Peak 0:28 many considered him the greatest scorer 0:30 of all time so you can already imagine 0:32 how incredible James Harden's Prime was 0:35 in reality James was never supposed to 0:38 play in the NBA in fact it's a miracle 0:41 he's even alive his mother suffered 0:44 multiple miscarriages and after James 0:47 was finally born she nicknamed him lucky 0:50 Harden because he was truly fortunate 0:53 James Harden grew up in Compton during 0:55 the drug wars of the 0:57 1990s to escape the gang violence James 1:00 turned to 1:01 basketball however having a respiratory 1:04 condition like asthma often made him the 1:06 slowest and least conditioned player on 1:09 the court because of his incredible 1:11 story today we'll dive into the life and 1:15 career of this player and explore why 1:17 his journey is about much more than 1:19 Awards and stats as you heard at the 1:22 beginning of this video Harden grew up 1:25 in Compton California during the 1:27 infamous drug wars of the 1990s 1:30 the streets were filled with gang 1:32 violence and to escape that environment 1:34 James found refuge in basketball but 1:38 even then he faced significant 1:40 challenges he had asthma and with an 1:43 unhealthy diet full of fast food he was 1:46 slow and unathletic anyone could have 1:49 thought the NBA was beyond his reach 1:52 despite his physical challenges and 1:54 growing up in a tough environment Harden 1:56 had something others didn't an 1:59 insatiable passion for basketball he 2:02 loved the game and dedicated himself to 2:04 perfecting his ball handling and 2:06 shooting for him it wasn't just about 2:09 winning it was about survival and Rising 2:12 above his 2:13 circumstances over time his perseverance 2:16 paid off Harden grew to be 6' 6 in tall 2:20 an ideal height for a shooting guard in 2:22 the NBA his game blossomed during his 2:26 senior year of high school and he became 2:28 a McDonald's allame 2:30 an honor reserved for the top high 2:32 school basketball Stars later at Arizona 2:36 State he solidified himself as an 2:39 exceptional talent in his sophomore year 2:42 he averaged 20 points six rebounds and 2:45 four assists per game he was named 2:48 conference Player of the Year and a 2:50 first team 2:51 All-American however when he entered the 2:54 2009 NBA draft doubts about his 2:57 potential still lingered many Scouts 3:00 thought he was chubby and that his 3:02 athletic ability was limited Harden 3:05 however surprised everyone at the NBA 3:08 draft combine where he showcased 3:10 remarkable agility and explosiveness OKC 3:14 selected him with the third overall pick 3:17 joining a young and talented team 3:18 alongside Kevin Durant Russell Westbrook 3:21 and Serge Ibaka this is where his Legend 3:24 began to take shape unlike most top 3:27 draft picks Harden didn't have to wait 3:30 long to experience success OKC won 50 3:34 games during his rookie season and in 3:36 his second year the Thunder reached the 3:38 Conference Finals an unprecedented 3:41 achievement for such a young team during 3:44 his third season Harden became a problem 3:47 for the entire NBA coming off the bench 3:50 he averaged 17 points four rebounds and 3:54 four assists dominating his way to 3:56 winning the Sixth Man of the Year award 3:59 it was was at this time that comparisons 4:01 to Manu job began to surface another 4:04 left-handed creative and explosive 4:06 shooting guard who also thrived as a 4:09 sixth man but Fame came at a cost in the 4:13 2012 NBA finals the Thunder faced Lebron 4:17 james' Miami Heat on the biggest stage 4:20 Harden disappeared his shots wouldn't 4:23 fall and his defense was ineffective the 4:26 media labeled him a failure in clutch 4:28 moments however that view was overly 4:31 simplistic Harden was still very young 4:34 and playing on a team with two ball 4:36 dominant Stars additionally coach Scott 4:39 Brooks struggled to fully integrate KD 4:42 Westbrook and Harden into an efficient 4:45 offensive system after that season 4:47 everyone believed OKC was destined to 4:50 become a dynasty but the team owner 4:52 didn't want to pay the luxury tax 4:55 leading them to offer harden a lower 4:57 contract extension they proposed osed 5:00 $55 million instead of the $60 million 5:03 Harden was asking for just $5 million 5:07 separated Harden from staying with the 5:09 team as a result general manager Sam 5:13 presty was forced to trade him sending 5:15 him to the Houston Rockets in what 5:17 became one of the most controversial 5:19 financial decisions in NBA history many 5:22 doubted Harden's ability to lead a team 5:25 thinking he was only suited to being a 5:27 sixth man but it only took one game to 5:30 silence everyone in his debut with the 5:33 Rockets the Beards scored 37 points 5:36 dished out 12 assists grabbed six 5:38 rebounds and recorded four steals in a 5:42 10596 victory against the Pistons two 5:45 days later he dropped 45 points against 5:48 the Hawks those 82 points in his first 5:51 two games with Houston were more than 5:53 any player had ever scored in their 5:55 first two games with a new team in NBA 5:58 history from there Harden became an 6:01 immediate Allstar averaging 26 points 6:05 six rebounds and five assists however 6:09 the journey wasn't always smooth in 2014 6:13 Houston added Dwight Howard a superstar 6:16 who in theory should have complimented 6:18 Harden but their playing Styles didn't 6:21 mesh Harden wanted to push the pace and 6:24 score in transition while Dwight felt he 6:26 deserved more touches in the post Al Al 6:29 though the pick and roll was effective 6:31 the relationship between the two stars 6:34 eventually became dysfunctional during 6:36 this time Harden continued refining his 6:39 game his Euro Step became slow and 6:42 methodical turning into one of the most 6:44 effective moves in the NBA his ability 6:48 to draw fowls also became a 6:50 revolutionary aspect of his style 6:52 sparking debate about whether he was a 6:55 genius or simply playing dirty but 6:58 before we continue with this epic story 7:01 let's talk about 7:03 hellofresh after the 2016 season the 7:06 Rockets made a bold move by hiring Mike 7:09 deanton as their new head coach deanton 7:12 had a very clear philosophy 7:14 three-pointers are everything with the 7:16 support of the analytics team and 7:18 general manager Daryl Mor the Rockets 7:21 started shooting more threes than any 7:23 other team in league history Harden 7:25 thrived in this fast-paced offense 7:28 deanton turned his him into the primary 7:30 playmaker and built the system entirely 7:33 around him Harden's stats exploded he 7:36 recorded 50 point triple doubles and 7:38 achieved 22 triple doubles during the 7:41 regular season becoming the first player 7:43 in NBA history to finish a season with 7:46 at least 2,000 points 900 assists and 7:49 600 rebounds in 2018 Harden won his 7:54 first scoring title and led the Rockets 7:56 to the Western Conference finals against 7:59 the for itable Golden State Warriors 8:01 with a 3-2 lead in the series an injury 8:04 to Chris Paul shifted the momentum in 8:07 game seven the Rockets missed a record 8:10 27 consecutive three-pointers and lost 8:13 the Series it was a devastating blow but 8:16 also a testament to Harden's impact in 8:18 revolutionizing the game of 8:21 basketball but Harden didn't stop there 8:24 during the 2019 season he scored 30 or 8:27 more points in 32 consecu Ive games his 8:31 isolation plays and step back 8:33 three-pointer redefined how defenses 8:36 guarded him over 60% of his shots were 8:39 three-pointers and his ability to shoot 8:41 from anywhere on the court made him 8:44 Unstoppable Harden's isolation plays 8:47 weren't selfish his assist numbers 8:49 proved it when he spotted a defensive 8:52 lapse Harden quickly passed the ball to 8:54 his teammates whether it was a big man 8:57 like Clint capella or Corner shooters 8:59 like PJ Tucker and while Harden never 9:02 won a championship his legacy is 9:05 undeniable his style of play redefined 9:08 modern basketball he forced defenses to 9:11 adapt and officials to rethink how fouls 9:14 were called though his approach sparked 9:16 controversy and wasn't beloved by all 9:19 fans few players in NBA history have had 9:22 such a profound impact on the game James 9:25 Harden a basketball genius a 9:28 revolutionary and undoubtedly one of the 9:31 greatest scores the sport has ever seen 9:34 now that you've watched the video what 9:36 do you think I still win 4 Reply @EnochByrd 3 years ago Subscribed! 5 Reply @wallydeen 3 years ago man he had that turnaround bank shot...never knew.. 9 Reply @WallTrapMedia 8 months ago Arguably the most physically dominant specimen in NBA history thus far. LeBron was the size of a grizzly rear and can run like a cheetah with the jumping ability of a kangaroo, Jordan was built like a Jaquar and can run like a cheetah and jump like a flea, but Wilt was built like an Elephant but could run like a gazelle with the jumping ability of a kangaroo. There's truly no specimen that came quite as close. It would be like if Dwight Howard was 7'1 or if Shaq stayed in shape. And no NBA player had Wilt's endurance, he played from 275 pounds to 300 but averaged like 44 minutes per game for his CAREER in canvas sneaker. In today's game Philly Wilt would average like 23 boards and 5 blocks! LOL 2 Reply @Hatedvarii 9 months ago (edited) People claim that wilt was a dunk fest like shaq but never reallly know this man invented the post fade away and dominated using the finger roll 3 Reply @Whitegorillaboy 1 year ago Wilt and Bo Jackson tied as greatest athletes in history. Either would have destroyed the world decathlon record. 8 Reply @basketballcourse 3 years ago Let’s be honest, Wilt had a 200 Ovr… 10 Reply @chicolopez8722 2 years ago Excellent highlight footage!.greatest basketball player of all time.poor jordan,Jordan,, LeBron gay ass James.
