That's an odd turn of a phrase, "believe" and "do not believe" in the context of those committed to objective research and science. I always understood belief and non-belief to be expressions of attaching oneself to religion or the rejection thereof. Is their new found theory about the origin of the universe based on faith? And another thing, the AI automated voice here stated that a vast majority of physicists today do not believe that the Big Bang was the absolute start of the universe. Very nice, but consensus does not rule science nor does it indicate truth. And the fact is that science has made several abrupt 180° turns in what it claimed to be true. I would point out that in the early 1900s it was BELIEVED by a vast majority of astronomers that Mars was rung with canals that were obviously made by Martians, intelligent, sentient beings that made astounding works on the planet that were designed to transport water from the poles to the moisture-starved tropical latitudes. Well, that belief was slowly overturned over time. Truth is that it wasn’t until the 1960s that NASA FINALLY admitted that there were no canals on Mars, and that their BELIEF in canals and Martians who supposedly made them were the result of faulty lenses in the telescopes of early 20th Century optics. So there’s a good chance that over time this new theory about the origin of the universe will be replaced by another more cogent theory. After all, that’s the way science operates. The Universe always existed in one form or another. Interchangeable energy and matter have always existed and have evolved into the forms of energy and matter we are now aware of. They could even continue to evolve throughout the expanding, yet finite, Universe, which is contained in infinite space. Indeed there may even be many more evolving universes within that infinite space. Infinite space does not bend and infinite time is independent of infinite space, yet they are linked - hence gravity is a force as conceived by Newton. If the inflation theory of space is true, then what di space inflate into? It could surely only have inflated int space. So, unless space ridiculously inflates into itself, that theory cannot hold.
