Pinned by Foobas Sports @FoobasSports 1 day ago Is Wilt Chamberlain's 1966-67 season the greatest in NBA history? 15 Reply 6 replies @RobertMcGimpsey 19 hours ago This is the greatest series of game stats and film of Wilt, I've ever seen. He averaged a triple double in the playoffs!!! Wow!! 5 Reply @saheedjb 1 day ago 1967 was Wilt’s best season! He adapted and changed up his game because he had better teammates & he lead his team to win the championship. Goat level offense, goat level defense, goat level rebounding, goat level passing. Both in the regular season & playoffs. Fun fact about this season : Wilt Chamberlain became the first player in NBA history to shoot over 54% from the field, by shooting 68% 7 Reply @giorgiodechambre6798 1 day ago This is one of the best videos you’ve ever done on Wilt Chamberlain! The clips you included were fantastic, and I had never heard that champagne story before it was such a powerful insight into Wilt’s winning mindset, putting the champagne away until the series was finished. The fact that Wilt led the league in passing that year reminds me so much of Nikola Jokic's style of play. It’s incredible to see how versatile and ahead of his time Wilt was. Thank you so much for creating this amazing video! 9 Reply Foobas Sports · 2 replies @leestamm3187 18 hours ago Great upload. I saw Wilt in action many times, with all the teams he played for. There has never been another player like him. The game has changed over the years, not for the better in my view, but Wilt was a great all around athlete and would be a dominant player in any era. 4 Reply Foobas Sports · 4 replies @anvayelbenephraim3087 1 day ago This has to be the greatest season all-time! No one has mentioned all the minutes he played and never fouled out! He almost averaged a quadruple double counting blocks! Great highlights, thanks for sharing! 5 Reply Foobas Sports · 1 reply @AarianArora-n4i 1 day ago THE GOAT HAS UPLOADED AGAIN!!! 4 Reply Foobas Sports · 1 reply @vernonleewarren280 4 hours ago Wilt Chamberlain was unreal! I love this dude. What a beast! 1 Reply @mohsinkamal2468 1 day ago (edited) I had no idea that there was a time when Wilt Chamberlain combined like 5 different kinds of styles of play, had the shot blocking of Hakeem, the rebounding of Rodman, the physicality of Shaq, the passing ability of Jokic, and the athleticism of of Shawn Kemp, we may have to rethink who the goat might be because Chamberlain was the most dominant and possibly complete player of his era who could do everything except for shooting maybe, which he didnt really need, if he also had a natural mid-range shooting ability he would be averaging like 60 points a game😂 8 Reply @morrisparrish76 1 day ago The argument goes on to this day as to the greatest team of all time between this Philly team & the 1972 lakers! (One ended bostons 8 straight titles & the other won 33 straight games! Haters note: WNC was on both teams!) 4 Reply @BulletBill-yb3ti 1 day ago I have 67 Wilt as the best NBA year ever. He lead the league and the championship team in too many things simultaneously for me to think otherwise. This is was also the only time a healthy for the series Bill Russell team lost a series. Wilt had it all that year, elite scoring, elite rebounding, elite assisting, elite defense, and his team knocked off the dynasty Celtics with him outplaying his main foe by a lot in that series. 4 Reply @Nbaknowlegde 1 day ago As someone that’s way to young to have witnessed I have to see that wilt never fails to impress me 4 Reply @PJCG06 1 day ago –> Is Wilt Chamberlain's 1966-67 season the greatest in NBA history? A resounding yes. Wilt’s performance in the 1966-67 season remains unparalleled, and it’s not even close. His stats in the regular season alone are mind-blowing: REGULAR SEASON MVP STATS: – 45.5 MPG | 24.1 PPG | 24.2 RPG | 7.8 APG | 68% FG% | 44% FT% But it's in the playoffs where Wilt's greatness truly shone. His dominance across every statistical category during the Eastern Division Semifinals against the Cincinnati Royals, the Eastern Division Finals against the Boston Celtics, and the NBA Finals against the San Francisco Warriors is nothing short of astonishing: WILT VS CINCINNATI ROYALS EASTERN DIVISION SEMIFINALS: – 48.0 MPG | 28.0 PPG | 26.5 RPG | 11.0 APG | 10.2 BPG | 62% FG% | 36% FT% WILT VS BOSTON CELTICS EASTERN DIVISION FINALS: – 47.8 MPG | 21.6 PPG | 32.0 RPG | 10.0 APG | 9.4 BPG | 56% FG% | 52% FT% WILT VS SAN FRANCISCO WARRIORS NBA FINALS: – 47.8 MPG | 17.6 PPG | 28.5 RPG | 6.8 APG | 10.5 BPG | 56% FG% | 31% FT% Wilt's statistics throughout the 1967 NBA Playoffs cement his legacy: – 47.9 MPG | 27.1 PPG | 29.1 RPG | 9.0 APG | 9.9 BPG | 58% FG% | 39% FT% –> 5 DOUBLE-DOUBLES –> 6 TRIPLE-DOUBLES –> 4 QUADRUPLE-DOUBLES No player has come close to achieving such comprehensive dominance. Wilt’s prowess transcended mere scoring; his rebounding, playmaking, and defensive capabilities were unmatched. What makes Wilt’s 1966-67 season even more remarkable is the context in which these stats were recorded. The era's grueling pace, the physicality of the game, and the absence of modern training and medical support make Wilt's achievements even more significant. He played under the most challenging conditions with the hardest rules, toughest hoops, and least advanced equipment, yet his numbers were extraordinary. Wilt's 1966-67 season wasn't just about individual brilliance; it was about leading his team to the NBA Championship, ending the Boston Celtics’ dynasty. Defeating a roster packed with Hall of Famers and multiple All-Stars like Bill Russell, John Havlicek, and Sam Jones was no small feat. The Celtics had an 8-0 Finals streak, in which Wilt's team ended with a dominant performance. This level of competition only underscores Wilt's unparalleled impact. The variety in his gameplay is what sets Wilt apart from anyone else. Combining the defensive prowess of Hakeem Olajuwon, the rebounding tenacity of Dennis Rodman, the physical dominance of Shaquille O’Neal, the passing finesse of Nikola Jokić, and the sheer athleticism of Shawn Kemp, Wilt was a hybrid of the greatest qualities in basketball history. He was a true all-rounder who could control every aspect of the game. Moreover, Wilt’s 1966-67 team wasn’t just great—they were historically significant. They were one of the top winning teams ever and had an astounding 33-game winning streak that no other team in that era could match. Even the mighty Celtics never achieved such consistency. Considering Wilt’s minute averages and the fact that he never fouled out, it is hard to argue against his 1966-67 season being the greatest ever. His near quadruple-double average, his overwhelming presence in both offense and defense and his pivotal role in ending the Celtics' reign all contribute to a season that stands alone in NBA history. So, let’s give credit where it's due. @FoobasSports, kudos for an excellent video highlighting one of the most extraordinary seasons by an individual player. Wilt Chamberlain's 1966-67 season deserves every accolade and recognition as the greatest in NBA history. 3 Reply Foobas Sports · 1 reply @dusty975 1 day ago If you could pick any player in their prime to start a team, you would be very foolish not to pick Wilt Chamberlain. 15 Reply Foobas Sports · 3 replies @muskcoder6367 1 day ago (edited) Wilt, unquestionably🎉t🎉t🎉t🎉t🎉 4 Reply @jadams6419 1 day ago The seasons wilt had stacked teams they were the greatest teams of all time 6 Reply Foobas Sports · 1 reply @louisdawkins664 1 day ago Only those of us who Are old enough And are True, basketball fans Know about that 1967 Philadelphia 76er Team team and what they accomplish. Best NBA season in the history of the game. Not even close! 6 Reply @TheOGHoopByTheBook 17 hours ago WHAT A VIDEO 2 Reply Foobas Sports · 1 reply @stever1791 1 day ago He is the GOAT 2 Reply @flagcoco69 1 day ago I've watched a lot of your videos, this one is my favorite. It adds something to the ubiquitous and sometimes annoying GOAT conversation: it seems, in that conversation, GREATNESS is way too narrowly defined by stats and rings. There are so many other aspects to that word. Leadership. Legacy. Influence. And in the case of this video, adaptability. Coach Hannum got it through his head that if he ever wanted to be known for something other than a prolific but selfish scorer, he'd have to change his game. It's one thing to commend Bill Russell for giving up scoring and doing the defense and rebounding so the rest of the Celtics could flourish, he did that from Day One. Chamberlain was a veteran and known for scoring. I'm sure people all along asked him, Why can't you be more like Russ? I'm sure it bugged the hell out of him. But once he got it in his head that winning was more fulfilling than padding his scoring count, he was on another level. For the same reasons we criticize LeBron James for staying around and padding his stats, the same criticism was levied on Chamberlain when he was an unstoppable scoring machine with no rings for all the effort. Chamberlain in 66-67 might be the greatest season any NBA player ever had, because he adapted and overcame. 3 Reply @Baselinehangtime8 1 day ago Wilt the goat in 1967 24,24,12,8 off 68% reg season 22,29,12,9 off 56% playoffs 18,29,7,11 off 56% finals No player comes close to these 25 plus rebound quadruple double averages across offense defense and high FG% in addition to such rebounding and done in the hardest pace to keep up with ever that requires the most skill through fatigue and athleticism to keep up with such ever and with the hardest rules to play the game ever and hardest assist counting rules ever and hardest hoops to make goals on ever which sway side to side and hardest shoes to move around in ever and he did these goat numbed in 1967 while black population became the vast majority and as playoff rounds increased from 2-3 rounds and while having just Cunningham wali Jones Chet Walker hal Greer and Luke Jackson by his side had defeated the goat dynasty 8-0 streak and against bill, hondo, Jones, Howell, sigfried, Don Nelson, kc jones, Tom sanders and this was a 10 man squad vs Wilts 8 man squad for that series oscar Robertson Jerry Lucas flyynn robinson, Connie dierking, and a 9 man squad vs Wilts 8 man squad that series And Rick Barry, Nate thrumond, Jim king, Jeff Mullins, Tom mechery, Fred hetzel, and Al attles and this was a 12 man squad vs Wilts 9 man squad that finals series Wilt the clear cut goat and Wilt 1967 the clear cut greatest season ever 9 Reply @HumanOptimization 1 day ago It'd be nice if Joel could take a page from the Goat's book and apply it for this season/next. 2 Reply @choward5430 1 day ago Series Average vs Cincinnati Royals 48 MINUTES PER GAME; 28 POINTS PER GAME; 26.5 REBOUNDS PER GAME 11.0 ASSISTS PER GAME. 10.2 BLOCKS PER GAME 62% FG PER GAME You do realize if LeBron James did this, an unprecedented amount of sports journalists would be passed out on national tv! 2 Reply @rickguerrero2282 1 day ago Wilt is the GOAT……..it is not MJ or Kobe or LeBron. I thought the NBA didn't keep those stats in the 60s. Or did a team statistician collect those stats? Regardless, it just makes his 1967 season just that much greater.
