights..anyone will seem like a world beater if we only show their best plays. The fact is, that he shouldn't be trying to play the game as if he's 6'3". Study guys like Wilt and Kareem. Coach should fine him if he dribbles the ball more than three times on a play, or takes a shot from more than 12 feet away. Except that Sampson was stronger and way more coordinated and athletic than this kid. But injuries did him in and the grind up playing under the rim which he didn't like. He preferred taking three's and dribbling like a guard. Look him up. He was supposed to become the greatest player ever. So much so that Houston refused to trade him for the number 2 pick the year Olajuwon and Jordan came out. They took Olajuwon with the 1st pick and could have taken Jordan with the second had they traded Sampson. Think about that for a second. Olajuwon and Jordan all those years together. He basically has the moves of a 6'6" small forward -- it's not not like he has any special skills the league hasn't seen, he's just tall. Would he be NBA caliber if he were 6'6"? No, but his height gives him unicorn status. Let's say he gets 60% of his points because of his height. His best position is probably shooting guard, if that makes any sense. I'm not sure he'll ever become an Embiid, Jokic, Giannis or LeBron (able to score at will and dominate a game) but he'll be able to drop 30 points now and again, and be a defensive wall.
