We humans started getting separated from other humans and then we developed new languages and today if we meet, we are hating each other. In science, a theory is a well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts. Intelligent design on the other hand is an example of the everyday use of the word “theory”, as it has no proof. It’s visually engaging and packed with fossil evidence, genetic insights, and migration stories. What I appreciated most was how the documentary framed our species not just as survivors, but as product of countless adaptations — moving out of Africa, innovating tools, navigating climate shifts. That said, the documentary sometimes presents its narrative as if the path to modern humans was inevitable. The “great march” of evolution is compelling, but in reality the fossil record shows many dead ends, multiple species coexisting, and a lot of uncertainty. A stronger emphasis on the “what we don’t know” would make the story more accurate and less deterministic. Another area for deeper reflection: the role of culture, symbolism, and inter-species interaction. Genetics show that early humans interbred with Neanderthals and others — the documentary mentions this but could explore what that means for our idea of “pure” human lineage. Overall, this film is a powerful introduction to where we came from. It invites awe and curiosity. But the next step is to ask: how does knowing our origins change how we see ourselves today — our identity, our shared humanity, and our responsibilities? Reply @AncientApeFuture 3 weeks ago Wow, what a spectacular and incredibly detailed video! 🤯🔬 The way Naked Science presents the entire 4 billion years of human evolutionary history, from the simplest single cell to the emergence of Homo sapiens, is truly comprehensive and captivating. 👑 I was particularly impressed with the small but insightful details you included, such as the gradual disappearance of our wisdom teeth due to cooking, or the reason our hiccups are a remnant of our aquatic ancestors. Connecting personal traits to grand evolutionary milestones like this makes the history feel so much more relatable. The quality of the visuals and the graphics recreating our ancestors (from Ichthyostega to Homo Erectus) are stunning and easy to understand. This is a perfectly condensed history of evolution course! Thank you so much for the immense effort invested in this amazing content! Please keep producing these massive, knowledge-packed topics! The ancient builders built in rhythm likely synchronizing labor, ritual, and focus in quiet or acoustically managed environments. They weren’t deploying lost superpowers. Like u can’t make ppl from sand or whatever the Hell the Bible says but I’m not even sure I believe in god but seeing how crazy life is I almost think it’s entirely possible that something like a child made the kick ass dinosaur toys then got older and wanted something more complex and now here we are. But I find it so hard to believe what choices we make in this life, we shall burn and be tortured in constant pain for all time. For the very simple crime of thinking for ourselves. I’ve been told by many Christian’s that because I heard of Jesus and have some questions that for just being curious about life that I deserve to be condemned to an eternity of torture and dismemberment for all of time! But I’m also told he loves me!? That right there since I was a child was like wtf! Are u crazy ppl talking Bout how can someone love u and just for u wondering and having ur own thoughts ur condemned to hell. For eternity! Not for your life cycle but for all time! For ever and ever you will burn and hurt forever! What crime can even compare with that! How does any rational person believe that but yet god loves you is just pure insanity I was born and smart enough to question like u all were too. The main difference is fear you all don’t beilve it to be true and if there is a God I think he’d put u in hell for believing only cause ur so Scared that’s a true crime to believe in something so blindly without question because you’re so scared that’s what religion sadly is. Don’t get me wrong it does great things. But religion has done so much more war and crime and rape and murder than good . One example is Christopher Columbus and when I was in school we had plays for him and he was a ruthless demonic person doing everything to spread Christianity! And he didn’t believe it himself he just learned he had power to do whatever he pleased by saying it was in the name of god ! If there is a god he had never spoken to man 1 Reply @davidoverstreet6900 4 days ago (edited) The first two humans male and female, were born of a superior, long extinct, form of lemur, 992,000 years ago, in the southern peninsula of modern day India. This was a genetically pre-programmed, superior, chromosome mutation. After breaking away from their colony, their descendants formed the Neanderthal races. 500,000 years ago, the colored races, all twins, male and female, were born of the same Neanderthal family, in the same general region as the original human family. Again, a genetically pre-programmed superior mutation, completely natural theologic evolutionary reality. Three of these colored races are extinct, including Cro-Magnon, the annihilators of the Neanderthal races, and three still remain. Nowadays, all of mankind are a blend of two or three human races, the inhabitants of India, naturally, being the most genetically mixed group. It never has. Yet many people stop questioning when they hear: “Science says.” “Studies show.” “Experts agree.” Today, social media trains people to believe authority — not truth. People watch a video, hear words like science or evolution, and accept it as fact without understanding it. Many videos are made just to get views, gain subscribers, and make money, not to teach truth. Not knowing the ultimate “why” isn’t ignorance. Pretending we do — is. 1 Reply 2 replies @johngellard1187 3 months ago So,what will the human look like in the future? Will there be changes to the body?I find it hard to understand.DNA changes, physical changes? What triggers them? 0:17 it wind the clock backwards and the story of how we got to be us is a puzzle 0:23 that defies all logic through nearly 4 billion years of evolutionary twists and turns 0:32 disaster strike Predators threaten to wipe us 0:37 out from rodent to reptile we Face Extinction at every 0:44 turn from the land into the water fighting to survive every step of the 0:54 way from fish to worm back to the very first Spark of life 1:01 to a single simple cell this is the most extraordinary 1:08 improbable story ever told the story of mankind 1:17 [Music] 1:25 Rising 4 billion years ago a ball of rock and dust spins in the Frozen vacuum 1:31 of 1:37 space this isn't Mars or 1:46 Venus this hell is 1:52 Earth this seething lifeless mass of molten lava will become home to nearly 9 1:57 million living species 2:09 but generating life from this will take a chain of events that defies the laws of 2:16 probability there are many theories nobody knows exactly how or where life 2:23 began but it couldn't happen without 2:28 water experts believe asteroids or comets 2:35 delivered it 2:42 here the water is churning with chemicals and organic 2:53 compounds lightning strikes the chemical suit at the right place and the right 2:59 time billions of volts of electricity trigger a chain of improbable 3:06 coincidences the chemicals atoms join up in a precise sequence creating a bundle 3:13 of genetic material these fragile genes don't stand 3:19 a chance in this extreme [Music] environment but luck strikes again a 3:27 blob of oily material engulfes s SLE chain to create the first ever 3:35 cell now the genes send out messages chemical 3:41 instructions and 3.5 billion years ago they do something 3:47 extraordinary they copy themselves and the cell to create a perfect 3:53 clone this is the very first living thing every human every animal every bug 4:02 every plant can trace its Origins to this single 4:08 cell the genes tell each cell to reproduce guaranteeing their survival as 4:13 they pass from one generation to the next for 2 billion years the only living 4:20 things are simple single cells but a random accident changes 4:25 everything two cells merge their gen 4:31 combined the merge cell clones itself its Offspring contains genes from not 4:37 one but two cells two parents we call this accident 4:44 sex sex introduces 4:49 [Music] variation occasionally things go wrong 4:57 as the cells reproduce genes get deleted duplicated these cells are 5:04 mutants mutations pile up differences increase until the cells become so 5:10 different they're separate species the Tree of Life branches out into billions 5:15 of species but only one will lead to 5:22 us mutating and diversifying spreading out through the oceans getting bigger 5:29 more complex until our ancestor is a 3-in long water 5:38 worm This Is Us 550 million years 5:49 ago mutations create distinct male and female Sexes we produce more offspring passing 5:56 on more genes Mars and Venus Boy Meets Girl it all 6:05 starts here but finding a partner is almost 6:12 impossible when every living thing is 6:19 blind in this sea of Darkness the ability to see will give us a critical 6:27 Advantage Nature's most perfect Innovation begins to take shape a 6:32 handful of skin cells mutate now we can tell dark from light 6:38 find more prey Dodge more Predators we live longer and produce more offspring 6:46 soon creatures with light sensitive cells dominate the population over countless Generations 6:54 more mutations refine the cells this is natural selection in 6:59 action the process that allows every living thing to adapt to the world and that 7:05 gives our ancestor [Music] 7:22 eyes we can see and everything we can see is descended from that first single 7:28 cell 7:33 but we need to make sense of what we're seeing behind our eyes a tiny collection 7:40 of nerve cells cluster together they're no bigger than a pin head one day this will be Nature's most 7:48 complex and mysterious organ 521 million years ago this is the 7:55 very first brain with we are a fish-like creature called Milo 8:03 conia our brain can make simple decisions process basic 8:09 [Music] information but we can't outwit or 8:16 outrun this anoma larus the great white of the 8:23 ancient oceans our odds of Extinction are far 8:28 higher than than 8:38 survival of all the species that have ever lived 99% of them are 8:50 extinct but a lucky role of the genetic dice helps Milo toughen 8:58 up 9:09 your jaws your teeth they exist because over 400 million years ago we Face the 9:16 wrath of a primeval monster jaws and teeth mean more food 9:21 and a bigger stronger body until 375 million years ago we're a 9:29 foot long armored 9:44 fish we look Invincible but we're 9:56 not now the choice is simp simple get out of his way or 10:08 [Music] 10:13 die we're safe in the shallow water or are we the water's stagnant there's not 10:21 enough oxygen starved of oxygen cells shut 10:26 down toxic carbon dioxide side saturates the blood we can't go 10:32 back we can't stay here there's only one place left for us to 10:47 go it takes over 3 billion years for our ancestor to evolve from a single cell to 10:54 a foot long armored fish now now our future looks 11:02 bleak but natural selection throws us a 11:08 Lifeline over millions of years thousands of generations our body adapts 11:13 until we do something no fish has done before breathe 11:25 air the air travels into a new organ a 11:31 lung take a breath and remember it's because a monster fish chased our 11:37 ancestor into the stagnant water forcing them to breathe 11:44 air we're in ichio stega we can breathe air or water 11:50 closing off our windpipe to switch between lungs and gills today our gills 11:55 are gone but the mechanism remains and sometimes it spasms giving us the 12:06 hiccups 365 million years ago we stick our head out of the 12:16 water there's a swamp behind us Paradise ahead the choice is simple but the 12:24 consequences are immense we pull ourselves out of the 12:31 water and change the course of 12:40 history this is the moment we leave the water for a new life on 12:46 land but all this food comes at a 12:57 price the fierce Sun dries out our 13:03 skin the hard terrain tears at our soft 13:09 feet iioa is a fish out of 13:15 water we dodged Extinction in a stagnant swamp only to slam straight into another 13:22 deadly [Music] 13:27 environment countless creatures perish but natural selection helps our 13:33 ancestor [Music] adapt thicker skin protects us from the 13:42 [Music] Sun and tough claws that will one day 13:48 become our fingernails help us move across the rough 13:53 terrain until we're cineria we've we've adapted to life on 14:00 land but our eggs haven't they need a tough shell to stop them drying out in the 14:08 sun the problem is males can't fertilize an egg through a tough shell but they 14:14 can fertilize it before the shell forms inside the female's 14:20 body sex as we know it starts 14:26 here the result is a masterpiece of Evolution an egg in a tough shell with 14:32 all the nutrients the embryo needs sealed 14:40 inside sex is the best way to increase genetic variety and keep our species 14:46 [Music] alive thanks to sex 340 million years 14:54 ago cineria becomes the first of our ancestors to live in entirely on 15:03 land it's a new world different from anything we've experienced up to now we 15:09 breathe air support our own weight and wrestle with an onslaught of new smells 15:16 sounds sights bombarded with information our 15:23 brains evolve we're smart and we need to be 15:31 from that first creature to set foot on land millions of species have 15:37 evolved more competitors mean less food to go 15:49 round a mutation gives us bigger more powerful jaw muscles it's a critical 15:55 Advantage we can eat more food faster 16:03 and it [Music] 16:11 shows we're varanops a slab of pure meat eating 16:22 power this little creature is a protorosaurus once a competitor 16:29 now he's 16:39 pre with Veron Ops for an ancestor our success seems 16:45 [Music] 16:50 certain but our story is a roller coaster ride and there's a big dip 16:57 coming 17:11 250 million years ago thousands of miles away in Siberia the Earth tears itself 17:21 apart a giant plume of magma surges up from deep inside the planet molten rock 17:28 oozes through cracks in the Earth's crust covering an area the size of the United States under a layer a th000 ft 17:37 deep and it continues for half a million 17:42 years trillions of tons of noxious carbon dioxide tra the sun's heat inside 17:48 the atmosphere temp temperatures soar to 17:53 over 100° plants the plant eaters and event eventually the meat eaters 18:00 perish 95% of all species die only a tiny handful hang 18:09 on among them us and another species 18:15 that will one day become the dinosaurs as the fight for survival 18:22 winds down the battle for Supremacy begins 18:33 30 million years since volcanic eruptions wiped out 95% of all living 18:44 things when the eruption struck we look like a large 18:50 lizard now we're a cat-sized creature covered in fur called 18:57 tinon imagine you've survived the apocalypse 19:02 and today is the day it's finally safe to venture out of 19:07 hiding you discover you're not 19:13 alone the last thing you want to see is a 19:22 dinosaur a 5T tall herrerasaurus 19:28 she evolved from one of the small reptiles that survived the mass extinction her ancestors adapted faster 19:36 than ours putting the dinosaurs ahead in the game and leaving us playing 19:42 [Music] catchup this one's fast strong and 19:51 [Music] 19:57 hungry 20:16 we're staring down the barrel of an evolutionary gun Our Only Hope natural 20:27 selection over millions of years we get smaller so 20:33 we're harder to catch we become nocturnal making us harder to 20:40 see we're cold and scared tiny muscles around the base of 20:45 each hair contract making our fur stand on end trapping air as insulation that's 20:52 why today when we're cold or startled we get goosebumps 21:05 our senses sharpened so we can see hear and smell a dinosaur before a dinosaur 21:12 sees 21:21 us inside our brain a new structure evolves the 21:26 neocortex the of complex thought that allows us to analyze a situation and 21:33 respond it will one day give us the power to imagine create and 21:41 communicate 66 million years ago we're badon a 2-in long shrew likee creature 21:49 living on our wits in the ancient forests of Montana Humanity's future depends on 21:55 badon Sharp senses and supercharged brain if these fail we 22:02 may never 22:24 [Applause] exist 22:34 the dinosaurs may be the best thing that ever happened to 22:40 us thanks to them we have powerful senses and Brilliant 22:45 brains without them we could still be laying 22:53 eggs to protect our Offspring from Hungry dinosaurs we evolved to give 22:58 birth to live young instead of leaving them to fend 23:05 for themselves we nurture them with milk sweat glands evolve to become 23:13 mamory glands it's a major milestone in our 23:19 journey from cell to human the birth of a new kind of animal one that will Branch out into 23:26 more than 4,000 species from the smallest mouse to the largest 23:31 whale to us the mammals have 23:39 arrived the dinosaurs help shape who we 23:45 are but we lost the battle for 23:55 Supremacy the dinosaurs rain for over 165 million 24:00 years nothing can stop them or so it 24:18 seems Montana 65 million years ago an asteroid 24:24 strikes 1,800 mil away off Mexico's Yucatan 24:36 Peninsula a small rat-like mammal is about to face the fight of his life lose 24:43 and humans may never 24:48 exist pulverized Rock and dust engulf the entire 24:56 planet 25:05 [Music] 25:16 the only way out is to 25:26 dig smoke and Ash from the fires block out 25:31 the sun temperatures plummet vegetation 25:38 dies the local disaster becomes a global catastrophe for the 25:44 dinosaurs it's a disaster they're big creatures with big appetites and now 25:52 that's a big problem 26:00 as the Mighty Fall the small rise to the top bugs Tough Enough To Survive the 26:09 worst catastrophe gorge on the dead and 26:14 decaying and they make the perfect snack next time you're about to squash a 26:21 bug remember that we wouldn't be here without 26:26 them 64 million years ago our buge eating ancestor is purgatorius just 26:33 under 6 in long this little creature and the rest of his mammal family are the unlikely inheritors of the dinosaurs 26:41 Crown mammals become the dominant animals on 26:47 land they spread out across the newly formed 26:55 continents our future rests on their tiny 27:01 shoulders From the Ashes of Destruction new life begins to 27:10 sprout 60 million years ago fruit ripens on the 27:16 [Music] trees packed full of nutrients the more 27:22 fruit we eat the longer we live we leave Solid ground for new life in the 27:36 trees a new world Demands a new body we've come a long way from that 27:43 first single cell now at last we're beginning to glimpse a family 27:49 [Music] resemblance we're Alti at laus one of the first members of a new group of 27:56 mammals the 28:01 [Music] 28:07 primates by 56 million years ago we've adapted to our 28:14 [Music] 28:23 world but that world is about to change again 28:32 over 10 million years extreme temperature shifts ravage the 28:41 forests forests get smaller food gets harder to 28:47 reach natural selection intervenes 28:54 again our tail shrinks back to the base face of the spine where it stays as the 29:01 coxics a reminder of our days spent leaping through the 29:10 trees instead of Leaping we stretch our arms grow long and 29:22 flexible changing temperatures changed our ancestors and us 29:28 forever but the planet's not finished yet deep underground the African and 29:35 Arabian plates pull apart the land between them drops to form the East 29:41 African Rift Valley along its Edge a 3 and 1 12,000 29:47 mm long mountain chain Rises [Music] up rains from the Indian Ocean once 29:54 watered all of Africa now the mountains blocked their 30:01 path the trees get even further apart the food harder to 30:08 reach we're starving desperate 4.4 million years ago the will 30:16 to survive that's driven us from a single cell in the ocean to a complex 30:21 primate in the forests of Africa is about to make us do something extraordinary 30:28 something no primate has ever done 30:42 before after 3 billion years of evolution we hit an evolutionary dead 30:50 end we're arpus ramidus 4 ft tall at 80 lb with a brain 30:57 the size of an orange our dense rainforest home has 31:04 become patchy 31:10 Forest we can stand on branches Move Along them but to reach more food we need to 31:19 let [Music] 31:26 go [Music] 31:38 [Music] 4.4 million years ago these are our first steps on two 31:49 legs walking takes us to the food and leaves our hands free to pick it it 31:55 catches on fast arpus is smart enough to copy and 32:02 learn walking gets passed from parent to child over the next 1.2 million years 32:09 our body evolves so that we can walk further and [Music] 32:18 faster finding shelter a mate and food gets easier but childbirth gets harder 32:27 with a narrower pelvis giving birth to a fully developed infant becomes 32:34 impossible babies have to come out early when their heads are smaller and they're barely 32:40 developed that's why we are one of the few species to spend years caring for our Offspring protecting them feeding 32:47 them and keeping them out of [Music] 32:54 trouble 3.2 million years ago we're an 32:59 australopith our brain is the size of a grapefruit and we walk on two legs all the 33:14 [Music] 33:25 time 33:36 we got lucky the lion has already eaten this 33:42 time we can't outrun our Predators the only way to survive is to outthink them 33:50 the smarter we get the longer we live natural selection promotes the 33:55 mutations that improve impr our brain power like weaker jaw 34:02 muscles released from the muscles vice likee grip the brain is free to grow it 34:08 doubles in 34:15 size 2.3 million years ago this is homo 34:21 habis also known as handyman walking on two legs with a big 34:28 brain we're the first of an entirely new type of creature we're the first 34:35 man we bigger stronger and hungrier than ever 34:41 before there's food out there but it's more likely to eat us before we can eat 34:53 it we're a scavenger working alone we eat whatever we can 35:25 find The Edge is razor 35:36 sharp we have just made the very first 35:43 tool armed with this we will change the 35:55 world East Africa 2.3 million years ago after 36:02 over 3 billion years of evolution we take our fate into our own hands we are the first species to make 36:11 tools in this hostile environment we need every Advantage we can get we must 36:17 fight off Predators starvation and our own 36:25 relatives [Applause] 36:37 [Music] 36:48 there's no meat left it looks like we're going hungry 36:55 again but there's bone marrow locked inside packed with 37:01 energy the tool is the key to a whole new way of life we'll use it to grow 37:06 crops build cities and travel into space 37:11 our thumbs become stronger hold a cup pick up a pen we can do this because 2 37:19 million years ago tool use changed our bodies and the course of 37:24 evolution we've pieced together our ancestors story from their bones but from the vastness of Africa 37:32 all the bones of our early human ancestors ever found would fit into the back of a 37:38 pickup less than one bone in a billion becomes a fossil factor in the chances 37:44 of finding those bones across millions of square miles and it's clear most of what has lived has been 37:52 lost our family tree is a giant puzzle with most of the pieces 38:00 missing but 1.8 million years ago a piece falls into place and we find a new 38:06 species on the scene Homo erectus until this point we were 38:13 scavengers but now we're 38:20 hunters and we've learned how to work with other members of our 38:25 species 38:33 [Music] The Hunt is 38:40 on the Impala can run fast but we can run further low shoulders and long torsos 38:48 stabilize us powerful buttock muscles contract expand and push us 38:55 forwards [Music] 39:01 sweat stops us from 39:12 overheating covered in fur the Impala is 39:25 exhausted 39:37 fire it Sparks an idea that will make our ancestors 39:55 human War warmth light safety is Within 40:07 Reach Nature's power is in our 40:12 [Music] 40:24 hands protected from the Terrors of the dark our extended family gather 40:31 round by working together these earliest families get food more often so we live 40:40 longer this is the advantage of family life the reason most of us live as we do 40:55 today meat is too precious to 41:03 [Music] waste and cooked meat is easier to 41:12 chew the powerful MERS used to chew tough raw food Retreat back into the 41:17 gums where they'll stay as our wisdom teeth 35% of us never even grow them a 41:25 sign that they may be evolving out of existence with less energy spent on 41:30 chewing our ancestors have energy to spare the brain increases to the size of 41:36 a softball 50% larger than before the invention of cooking erectus is the cleverest most 41:44 Cooperative ancestor to date but with several adult males in an extended 41:50 family rivalries are inevitable communicate and will live 42:05 longer natural selection kicks in our tongue changes shape and moves down our 42:11 throat carrying the linic with it allowing us to form different shapes in our mouths making different sounds and 42:20 ultimately words speech is our greatest tool it's 42:26 the last piece of the puzzle that turns our ancestors into 42:32 US 200,000 years ago after a 3.3 billion year battle for survival we've 42:41 arrived we are Homo sapiens meaning wise 42:46 men pound for pound we have the largest brain of any creature on earth armed 42:53 with tools speech and Superior intelligence we spread out across every 42:58 continent we evolve and adapt to new environments new challenges until we 43:04 become the Undisputed masters of the world
