What is the Intervention Testing Program - and should you trust Them?
The Intervention Testing Program is a collaboration between 3 research labs that run lab experiments on longevity in mice in different locations.
They have strengths and weaknesses.
The ITP has 4 major strengths that give them “gold standard” acclaim in longevity research. And 4 major weaknesses that nobody is speaking about.
Both are relevant for making conclusions about longevity habits we can follow right now.

In 2022, Dr. Brad Stanfield posted a video in which he explained why he stopped taking Fisetin and Quercetin, two of the most popular supplements in our longevity community.
This comes in total contradiction to the expert opinion of other longevity researchers, such as Dr David Sinclair, Dr.
Paul Robbins , and Dr James Kirkland.
Who’s right? Who’s wrong?
I watched the video, and after researching about it, and finding pretty shocking things, I had to post my reply.
And today, we’ll do an investigation into Brad Stanfield’s conclusion. We’ll discover:
- What are senescent cells and why they matter to your longevity?
- What is the number one reason Brad stopped taking fisetin and quercetin?
Then, I’ll tell you what I really think about Dr Brad Standfield and his channel.

I have approximately over 60 supplements and drugs including fisetin, quercetin, nmn, resveratrol and spermidine. What i found according to my experience is that nmn has strong results. Fisetin is also effective in increasing oxygen tolerance throughout the body. In fact all of the five longevity supplements do have a positive effects. Remember i m not referring to any lab results, i am all about what i felt or experienced on my own.

Thanks Rimon, I was very disappointed and confused over Brad Stansfield’s decission on Fisetin and Quercetin although on balance decided to continue my own regime. So hearing your take on it I agree strongly that accurate data interpretation is vital on which we can all base our personal approach to supplementation

Brad is too rigid and swayed by every latest study, no matter what it says. He will be changing his mind when the next study says the exact opposite. The fact is that fisetin is proven many times over to be effective.

oooops. My jaws dropped... You are doing great work. Thank you!!! It is this kind of work that makes your channel so trustworthy. You are a genius :))
...so they claim to made a study in 2018, Stanfield talks about it in 2021 \ 2022, and in 2023 it is still not published ???
Serious academic research works differently (I am trained as a natural scientist, in biology). In a world where publishing is everything, not to publish for 5y means that the persons doing the study long left the organization, and the studies were not at all clear. Also, they refer to a Fisetin hydrogen sulfide study... Interesting part, this hydrogen sulfide. Probably it was a study about provoked senescence.
....and Mr. Stanfield is just a clown. His way of thinking, as revealed in this affair regarding the relation of fisetin and quercetin, has structural deficits and he should not feel entitled to give any recommendation, not even express his opinion on YT. That was not just a small mis-take. He has absolutely no clue about biochemistry.

Sorry Brad, as a practicing physician, does what most busy clinical physicians do. Doesn’t read papers, at best they read the abstracts and perhaps the bottom line of the conclusion. These are the good Doctors! I had a local GP who confessed, he never read “articles” he was a qualified doctor! To my point Brad is a master at the shortcut conclusion, hence his frequent change of “personal” practice. He seems to have upped his game, reacting to a single statement on a paper yet to be written. My real point is that all study papers are written to be published, in doing so they need to satisfy the peer review, to do so they often need to “massage” the abstract and conclusions to pass peer review, sometimes to a point where they don’t match there own study data. Of course this assumes that a study like this wasn’t set up to fail by design. Usual tricks: inappropriate and low P study population, under dosing, short duration. Inappropriate markers and peculiar statistical categories. Perhaps the best is “adjusted for cofounders” without identifying what the cofounders were or how they were weighted.
Final note Dr Kirkland is perhaps the most experienced researcher into senolytics we have, while that doesn’t make him correct, his informed understanding of senolytic research is discounted at your peril.

Dr. Stanfield is very cautious about spending for supplements that have doubtful effect. Quercetin and fisetin may require large doses that would be waste and reduce our budget for the more important ones.

Great analysis. Good brain, good heart. I can't wait for your videos. I was following Brad Stanfield, but his logic didn't seem sound to me and I feel he has an agenda, maybe pro-pharma? I don't know, but it seems that way. I still like Sinclair. His studies are sound and he shares what he takes. When I added fisetin to my liposomal NMN concoction, there was a huge increase in energy, and I had to reduce the dose of fisetin. Definitely feel a difference with it. Thanks for your work.

No doubt that data interpretation is important along with scientific replicability. All data should be submitted to independent examination(there is far too little of this!). Apart from the effects of Fisetin & Quercetin, IMO the best way to get rid of senescent cells is to do 24 hr, fasts, which I do every weekend. This promotes effective autophagy & as a 79 year old, it is most likely I have a plethora of senescent cells. Maybe autophagy using the body's own processes is more effective than adding exogenous molecules through supplementation, I have lists of foods that supply Fisetin & Quercetin & I try to eat these as much as possible as well. Congrats on your thorough analysis of the science. As for Stanfield, I find him to be somewhat impulsive in drawing conclusions.

Brad should look into the research from Life Extension who has introduced compounds that allows for body to actually absorb them.
Most if not all of these compounds aren't absorbed as capsules. You would likely need to get expensive shots to make them work and even then, the absorption issues are still there.

Quercetin was recommended by my oncologist for a bronchial cough/cold I couldn't get rid of due to having cancer and a weakened immune system but, after taking it for about 10 days it I was completely healed. Nowadays, I take it once I feel a cold coming on and it kicks it in the bud, never having to deal with ever feeling sick.

What’s the ideal frequency for taking these? I’ve seen some reports that taking these infrequently was a better approach. A couple times per week for Quercetin and as little as one or two per month for Fisetin. I can’t remember where I saw this but Rimon if not for you I’d be taking too much Resveratrol daily until I saw your video so I thought you might have insight into quercetin and fisetin frequency.

Quercetin has other benefits aside acting as senolytic. It tackles nad+ depletion from a different angle of that taken by NR or NMN by affecting cd38 levels and act as attenuator. So that alone is a good reason to take this supplement. The claim is that in high dosage it also could operate as a senolytic and was shown to act as sirt6 activator.

I think Brad also states he’s around 30 or 35 so it doesn’t make sense for him to take them personally since senescent cells do not build up until older. Age matters.

Another great video, Rimon! I also like Brad Stanfield quite a bit, in fact I added creatine and collagen peptides to my supplement routine based on his videos. However, like anyone, he's not perfect and sometimes gets it wrong. I find his videos about why he stopped taking things less convincing than his other ones which are usually really good. Like his resveratrol video which you replied to earlier.
Here with fisetin and quercetin is another example of how he incorrectly interprets data. And his reasoning for why he stopped taking quercetin is particularly bad - it's a different molecule than fisetin to begin with. But setting its senolytic properties aside, it is an iron chelater, which is critical because excess iron hurts your health and longevity, is a zinc transporter, which is important because zinc needs to cross into cells to help your immune system, and it is a sirt6 modulator, meaning it stimulates or represses sirt6 activity depending on the circumstances. So deciding whether to take quercetin based on how its senolytic properties compare to fisetin seems ill reasoned.
And fisetin has good things going for it besides its ability to eradicate senescent cells. To do that you need to to the high dose pulse protocol that Dr. Kirkland is testing. But low dose may induce cells to clean themselves by eliminating old or damaged organelles or other proteins and reduce senescent cell toxins in the system. So you can't even judge fisetin on its ability to reduce senescent cells alone, you have to consider everything.
Regardless of Stanfield's videos, I take both fisetin (liposomal form) and quercetin (phytosome). An unexpected result of the fisetin is my skin softening and becoming smoother. Anecdotal of course, but I was very surprised this happened after adding fisetin to my supplements. And when I looked into it out of curiosity it turns out there is some evidence for it improving skin health. Go figure!
To sum up, I think Brad Stanfield is a big asset to the longevity community, especially given he's on the side of allowing NMN to be sold even though he doesn't use it, but like all of us, you can't just take his word on anything uncritically without validating his reasoning and conclusions.

Since it is likely that senolytic cells start accumulating above the age of 50, it is not a big risk to younger people to delay the taking of anti-senolytics compounds until further evidence.
Also, there are researchers that hypothesize a delicate balance between senolytic cells and cancer cells that is not yet understood.

Dr Stansfields stand on quercetin was probably based on that research (Kirkland, perhaps) showed that fisetin was more effective than quercetin.
So, if fisetin doesn't work, the weaker quercetin wouldn't work either.
This is just my guess.
That quercetin works better together with that cancer pharmaceutical might indicate that senolytics work better in combinations. Such as quercetin and fisetin together, perhaps.

Dr. Kirkland's observations in the video regarding the lack of senescent cell markers leads me to wonder:
1.How are the senescent cells themselves detected...and characterized? Does one detection methodology fit all senescent cells?
2.Are there degrees of senescence?
3.Can senescent cells definitely NOT be resuscitated? If not, why not?
4.Can senescent cells be typed by origin, i.e., used as organ early warning indicators in their own right?
5. Are there common and predictable epigenetic markers for senescent cells, or are they all unhappy in their own way?
Declaring senescent cells themselves the problem seems analogous to a mechanic discovering metal in an oil pan and installing a magnet in the oil filter as a "solution." Some bearing is in trouble.

Good video but a bit of a tease as to why the study was flawed. I suspect bioavaialability has much to do with it.Curcumin is another good senolytic, and that as huge absorbtion issues. Fisetin, though is not just a senolytic, which is where Stansfield was unwise - the length and breadth of the studies on fisetin are remarkable.

Rimon:
In your experience is it normal for a study (being run by ITP?) in 2018 still NOT being published in 2023?
Is it due to the study only being started in 2018 and not being completed until recently? If so, how could the 'experts' on fisetin / quercetin risk their credibility by commenting on an incomplete study before it is published?
If the target of fisetin / quercetin is removing/recycling senescent cells (in all their varieties), how effective are each of the various types of fasting (8/16, OMAD, 3 day water fast, 7 day water fast) when compared with the two supplements noted?

We've always known from the advice of the elderly that there was an effect of eating an apple with(quercetin) or without the skin, so the bottom line in my opinion is don't listen to studies that try to distract you from reality ! It is healthier to eat a whole apple than to peel it. So that effect cannot be removed by a study that has not been published!

19:47 you circled 2 areas of difference on your diagram but the larger circle does not indicate a difference. Remember the single bond that binds the 6 carbon ring to the rest of the molecule is swivel, so the two representations are equivalent. The only real difference in the two molecules is the extra OH shown on the lower left.

The human body has around 100 trillion cells each consisting of 100 trillion atoms. I think you'll need powerful quantum computers and super-intelligent AI to piece together the puzzle. The problem with these antiaging protocols is that they are based on grossly incomplete understanding of the human body, and it takes only one false assumption to derail the effort or even bring more harm than good.

I like Brad Stanfield and he does very good work analyzing the various studies out there - better than most by far. Lots of people jump on the longevity hypewagon and ride it as far as they can citing mice data and seriously flawed human studies. So, my question would be where is the long term, human studies (properly conducted) that show that either fisetin or quercetin provide senolytic benefits? I don't think there are any and that's what Brad says most often. If there isn't solid science around it he's not going to recommend it. He almost always says that it's your choice and if it works for you do it as long as there are no harmful or long term side effects. Mice data is only "interesting" at best. There are an almost uncountable number of tests on mice with various interventions that yielded no result in humans. There's still questions about the bioavailability of fisetin and quercetin in the first place when taken orally.
So, let's not misquote Brad here. He says this is why HE stopped taking it. He didn't say you should stop taking it nor did he say it's ineffective. What he did say is that from what he sees of the science, there just isn't enough evidence yet to say it's truly effective. I tend to agree and want to limit my supplement stack to those things that we know are effective instead of making the pharma and supplement companies rich. Also, let's be honest and build in a little "bias interpretation" into our opinions. Brad has nothing to gain from recommending or discouraging the use of certain supplements and drugs. Sinclair and the rest of them often do since they have built a business around selling them.
Show me some unequivocal proof and science that this stuff works and I'm all in. Until then, it remains "interesting" to me.

I am confused about the comment about losing our only arsenal of defense against senescent cell buildup. Not only are there alternatives, there are free alternatives. Mankind has been fasting for thousands of years. Although not popular with the masses, we have know since the early part of the 20th century about clinical proof of caloric restriction with optimal nutrition. Among the many approaches to finding longevity, caloric restriction (CR) has received a lot of attention in the last few years. The first evidence indicating the benefits of CR date back to the 1930s in studies conducted by Clive McKay, an American biochemist and gerontologist. Most people myself included would love nothing more than to be able to pills as a first line defense against aging.

I wonder why Dr Stanfield would want to take such supplements now, when he is so young. Maybe better to take these things when he is older and the evidence for their effectiveness is more affirmitive. There are other compounds, such as NMN that Dr Stanfield doesn't personally take, but Dr Sinclair does. And I find Dr Stanfield's nay-saying around such compounds, the perfect antidote to the possibility of a blind obedience that could be displayed by some consumers, who could be influenced by Dr Sinclair's superstar status. As a potential consumer myself, monitoring the identity of the supplements that both of the Doctor's agree have undeniable, (evidence based), efficacy, will go some way for me making the right choices and not wasting so much money. Dr Stanfield is a General Practitioner in his country of New Zealand and presumably has to satisfy the governing body of his own profession there and presumably his own conscience, that he doesn't make poor recommendations to his own patients in particular and his You Tube audience in general. Dr Sinclair on the other hand is outside that sphere, in the world of academic research. Longevity researchers like himself, can turn around in the long-run and say, 'hey, evidence doesn't support our premises or early research after all', or vice versa, because this field of Longevity research is still so young. Personally, I am often left 'scratching my head' at the disparity of opinions between clinicians or researchers when the Science is supposed to be the same between all of them. I appreciate your views, but how can you quote and trust David Sinclair knowing his controversial recommendation of Resveratrol for humans? Also, Sinclair was instrumental in the FDA banning NMN in order to make a profit. Hopefully the FDA allows NMN to be sold again. In order for me to assess your credibility can you please provide your recommendation regarding resveratrol for humans and your opinion on the FDA ban on NMN.

Hi Rimon, it’s important to note that no clinical guideline suggests using Quercetin or Fisetin. We don’t have any robust human data showing benefit for either molecules, plus the Interventions Testing Program found NO BENEFIT for mice who took Fisetin.
I’d much prefer to focus on diet, exercise, sleep, and the occasional supplement that has proven benefits such as creatine.

Brad Stanfield has a lot more videos that have lot of almost believable misinformation and sensationalism and debate based on no data, bad data, or just professional jealousy against other researches. So refreshing to see you take him out on this piece of sensational misinformation on bad data politely.

Well, point is that, until that study is published, we can just flip a coin. We can decide to go for Fisetin and Quercetin or not. Point is, we do not know, as for now, if they work. We need to wait. The only thing we know is that they are safe to take, and that they MIGHT work. So, based on that, everybody can take their decision. The question that arises is: why hasn't the study been published yet? They found problems or mistakes in the study, or maybe the pharmaceutical companies that sell Fisetin are sort fighting it? It would be nice to go deep into this.

Quercetin oral bioavailability is only 1%. Haha 99% goes out. If given via IV, the half life is less than 10 minutes. Having said that if you take it in food as it’s natural source or as the glycoside then it is more stable hence more likely to provide an effect. The secondary metabolites that are generated can persist in the body for 12 hours, it is possible that they might have a promising effect.

What Dr Brad is saying is simple: there's no real evidence for fisetin (or if anything the ITP is evidence against its effectiveness), so no point in taking it. I remember seeing some research measuring the presumed potency of the various senolytics and yes, quercetin was a lot less potent than fisetin and others.
So Dr. Brad is behaving like a proper scientist: "no evidence, no intake". Others, like that clown Sinclair, will hold on to poor studies on worms from two decades ago, and yet take a risky stance: "I want to believe [fisetin / resveratrol/ snake oil] works based on some petry dish work or magic wand, and will take load on it for giggles - and tell everybody that I'm doing it".
The problem with Sinclair is not just that he wants to become rich[er] with nmn and that has always had a financial agenda: it's that his scientific approach to the field is either lacking or absolute trash, edging on irresponsible (like suggesting the antiageing benefits of growth hormone and other reckless claims that can be harmful to health).
Another simple point: Brad invites dialogue and conflicting views of existing research... whereas Sinclair blocks scientists that criticise him from his Twitter. Tells you all.
I like that your videos are shorter, Rimon, and that you incorporate more of the real players: those doing the actual research or those analysing the soundness of the studies with a critical mindset and eye: in the fight against aging, we may be hurting ourselves (like loading on resveratrol) on the back of hope or poor research.

Our Dear Messiah,
The repetitive phrase "our longevity community" seems desperate for belonging. How are you defining your strange idea "our longevity community"?
Are you using this phrase like "nuestra madre de Guadalupe" or "nuestra virgen de discotecas"?
We can throw words together and see how they sound but the addition of "nuestra communidad de longevidad" to our lexicon (yes, "our lexicon" IS a thing) reveals how religious longevity science actually is.
At the root of religion is money.
"The authorities" are keeping an eye on you. Your approach to science is suspicious.
And may your mother make certain that your dress appropriately when walking in public or in videos so that you are not caught by "the authorities" being outside of the community.
Our Naughty Messiahs get spanked ... they get spanked reeeal baaad by "the authorities."

First Off All, I appreciate your hard work & Rational investigation.
Especially for people like us who have ill people at home & waiting for our help, this longevity news is important.
Every investigation is valuable of course but don't know the scientists people who made this research.
So don't know what makes them talk like this. Are they 7/24 working for #Life span no idea.
Most of the time in this real world
"Money Talks"
So have to wait for more research.
But when It comes to our ( at least I accept him like that) valuable Scientist Dr.Sinclair, I always believed in his studies from day one. He shared his Lab Team
and young students working with him. Waiting for their eye investment results 👏
I follow him.
Let's say if Dr Sinclair says he is wrong one day, still he has credits on me.
Always ready to forgive him😔
But nice to listen to all these efforts.
I appreciate.
But lately, I read in an article quercetin tablets may work like Alloprinell tablets for People who have High Uric Acid.
How true no idea.
My husband's tiny arteries are blocked in his kidneys.
The doctors said they can't open it. They are so tiny.
I'm trying not to send him to Dialysis😌
So far so good, touch wood.
Especially after taking NMN 250 mg every day & Resveratrol 250 mg every other day, "see I've listened to you on this subject"🤩
I give him twice a week quercetin.
But let's hear from you more.
Also don't forget our ages. 65 + we are We aren't young any more.
Dr Brad is young like you young so
Results will be different in your cases.
I follow DrSinclairs father's protocol.😊
He is 82 this year.
Wish him Many Happy Returns👏🌹🧿
Thank you for this logical video .
God Bless your wife & you🙏🙏🧿🧿
Wishing her a speedy recovery 🙏🌺❤️

If you follow David Sinclair, you know he takes 1 gram of resveratrol every day. This is a contradiction to what he discovered in his studies, and what the rest of longevity studies on resveratrol show.
When I discovered that in Sinclair's study, low resveratrol had the best longevity results, the first thing I did - was trying to get Dr. David Sinclair’s response. Did he answer to me? You’re about to find out.
In the last part of this resveratrol series, we will try to answer:
Why does Dr David Sinclair take 1 gram even though in his studies lower dose worker better for longevity?
I’ve gone on many David Sinclair Interviews, and collected for you five segments where Dr. Sinclair touches this critical issue: thy he takes so much resveratrol?
And we’ll also conclude this 5-episode resveratrol investigation.

Also, remember DS has cancer in his family, and IIRC on at least one video he said he has inherited a gene for lung cancer so if he knows he has a higher risk of cancer and he also knows high resveratrol has a cancer inhibiting effect then that would probably influence his personal resveratrol dose.

Great, very insightful series. I have reduced the dosage of resveratrol to what you are recommending. Off topic: are you by any chance planing to look into OPC, as it could have a similar effects like resveratrol, but there are also studies which show, that it could be a senolytic.

I started back to take higher dose of resveratrol. This is because I think the effect is mostly on the senescent cells, which you want to neutralize/catabolize. It basically mimic an intermediate fasting of the three to four days… this is likely why, opening mice on high dose, they found their organs were still young… or, at least, I hope

A combo of NMN and Res boosts NAD. He believes this is the key to vascular health (referenced in a Harvard video). The higher amount you have, the better outcome for ischemic stroke. He knows the dose is safe. He knows the limitations of his studies. It’s the most studied compound of its type but there are still questions.

It is such a complicated compound! Besides the longevity factors that favor low dose, there are so many other effects. Increased nitric oxide production which has wide ranging cardio benefits and activation of the AMPK pathway are 2 primary ones. These are other benefits that may not move the needle on lifespan, but may affect healthspan.

Sinclair believes that resveratrol and NMN work synergistically to extend lifespan. This is the reason why he probably does not care about taking a gram. In Sinclair's analogy, resveratrol is like the accelerator pedal of a car. It helps to activate the sirtuin genes, which then use NMN as fuel to do their work.

The main problem of resveratrol is the poor solubility and high clearance. Sinclair know that very well. Talk to any Harvard and they will tell you how they feel about him. Also, it is not synergistic it is additive that’s the other problem. Synergy would be if they are on the same target increasing residence time of the compound on the protein. This is a pathway that he is looking at not a single protein.

Maybe DS is making an educated guess that if resveratrol seems to have a positive effect on chronic or metabolic issues at high doses, logically it would extend life of those affected by those diseases which seem to be at epidemic levels in humans. But that should also be observed in mice too. If a mouse is fed a terrible diet or made to have cancer, can high dose reseveratrol extend their life vs low dose ?

SInclair is a doctor, he developed it. If we don't know what is going on, especially if he knew that low portion is for longevity and high is for killing damaged cells then maybe it's about promoting Resveratrol and money 🙂 That's my conspiracy theory. Sinclair is to clever to be not aware of it. Besides he knows how to promote 'his' products. He knows market, how it works. If I had no interest in this I'd never mention how much I take, because it depends on so many aspects ! How he can do it being a professor ? Imagine that ! Awareness is strong attitude of what people do, because sometimes even we know something we treat it as a something normal. He shares information like suggestions/promotion of something (what many Y.Tubers do saying the opposite that it's is not an advice ofc.).
Also looking at 4 influencers (are not doctors or dietician or any other kind even, Rimon, you are curious, you dig a lot to check information and that is very useful to discover many unusual things related) related to DNA brand, they claim that they don't work for them. This is so weird. So, strange 'coincidence' 🙂. Their channels are so different and still so similar. They never mention each other 🙂 That shows only how YT influencers work 🙂Recently one of them started taking 2gr of NMN saying it's for fungus.
Many of them shows their stacks. These stacks are enormous ! I know one thing, this is anourmous amount of money as well around it. Be careful people.
Don't lose control about what you need, especially if you are thin and healthy thinking you will increase drastically your life. Look for natural alternatives of NAD and Resveratrol !

thank you, very good.
towards the end you say, low dose R. works in humans for longevity.
Mr Lustgarten, in his YT channel "conquer aging" which is about bio hacking aging, has an episode about R. ... He mentions by citing some papers, that R. is only extending the life of obese mice to normal, not above normal.
what do you think?
About "cycling"... I pretty much cycle everything, including aspects (micro + macro) in nutrition, types of sources, relative amounts, supplements, on a medium and on the shorter time scale.. I think, this keeps the adaptability of the metabolic system up.

I wouldn’t jump in the bandwagon , pay huge amounts of money for unproven drugs and potentially subject yourself to harm in the process. You need longitudinal studies to see how safe they are

Well clearly 1g is safe, Sinclair does it, and the superiority of low vs high dose is hardly statistically significant, in fact many studies show a steady improvement in hypoglycemic effects with higher doses. Since the blood sugar is king when it comes to longevity effect, I am sticking w Sinclair on dose

Thanks to your episode 2, I stopped taking high dose resveratrol shortly after I started and now take 100 mg every other day.
What do you think of this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fzl8F4WQfTs&list=PLR0gSPbvQL-INZaSArlXCcrq57L-rN1iE&index=52
I take L-Leucine midday with other longevity supplements not just resveratrol but NMN 250 mg, the recommended salvage pathway R-alpha lipoic acid, TMG and apigenin, AKG 1000 mg.
I'm thinking of buying the Sirtuin 6 activator. What is your opinion?
I take many other supplements at other times of the day.
For building muscle I take at night BCAA and HMB. My muscles have grown huge and strong despite doing no exercise. I'm on OMAD 6 hours on, 18 hours off, mostly keto but not all keto. Also I'm aware of resistant starch and refrigerate any and all of it. It seems to work and got the okay from my doctor. I'm 74 years old and feel like 30.

Power. Synergy. Collaboration. That’s how your body works.
Every food that you eat matters.
Every drink. Every exercise and every supplement. They all work together, as allies, forming a powerful team inside your body to make you healthier and live longer.
And some of them, are enemies, neutralizing one another, offsetting the benefit and wasting your money and efforts. We’ve seen that in the previous episode.
Therefore, to keep your body young and increase your health and longevity, you must use the power of synergy correctly.
The problem, though, synergies between foods, supplements, and habits are very rarely researched or even spoken.
And if you take a tiny teeny supplement called resveratrol, popularized by Dr David Sinclair, you’re taking one of the most synergetic supplements known to man.
Did you know that resveratrol interacts with other supplements that you take? With other foods that you eat?
This mysterious molecule targets different mechanisms depending on what you eat, drink, and which supplement you take with it.
What should you do? You’ll see the newest research on that.
today, In our investigation, you’ll discover how resveratrol interacts with olive oil, avocado, collagen, green tea, red wine,
And with supplements, such as NMN, NR, collagen, glycine, NAC, much more.
Let’s cover a critical topic that nobody else speaks about that will help you form the lifelong habits of longevity and good health, right now.

Thanks very much, Rimon. You're obviously very good at reading scientific papers to get useful information, I appreciate your time & effort.
Having viewed your earlier videos on resveratrol, I have for some time been taking 1gram on a Monday (cancer protective, I'm 55) then 100mg on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays and none on Wednesdays, Saturday or Sunday.
Now I'm considering high dosing for 3 days at the beginning of each month, then keeping to my earlier low dose regime for the rest of the month ??
Will re- watch this videro a couple of times more, there is a lot of information... ;-)
I hope your wife's health continues to improve.

Another excellent video! Very informative.
Synergy is something I’ve tried to implement for a long time. One way I do this is by identifying multiple molecules/supplements/foods that activate a given sirtuin, like for example sirtiun 1, and incorporate all of them into my diet and supplement regimen. I know that the studies on this are fairly sparse, but the ones I’ve seen that do look at synergy usually show a positive benefit. So I go with that. Among the ones you mention here I’ve used olive oil for many years, and I definitely take NMN, NR, and NAD+. I don’t drink tea though so I have a green tea extract supplement instead, and I’m very glad there is synergy between the catechins and resveratrol.
You mention you’ll be looking at quercetin in the future, might I also suggest curcumin? I know that these two have some degree of synergy, so it might be worth it to look at both.
There are some other synergistic pathways that I’ve been interested in lately. One I have mentioned before, nitric oxide. It seems like a critical support function for a lot of things that happen to promote longevity. It even seems to activate some longevity processes directly, hence why I’ve started eating foods high in natural nitrates (leaf vegetables and beets). Another that I’ve started taking an interest in is the gut microbiome, which also seems to be extremely critical for so much related to our health and longevity. Maybe you could look at probiotics in the future too?
One other thing that I’m a big fan of is liposomal delivery of molecules to increase bioavailability. Again, the research on this is fairly sparse but it seems to make a big difference in the positive effects of things like resveratrol and also quercetin and curcumin (phytosome delivery). Pretty much any supplement with low bioavailability I try to get a liposomal pill for, so at this point I have a lot of them.
Keep up the awesome work! Your videos are so interesting! There is a lot to cover, we’ll never figure out everything, but the journey is fun!
Best wishes to you and also in your wife’s recovery – glad she is improving! Keep us posted!

did not finish to listen this one completely yet (edit: meanwhile I did) but it is GREAT. I highly appreciate your emphasis on non-linearity and synergistic effects and your work for digging out those few papers. Thank you!
If all research would re-focus on a more multifactorial design the whole field would be much more advanced.

Very good presentation thank you kindly for the information.
Personally I eat one avocado a day and I usually drink about one shot glass of olive oil with it. I also drink green tea and I also drink this chicken bone broth it also has turmeric and ginger in it every day. Also I try to eat as many blueberries as I can when they’re in season and strawberries. I think now after watching your video it might be important to supplement with resveratrol . I also take a NAC supplement along with a few other supplements as well. Longevity is starting to move forward in a very good direction and I appreciate the information. Please keep up the good work! Thank you kindly!

I like your strategy. I think resveratrol will not work without balance with other antioxidants.
Nature loves balance!
There are hundreds of different herbs, fruits, vegetables. If not fresh, but in dried form.
The amount of each (dosage) is less important, then variety. Better to eat 10 mg each of hundreds antioxidants then 1000 mg of resveratrol.

Initially I was rather concerned by the heavily and almost obsessive criticism of the Dr Sinclairs use cases/dosage for resveratrol as there may have been a personal research case for his high dosage we simply do not know as he was not advocating people do this. However this video/lecture on synergy is really really good, well done it triangulates a pretty diverse roadmap of application that people can choose in multi faceted ways from supplemental to dietary habits. Definitely something to take note from. Thank you

Rimon. Can you please address something that I’ve never seen addressed by anyone else TO THE EXTENT OF PROVING IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. I’ve heard doctors claim that when you grind things into a FINE FLOUR (like wheat) you change the molecular structure of it. This seems like it would be pretty straight forward to determine but all I hear are the presumptions that it might be taking place when you grind things into fine powders or flours. Thanks—I love your brain ❤️🙏🏻

I saw in a paper somewhere that high dose Quercetin suppressed Sirt 6. It was in research where they were seeking compounds to activate Sirt 6. It may have been the scientist who discovered that Fucoidan was the most potent Sirt 6 activator. I can’t remember her name, but she is an advisor for donotage
I’m in a holding pattern with Quercetin at the moment, but I feel like I am missing out!

I am 68 years young:) exercise daily, eat a good diet, at a good weight (5’4”/120#) given the new evidence. I’m thinking that I may be taking too many supplements too frequently - daily bio - Fisetin, bio Quercetin, Resveretrol, Pomegranate, among others… would appreciate some thoughtful direction for the optimal daily protocol. Thank you! Rimon, how's your sws sleep when you start eating late? Mines trashed and improves when i do breakfast early.
I'm going to move resveratrol to lunch but what about olive oil? I like to put it in my morning greens/supplement drink.
How about taking grape seed extract with the resy? That's what ive been doing, no ecgc for me (terrified of the liver and prefer to save it for curcumin). Elderberry extract in place of the blueberry/blackberry and drink blackberry, elderflower, blueberry and lignon berry syrups in water all day.

A lot to "digest" here (lol). I'm taking most of what you talked about here, my latest blood tests would tend to support these benefits. My Md. said "keep doing what you're doing it seems to be working". If you're taking NMN you're likely taking TMG (trimethyl glicine). Is this not a source of glycine? I wondered about cycling low dose and high dose. I may try an occasional high dose.

What if we put 100mg resveratrol in 500mg capsule, and add perhaps c8 mct oil, or maybe olive oil. And then capsule it and take it maybe after big meal.

what i still dont understand is why ppl never mention olive leaf powder
its dirt cheap
here what chatgpt thinks about it:
Q: how much polyphenols in 5g olive leaf powder. how much polyphenols in the highest polyphenol olive oil 5ml
A: The amount of polyphenols in 5g of olive leaf powder can vary depending on several factors such as the type of olive tree, its growing conditions, harvesting time, and the method of processing. However, a study published in the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition reported that the total polyphenol content in olive leaf powder ranged from 90 to 144 mg/g of dry weight. Therefore, 5g of olive leaf powder may contain between 450 to 720 mg of polyphenols.
As for the amount of polyphenols in the highest polyphenol olive oil, it is difficult to provide a specific value as it can vary depending on the brand and the method of production. However, some studies have reported that the polyphenol content in extra virgin olive oil can range from 50 to 800 mg/kg. Assuming the highest value, 5ml of the highest polyphenol olive oil may contain up to 4 mg of polyphenols.
_____________________________
yea i know olive oil is also oleic acid, but just from a sheer polyphenol perspective its extremely obvious which supplement to take

Also synergy with low dose leucine and ginseng. Low dose leucine 1.1g is low enough to lower sirt activation threshold but not high enough to activate mTor. See Zemel et all human studies

At age 70 I started taking resveratrol 300 mg. 4 days a week (capsules) and 1 GM nmn daily ( capsules). My question - is 300 mg. Considered a low dose considering my age and capsules- thinking less absorption of resveratrol via capsules??

It seems like the data is not very solid (statistically ) for asserting low dose resveratrol being better for longevity. The more extreme stress response will slow cell division even more, more similar to caloric restriction it appears, from the data u showed I would'nt be as assertive on the superiority of low dose vs high dose

Resveratrol has poor solubility in olive oil. And for green tea why not just have matcha? That way you are injesting everything. What do you think about black elderberry for sirt6 activation?

Thank you for sharing this story. Honestly, it makes me so angry. As someone who has spent their career supporting those with rare and serious diseases and teaching them to be powerful patients strong advocates for their best healthcare, I applaud your proactive approach. So often I have seen patients trust doctors completely, without pushing hard and trusting their own experience and gut. Patient centered care is the gold standard, and that means doctors really listening and trusting patients and their caregivers as a critical part of the healthcare team. Doctor's need to have more humility...this will lead to better outcomes.

I think you pointed out, you have to advocate for those experiencing the healthcare system. Making such efforts they are often able to get the system to provide better care. I think Dr"s are willing to go the distance if people are highly motivated to be very involved in their treatment and recovery. Lucky you had good success and continue to follow it up. You are inspirational for your wife and those that follow your channel.

It is now been over three years since my stroke and I'm doing pretty well actually. I communicate pretty close to how I used to except that. I have to use adaptive equipment when it comes to putting stuff down on paper or on a screen. Other than that though I have almost everything else back. I'm actually able to do a little bit of poetry too something I used to be at least somewhat okay with doing.
I can writing again and am working to possibly do some other things that may help everybody.

Thanks for the video. All the best for your wife’s recovery.
I had a stroke at the age of 49. Had left arm weakness, and took 900 mg of aspirin straight away as I suspected that I was having a stroke. In retrospect the hospital said that this was not such a great idea as if I was having a stroke it could be due to a burst blood vessel as much as it could be due to a clot so the aspirin could have made it worse.
The hospital was really responsive in taking me in straight away and checking me over but sent me home after a CT and said they couldn’t find anything. I thought perhaps it was a pinched nerve in my brachial plexus perhaps as I had been working out the night before. Fortunately the hospital had organised an outpatients appointment for me to have an MRI 2 days later at which point they found a couple of clots on my right hemisphere. Yes I had had a stroke and by that stage I also had some left leg weakness. Ultimately I was found to have a PFO and had this closed up some months after the stroke. I hadn’t heard of a thrombectomy until your video tbh.
My recovery was actually pretty good and I didn’t really have any residual problems besides some nerve pain occasionally along my left hand side and a little left hip weakness.
That was a couple of years ago and now I am doing really well.
Anyway not really sure why I wanted to share all this, perhaps just some catharsis.
Wishing your wife the very best❤

I had a stroke 2 years ago, which left me paralyzed on my left side. I've made a full recover after lot of physical work. I recall our visit to the coffee shop in the wheelchair, so your story made me cry. My doctor told me about peptide injections in longevity clinics. It's a very interesting area of study. I used used ChatGPT-4 to research to topic - sharing:
Longevity research has found peptides to be a promising avenue in anti-aging treatments. Peptides are smaller units made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. They have a variety of roles in the body, such as acting as hormones, enzymes, or neurotransmitters. This is due to their ability to bind to and activate receptors on cells, allowing them to exert various effects. There are many types of peptides, each with its unique function. For instance, some peptides can increase collagen production, improving skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles, while others can boost the immune system or increase muscle mass1.
Peptides interact with two main types of receptors: G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and enzymes. GPCRs, found on cell surfaces, activate when a peptide binds to them, leading to changes in cell function. For instance, GPCRs can stimulate the production of enzymes, hormones, or proteins. When peptides bind to enzymes, they can increase or decrease the enzyme's activity, affecting processes like collagen production or cell growth1.
Unlike hormones, which are larger and can have systemic effects throughout the body, peptides are often localized to a specific area, affecting only nearby cells. This localization enables peptides to be designed for very specific effects in the body, making them useful in various treatments. Peptides can supplement hormones, for example, by increasing hormone levels in cases of deficiency or targeting specific receptors not affected by hormones1.
A variety of peptides have been studied for potential use in anti-aging treatments, including:
Growth hormone-releasing peptides (GHRPs), which stimulate growth hormone release from the pituitary gland, aiding in muscle growth, fat metabolism, and bone density improvement.
GHK-Cu, a copper peptide shown to stimulate collagen production, reduce wrinkles, and promote wound healing and tissue regeneration.
PKC Inhibitors, peptides that bind to Protein kinase C (PKC), an enzyme involved in cell proliferation and death, to help prevent cell death and promote cell proliferation.
BPC57, a peptide that reduces inflammation, stimulates wound healing, and promotes cell proliferation.
While there is still much to learn about peptides' potential use for anti-aging, the available evidence suggests they can be beneficial in reducing aging signs. The research indicates a hopeful future where peptides play a vital role in more effective, holistic, and safer anti-aging treatments.

Peptides I believe are 100% the way forward for medicine. It’s a huge growth area within research. I have been involved in peptides for 13 1/2 years and had my business U.K. Peptides for 11 years. Very difficult area due to legislation or even lack of it. We can’t promotors or talk about them to general public. But we have just agreed to work with a doctor who had now been given the permission to prescribe un-licensed medicines when no other suitable alternative is available. Good luck. Very good contents and knowledge.

Wishing your wife a full recovery. Thank goodness she had you in her corner to advocate for her when she needed it most. I'm grateful that we have the nhs, especially in an emergency, and I do believe the majority of the staff want to do their best for people. But the system is flawed. I've noticed that when using a free service, what you're offered is often what's within budget or convenient, rather than being told of the best treatment options. It's impossible to make an informed decision when they only give you half the facts, especially when time is of the essence. I've got my own laundry list of horror stories of family members who weren't listened to by the nhs, and who ended up with worsened conditions due to delays in treatment. Keep pushing for what you think is right and don't take no for an answer.

I had an Ischemic stroke at aged 38, effecting my left arm at the onset and effecting the dexterity of my left hand in the long run. Anyway, a few years later I heard of a supplement, referred to as an 'Adaptogen' by Russian researchers, namely Schisandra chinensis. I didn't try it to help manage the symptoms of the Stroke, but found within half an hour of administration of Sc, I experienced an improvement, or recovery to be more precise, in the dexterity and control of my left hand, by as much as 25% I think and this still happens today when I take it. Also as well as Sc, I have found the following supplements useful-CDP Choline ('Citicoline') and N-Phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester (Noopept).

Yeah, that is absolutely shit care. In the United States stroke possibility is an emergency and quality is measured in time to getting TPA or interventional angiography. Every one with any ounce of medical knowledge knows that a CT scan will not illuminate ischemic stroke. It will only show a hemorrhagicum stroke. Therefore, the proper course is to get an immediate MRI if the CT is negative. I don’t know what malpractice laws are like in England, however, they care that you got at the first hospital and first set of doctors was absolutely clear-cut malpractice.

Resveratrol. The mysterious molecule, popularized by doctor David Sinclair.
A controversial supplement that works differently in your body with different doses.
And now, shockingly, works differently in different circumstances, and in different times.
If you exercise regularly, did you know resveratrol can take away from you the benefits of your exercise? It happened to many in our longevity community.
How could a supplement keep your body young all the while sabotaging your exercise?
You’ll understand why most people take resveratrol at the wrong time. And what to do about it?
We’ll discover another shocking study showing resveratrol increases oxidation levels. That’s quite a mystery which we’ll investigate.
We’ll use David Sinclair's discoveries. And, to expose how this mysterious molecule works, we’ll travel the journey into antioxidants and their impact on your longevity. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and much more. Should you take them?
More today:
What’s the best time to take resveratrol during the day: Should you take it in the morning, like Dr David Sinclair, or in the evening?
What’s the WORST time to take resveratrol?
Should you take resveratrol every day?
Be ready for some serious myth-busting.
By the end of this investigation, you’ll have life-changing insights into how our DNA works, what exercise does to your DNA, where resveratrol fits here, and the perfect timing of resveratrol…
for a lifelong habit of longevity and health, as easy as popping a pill.

6/29/23... I had my mum taking NMN three months ago with Resvesatrol. Today, she was so excited to report that she haven't felt this good in a long time. BTW, she's 82 years old. She normally wakes up feeling tire and groggy after coffee and small breakfast. But today she felt fully awake and full of energy. She walked 1 mile to the local swimming pool and didn't feel tire at all. Walked back home and did some outdoor exercise. Some sunning and still felt good after all that. She said she felt like a younger version of herself. I was pleasantly surprised and happy. I couldn' believe what I was hearing! Was it the NMN and Res? Don' know for sure but I want to believe it. BTW, she takes NMN and Resversatrol around 9pm every nite before bed. I do the same. I noticed that taken before bed seem to work best. We started buying NMN from Probase Nutrition. It was good pure NMN. Now I switched to Do Not Age. I noticed that Do Not Age's NMN is more powdery in texture than Probase. Both have similar taste.

Excellent video. My wife (47) and I (51) have been taking Resveracel from Thorne daily in the morning. Overall fairly low dose of Resveratrol. We are very lean, do sports daily and I do intermitten fasting (16/8). Based on this we will wind down the daily use of Resveracal/Resveratrol. So likely take it from time to time on less healthy days (the cruise example you gave) and then in the evening only. We will keep it in mind for our older age to potentially increase then again, as for now our daily sports (cardio/strength alternation) is probably enough stress on our body/cells. So thanks for the video: makes our health routines hopefully even better AND it saves us money as well. 😊

Makes sense to me thank you Rimon. I've been taking it the wrong way - in the morning during interment fasting and then doing intense exercise early afternoon. Will change that after your explanation.

Thank you for this health information for everyone. In the past research was hidden, only available to very few. I have only taken three resveratrol capsules, a few days apart, each 400 mg. But I will start taking 100 mg. or 200 mg. Instead. I have gone through many different vitamins to find the correct combinations. Thank you and a gigantic thanks to Dr. Sinclair for permitting this knowledge to escape the hallowed halls of learning!

I alternated between 100mg of Pterstilbine and 50 mg of Reserveratol. I also do strength training and running. After watching this video i think it's best to take 50 mg of Reserveratol or Pterostilbine every other day or 3-4 times a week.I'll switch taking them post exercise(Not immediate) as well. Low dose anti-oxidants are good but don't ever want the good effects of exercise to be gone.

What I wonder is, how long after exercise or fasting would it be good to take Resveratrol so as to not negate the positives of what we just did. Another way of thinking about it is: how long do the benefits of exercise that are affected by Resveratrol last?

Thank goodness I watched this today! I have NAC and CoQ10 in my amazon basket as we speak! They're recommended for older women trying to improve egg health. I'm a bit torn with CoQ10 because the studies showed an improvement in egg health by taking 600mg daily of Ubiquinone/300mg Ubiquinol ideally 90 days prior to conception. I think the positive results in ovulation were after taking it for about six weeks but I'm not sure if they checked the long term impact. I'm swapping the antioxidants for sirt 6 activation instead with fucoidan/algae and some 72 hr fasts to boost stem cell health. Not forgetting NMN protocols, obviously! 😇 But vitamin E is added to my evening primrose oil as a preservative, and A+E are in my multivits 🤦 Oddly enough I was thinking of swapping the vits for spirulina and folic acid. Btw in case it's of help to your wife, I recently heard glycine has preventative properties to minimise stroke risk, but you probably already know this.
Ok so based on everything you've said so far I think I'm on track. I can see how your app could be helpful to keep people on track with their habits as the longevity lifestyle takes work and planning. But it's progress not perfection! This channel is such a help to me. Thanks for another informative video.

Awesome report Rimon thank you! Now I’m going to only take a large dose when I eat out. No more in the morning and I also train everyday unless I get overtrained. I’m 67 and don’t miss many workouts. I wonder is there anytime I should take a super low dose to help spark the daily dose of nmn like Sinclair? Although he’s taking a large dose… but he doesn’t workout very much. I’m definitely to cut back on resveratrol and I’m going to stay tuned to your next report. Lately I’ve been putting a dose of ginseng in my mouth along with nmn.

Thank you very much Rimon! I wanted to ask you a question, you who know so much and have investigated the matter, to see if you can help me think of something. There is a 2019 study that showed that resveratrol is capable of converting senescent cells in young cells that reproduce again. I mean, in a way, it's the opposite of a senolytic. The problem is that I was taking quercetin and resveratrol together. Now, after watching your videos and thinking a bit, I take quercetin (250 mg phytosome) one day, to induce apoptosis in senescent cells, and another day resveratrol to improve those that quercetin couldn't kill (say, every other day). Theoretically it should work, what do you think? (I'm 40 years old. I also take nmn, spermidine, d-ribose, and metformin, except on weekends that I do a stationary bike and a little weights).

I wanted to take a Quercetin/Bromelain supplement to reduce the symptoms of hay fever, but I was wondering if Quercetin in high doses will have the same effect of Resveratrol in high doses (and, as you are saying, resveratrol should be taken at a low dosage)

I trust Prof. Sinclair, he is a geneticist and sees how resveratrol works in details.
There is a reason why he uses such and not other doses.
I take 250 mg to 500 mg a day, 4-5 days on and then 2-3 days off - usually weekends.

Great video and information. I am a 62 yrs old male. I am taking each of the following 3 days per month: Sulforaphane, Fisetin, Grape seed extract and Quercetin. That equates to a different antioxidant for approx 3 days per week. I am wondering if all antioxidants that are taken externally have the same negative impact as resveratrol can have. I am 'hoping' that the cycling and varied antioxidants will lessen the negatives and allow for positive impacts. Or else may be I should ditch all antioxidants and focus on Sirt6 Activation. I exercise well 3/4 times per week. Any comments welcome.

Thanks for the analysis. Still, even it seems correct, it's easy to overlook something in such large amount of information and that's why a direct confrontation with someone (like Sinclair, Matt Kaeberlein, Vera Gorbunova, Jin-Xiong She, Charles Brenner, etc) would be beneficial, to see if all the information which you provide are correct.
ps. Sinclair said recently on a conference in India (YT video: fsUUgTPtwnc) that he takes now 0.5 gram of NMN only. Curious why ...

I would like to question the logic of taking resveratrol after the workout. As opposed to 24 hours before. Following exercise, our bodies go through a repair (and strengthening) process, particularly during rest at night. As the studies suggest wouldn’t taking resveratrol blunt this process/benefits if taken afterwards? Might it not be better to take 24 hours before so most is out of the system by the time we exercise. Would be interested in your thoughts? Great work with the channel.

I'm intrigued with your deep dive into Resveratrol. It's been talked about and suggested for ingestion and health benefits, for I think, 30 some years that I've noticed. However, I'm confused by how little is known about you. A casual Google search comes up with 2 pages and no mention of who you are.
Perhaps you are the Messiah. You've come back, taken a look and settled in on a new role as a Wellness Messiah. I mean it can be argued that things, the creation of Christianity aside, didn't go all that well personally for your physical well being. And who wants to go through that or something similar all over again? Still, questions remain.

I would like some clarification on the form of Vitamin E; was it the alpha tocopherol form or the alpha tocotrienol form? No surprise if it’s the former which has been shown to hinder the benefits of the latter.

Taking Resveratrol "after" exercise. is not a specific enough guideline. To me a time interval is necessary, as you don't want to introduce the anti-oxidant too soon after exercise for the same reasons you shouldn't be taking it before exercise. So a more definitive timing is necessary.

What usually happens when people go on vacation and stay in hotels is this: they look for excuses for sloppy planning and lack of discipline!
It's ridiculous and absurd to blame vacation for poor diet.
Wheni go on vacation, i plan everything in detail beforehand so that i can keep my diet consistent.
everything else is a flimsy excuse and ridiculous at that!

Thank you Rimon. If one searches the Vitamin C topic it gets more confusing:
“Placebo-controlled research, some of it double-blind, has shown that taking 400 to 3,000 mg of vitamin C per day for several days before and after intense exercise may reduce pain and speed up muscle strength recovery.”
It’s on human and not mice and could easily interpreted as overall +ev for the human.

Two of us had headaches, one of those two had fever also and starting to get blue color nails and seems like blood from that person is thinner and lighter. What could be possible answer to this?

Thaaanks so much. I thought you already made you best video but not. It was dense and very interesting. It fits with other studies made with crisp on res. I just wonder how long to wait after workout to take resveratrol? If you eat quite soon after, maybe resveratrol will stead mess with the effect of exercise?
Anyway I didn’t connect the dots with the ‘unhealthy’ meals. Thanks again for the clarification. At the end music covers a bit your voice but removes nothing to the very interesting sum up. Stay healthy, stay young 😊

So, we need to make a form of resveratrol that is not an antioxidant.

If the French Paradox led researchers to resveratrol then why not have a little fun & drink a glass of red wine with the meal? It's really quite simple wouldn't you say...red wine with meal ie low dose resv= better longer health....am I missing something here?

If you’re not careful about how you take resveratrol, you may achieve completely different benefits from the one …

I think it's very simple: Reservatrol is a stressor!
A little stress activates the cells response a little more than necessary. And this is the beneficial effect.
But too much stress is harmful.
Many poisons have this effect. So does other stressors, like heat and cold.
Vegetables contains many poisons. But we know which vegetables stresses us just enough.
In a way, exercise is also a stressor...

I am going to start asking on all of your videos that I come across to. Please share with us the protocol you used to put on so much muscle in just four weeks. I know it might not work for an older person but I’ve been eating a lot of protein over the last year and a half and I want to cut back on it. But I lost a lot of muscle over the last 10 years and I feel like I need to push to get some of it back before I Curtale my protein intake and concentrate more on maintenance.

Thanks for informative video. Good to do an interview with some other specialist in this matter, to make sure about your investigation, I think it is important to confirm, to not overlook anything.
Also, worth to analyse the absorption, which you didn't mention. Maybe it's important when you consider low dose 🙂

Dear Rimon, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for your wonderful and informative video. For over a year now, I have been taking 1g of resveratrol per day, being in my early forties and with a history of heart disease. Although I am unsure whether I have any tumors or cancer, I believe that I do not. After watching your insightful video, I find myself in a dilemma whether to alter my resveratrol dosages or not. I would appreciate any recommendations you may have on this matter. Once again, thank you for sharing your valuable insights.

When I reread David Sinclairs' book, I had the impression that mice obsorb resveratrol differently than people do. I took it as maybe they have better bioavailability than us, so a weight conversion formula between us and mice might not be accurate.

Initially it seemed that taking a senolytic daily in moderate doses didn’t make much sense to me, however many people seemed to be doing just that. I finally came to the conclusion that they know something I didn’t, but it seems from the studies you site, they don’t after all and the daily dose recommendations on most senolytic supplement labels should be ignored, which to be honest I always had.

Are you suggesting the studies indicate that an older adult, I'll be sixty in about a week, would be better off taking the larger dose of resveratrol? Very good analysis Rimon - thank you Where do you think this leaves us with taking Resveratrol together with NMN. Perhaps going too low may partly negate the perceived benefits of NMN. (Currently I choose to take 500mg of NMN with 256mg of Resveratrol per day being 70 years old :) )

After watching this several times, I cant help but wonder if the anti apoptopic nature of Low dose Resviristrol is actually a safety signal. Is there any data to suggest that it wouldn't increase overall cancer risk? The studies seem to suggest that you may actually encourage cancer cell growth if there is an underlying disorder

I wonder if daily Resveratrol supplement really is the way to go.
I would like to know if intermittent higher doses, say once a week, wouldn't be better. By "higher doses", I mean 0.6 -- 1 g.
Although, how can we translate once a week for humans into mouse times. Perhaps once a day for them?
By low doses, I consider what we get from plants to be about the right ones.
But that's just intuition...

So, from 50 years old and on perhaps an effective strategy would be: low-dose resveratrol+ polyphenol complex (i.e., red wine consumption) daily, punctuated every few months with several weeks of supplemental high-dose resveratrol.

I had thyroid cancer 18 months ago. They took half my thyroid out and I'm on thyroxine. They say the cancer has now 'gone'. But it's leaving wondering if nmn and resveratrol (that I've bought since but haven't yet started) is right for me. Should I consider myself as someone without cancer, OR should I be careful that some small cancer might exist and these supplements may aid their growth. I want to get started but I'm unsure what's best. (My Dr's don't want to advise on anything like rtrol or nmn or similar.

When you say high dose or low dose do you mean the overall intake over a long period of time or does the singular dose matter as well? In other words, if I take 200mg once a week do I still reap the same benefits as taking 50mg every other day?

Your ananolgy of a Republic as representation for our cellular collective is good, however what may be keeping the cells cooperating to the goals of the human or animal may have more to do with the state of bio-electric fields that surround all our cells. I would urge everyone to review the work of Prof. Michael Levin of Tufts University. It would be fascinating to see the effects or rather the relationship of various supplements on cellular bio-electric fields.

I wonder if anyone here has experienced the side effect. I was taking resveratrol, then direaha happened, and then the doctor found blood in my stool. After many scans, they found nothing wrong but it was the supplment. My stool returned to normal after I stopped taking this supplement. After a few months, I thought I tried to retake a resveratrol supplement, and the same thing happened!

Take that, don't take that. Take the other, don't take the other. Take less, take more. It makes sense. It doesn't make sense. Do yourselves a favour and save your hard earned money. Enjoy your life and do what makes you happy. A short, happy life is much better than a long, miserable one.

At 32:00 the 2022 study also says low dose Resveretrol can induce autophagy of senescent macrophages as well as promote cell viability and proliferation. These appear to be opposite effects. The effect on senescent macrophages is contrary to the point you are making. Can you comment on this please?

So resveratrol in high doses induces cells to kill themselves by activating the apoptosis program, by creating a signal that causes the cells to think they have been heavily damaged and therefore need to be killed and removed instead of repaired. Okay. But then, why would taking high doses of resveratrol (for example, 5 grams once each day for two consecutive days) preferentially cause cancer cells to commit suicide, compared to healthy cells committing suicide? Do cancer cells have a lower threshold for activating the apoptosis suicide program than non-cancerous cells?
A few years ago I participated in a clinical trial designed to evaluate the efficacy of the senolytic combination of quercetin and dasatinib at preferentially killing senescent cells. The dose I took was 0.5g dasatinib + 5.0g quercetin, once. After three such dosing regimens, spaced 6 months apart, the osteoarthritis in my knees disappeared.
Perhaps the optimal way to use resveratrol and other similar compounds, is to take low doses daily or every other day, and every once in a while, take a high dose prophylactically to clear out cancerous and/or senescent cells. Here I would say a low dose is about 250mg and a high dose is 5g.

Cancer is caused by a deficiency of vitamin B17. Cancer cells are just regular cells that remain juvenile (indeterminate) and fail to mature into a specific (determinant) type. Cancer therefore is a metabolic disease and cannot be cured by chemotherapy, radiation or surgery except only ap. 4% of types (childhood leukemia). Animals and humans who consistently maintain adequate levels of B17 in the diet did not get any form of cancer. All forms of cancer involve the same process. Read G.Edward Griffin’s book “World Without Cancer."

71 yrs 6'4" 220lbs with a CAC scan of +1000 and a GP who wants me on statins. Recently started daily taking K2/MK7 (300mcg) with D3 X3 (25mcg/1000IU) instead and NOW's Resveratrol (200mg) along with LOTS of other OTC supplements.
I currently have no sign of cancer but Dad (not sure what type) and a brother (who had Large B-cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma - survived!) had it.
Should I take 1 gram sequentially (i.e. every day for a week once a month)...or?
Not taking NMN, but should I?
Any other health/longevity suggestions for a semi-active old fart would be MUCH appreciated!

It is unfortunate that you continue to platform and Sinclair. That greedy, treacherous, back-stabber is no friend of the common man. His concern is great wealth, whatever it may do to the public health. He has proven this in spades by getting NMN jerked away from us all so that a tiny number of wealthy clients might one day take his "drug".

As an old retired scientist (octogenarian) I appreciate the efforts you expend in your research and interpretation of same. Your presentation level is excellent! I too have been taking David Sinclair’s protocol. I immediately backed down from 1 gram to 250 mg and then moved to 500 mg every other day. I have found from my own body reactions, tests etc. That a mostly vegan diet + 500mg NMN daily + 500mg Resveratrol every other day gives me the best results over the past 19 months. I’m forming an opinion that 36 hour fasting is going to be best for me. I usually have 2-3 tablespoons of EVOO when I break my fast. I have never smoked, drank alcohol or used illicit drugs. Today is my father in law’s 103rd birthday. He still gets around by himself. He played tennis 2-6 hours/ day for 82 years before he stopped at age 92 because he couldn’t keep up with the younger men!

Thank you very much for this in depth analysis of the available data. I'm glad you are doing the episode 2 on this topic because I kept thinking why is Dr. Sinclair taking 1 gram a day when the analysis so far points to a lower dose being the most effective dose. I look forward to the upcoming episode.

I am convinced that centenarians do have a genetic component. My family, especially on my paternal side, has consistently long life spans. My father (born in 1917) lived to be almost 100, but so did my grandfather, and great grandfather. We have gone back to the 1700’s, and were shocked to see how long people in our family line lived. This was during a time when life expectancy was far less. I am hoping good genes, and following a good anti aging lifestyle will get me to 110-120. As I said, both my parent died shortly before 100, and both were active and sharp minded.

Fascinating well-researched video. I read that high doses of resveratrol blunts the benefits of exercise. I assume that if I exercise 4-5 times a week in the morning, engage in intermittent fasting with the main meal in the afternoon, along with a glass of wine about every other day, I will receive nearly the maximum benefits of all three. Thanks

Great content, thanks for putting it together! What's your view on the bioavailability of resveratrol in mice vs humans? Could humans need a higher dose to factor in a possible lower bioavailability of resveratrol in humans, but still achieve similar results to the ones achieved with the mice on every other day feeding with low resveratrol?

Following up on my last comment: Besides dose (low or high), it seems that the bioavailability of free resveratrol between rodents and humans needs to be taken into consideration to achieve the same benefits that have been found in the different studies. 38% bioavailability of Resveratrol in rodents, and < 1% in humans is a significant difference that, from my understanding, shouldn't be neglected, therefore needing a higher dose in humans to achieve a similar outcome to the ones referred in the studies.

I really liked this presentation, Rimon. You revealed plenty of useful info. David Sinclair has repeatedly stated that resveratrol is needed to fully activate NMN. He gives the analogy of accelerator and fuel. Low dose resveratrol is helpful for lowering insulin and glucose but is 50 to 120 mg enough to effectively activate NMN?

I take knotroot as an natural source (I grind the root into a powder, its also sold in powder form now which would be a lot easier) I would assume its safer since its not just isolated resveratrol. I could be wrong. But that is my source. I only drink 1 bottle of wine a month. I'm sure it does something.

Thank you very much for the video and analysis! It is very interesting! But I think there is something very important that is not being mentioned. When doing the test tube studies with cells, sugar and resveratrol there are no problems with bioavailability. The question, in the case of humans, is how long a capsule or powder reaches the cells after passing through the intestines. Maby a dose close to a gram is necessary for some of it to reach the cells. Thank you very much and greetings from Buenos Aires.

I wouldn't consider red wine as "low dose Resveratrol". Considering the studies on mices etc as well as your interpretation you would consider the optimal dose roughly around 100 mg Resveratrol a day for fat/unhealthy people or every 2nd day for healthy, normal people. Red wine has roughly around 1mg per glass. So putting them into the same group does not make sense to me since it has FAR LESS Resveratrol than all the other studies (were i think the lowest doeses were around 33mg).

Going by the graphs and estimating the number values, it seems that EODLR is an approx. 2.3% increase and HCLR is 1.4% increase in longer lifespan. Transposing that to a human lifespan of 80 yrs, would be 1.8 yrs and 1.1 yrs gain in lifespan respectively. Granted, we would all like as long a lifespan as possible and even 1 year is desirable, but given other factors effecting lifespan is the low vs high resveratrol question that significant?

Yeah great vid. I think Sinclair was a bit defensive and uncourteous in that clip. It's really the calories restriction/fasting that did the bulk of the life extension for those mice. I don't think he was expecting the outcome which showed low dose is better and also that resveratrol isn't such a gamechanger for people already leading a healthy lifestyle.
As it happens i do in fact do alternate day fasting and CR, so I'll add a low dose resveratrol on the eating days.

I think you need to recheck your calculations at 10:23 where the low dose is stated as 4.9gms/kg which would equate to 490gms for a 100kg (220lb) individual (4.9 x 100 = 490) so a 160lb person would need to be taking 350mgs/day to be on an equivalent low dose. I take 400mgs/day. Also, Resveratrol should be taken with something that has fat in it as it is fat soluble. David takes his with his morning yoghurt, whereas I take mine with my morning glass of Bonsoy soy milk. NMN on the other hand should be taken with water on an empty stomach as it is water soluble. I take 1000mgs of NMN with a glass of water first thing in the morning.

What is your opinion on Resveratrol vs Trans-Resveratrol?
Is one gonna make a difference over the other or is that just supplement manufacturers trying to market their products to sell more?

Hay Rimon, if a guy doesn't follow your longevity advices for the first 60 years of his life and start applying them when turns 60, and another guy was applying your advices on longevity for the first 60 years of his life and stopped doing it once he turned 60, who of both do you think has more chances to live longer?

Didn't you already make a video talking about how low-dose cycled resveratrol is ideal? Around 100 mg daily, a few days on, a few days off. I recall you talking about how low-dose resveratrol restores senescent cells.

Isn't resveratrol is quasi not absorbed by the body? In the specific study, isn't it the control that is short lived? If large doses of resveratrol lead to a lower lifespan, isn't it because some is absorved? My questions might be naive, but I prefer to make sure we get things right

Rimon, here's the problem: videos 45mn long are a non starter, particularly when you start talking about some study in rats from Sinclair... more than 15 years ago.
Take a leaf from Brad Stanfield: if you can't condense someone else's research in less than 10mn, might as well read the paper.
Sinclair: it still amazes me how much credit this guy has. He made a fortune on a resveratrol research that was not replicable in 2006... and ignores all thr research since then.
Great stuff.

the only thing that sucks is that there are tons of companies out there making these products and its hard to say which one is the best, for Resveratrol, all i know is it should be white and crystilline, thats the only way you know its good supposeldy. my first product i bought from walmart (yeah i know dumb) was a freaking liquid, so now ive pulled out the shotgun and spent over $60 on 3 different brands to see which one meets those 2 criteria.
ive tried looking online for reviews but this is all new to me so im not sure what websites to trust or what brands are the best since most people that take these suppliments dont actually know that much about what they are taking.

I think the basic problem is sugar which is new for humans so get rid of sugar and all carbs in your diet and you do not need any compounds that reduce sugar in your body. I advise my patients who are obese to avoid 4 items: bread, rice, basta, and all sweets.

It's interesting but not really translatable to humans. In general, but it radically varies, mice have 5x higher metabolism than humans, so you would need to reduce the dose even more...and this is actually done in phase I trials. If this is some kind of effect that requires a nondrug phase to work, then you might also need to change the time on time off...for example 5days on 5 days off. We just don't know though and it may depend on other factors than just metabolism.

I only care about resveratrol and quercetin because they increase the effects of caffeine. The idea is taking low dose caffeine every other day to prevent tolerance. What does caffeine do? It makes running and working out easier. Why working out? To be healthier and to live longer. Probably I will also need piperline (black pepper) to increase the bioavailability of resveratrol.

I wonder why the leading researcher on longevity and aging at Harvard takes 1000mg resveratrol if his own data on mice suggest lower doses are more effective for his needs. Just seems odd he that he would disregard all his own data and in fact from what you suggest earlier potentially shorten his life with a higher dose. Very odd need to clarify his exact reasons/arguments for personal/human 1000mg daily consumption.
Great video but baffles me why Sinclair would ignore his own research if this is truly the case. Need to hear his own scientific reasons for 1g

I highly doubt that we can simply convert dosage from animals to humans, because absorption of resveratrol is very different between humans and animals. Thats why we see a lot of positive data from animal studies but the picture is a lot worse for human studies. So unless you account for the difference in bioavailability between humans and animals the conversion is plain and simple wrong.

I am wondering about the conversions of weight you made from mice to human. In dr Sinclairs podcasts he does say the weight conversion is anything but direct. In fact, a mini pig has the same 'weight' as a person, it depending on a number of factors and there being an established scientific ratio between different lab animals and human beings, quite unrelated to weight to weight. I do not understand your conversion. If you can better explain your conversion from mice to humans I would better accept a change in dose.

None of these survival curve diffreneces look impressive. If you take resveratrol for decades, you get to live 1 month longer if you are lucky, but spent thousands of dollars. In the end, who cares? Unless there's something better that comes along, I'll give it a pass.

Nice presentation and good work by the researchers. Fact is, as “scientific” as this may sound, it is extremely complicated to figure out those “efficient thresholds”, which also at a deeper look vary individual by individual (based on their context, emotional and psychological state and context etc). And also very difficult to control through lifetime. When I think about the “presumed benefits” (assuming we are correct and perfect in the execution of the plan), we realize that it comes down to just a few years of “extra life” (maybe 5-7 if we are lucky). And that comes with excruciating detail management about diet, quantify and frequency of exercise and exercise type and other limitations and management guardrails..then I wonder...is that longevity worth it? We all decide for ourselves clearly, but personally I am not so sure...

"God is not keen on longevity", that was funny. You are my savior Rimon! Great video, I was always worried I start losing muscle within a day or two of not intensely exercising. Thanks for the info about having about 2 weeks before major losses.

Great teaching. What if 64 and doing intensity as a woman, would that release more cortisol levels that cause you to gain weight?

So, how often should someone perform high intensity exercise for reaping longevity benefits? I missed this in the video.

Before demonizing carbohydrates, bear in mind that it's the high fat content of the Standard American Diet that causes the insulin resistance underlying excessive blood sugar spikes. Exercising after meals, or potato loading before an endurance workout, are great ideas.

Need your opinion. Is it okay if I break my fast with fresh fruits? I’ve been fasting 18 hrs (6 PM - noon next day) and exercise 30 minutes in the morning, mostly strength training or HIIT, I drink enough water. Then I eat fruits first (apple, pineapple, dragon fruit, oranges, pear) when I break my fast. Then in 30-60 minutes I have lunch, mostly protein and veggies/salad/sautéed veggies. I’m 166 cm, 52 kg, normal weight. My aim is to get fit. What do you think?

Throughout history people have survived on complex carbs, thing like whole grains, tubers and squash to get the bulk of their calories. In fact the earth could not come close to supporting it's population of humans without complex carbs. But this is different from simple and refined carbs which are sugary treats and grains that are processed so they loose much of their fiber, that is white flour or rice. These produce a much more rapid spike in blood sugar. It's normal to have some increase in blood sugar after a meal no matter what you eat which is why we fast overnight before having our blood sugar tested. But sweets and refined foods spike it faster. It is also natural for humans to be active either hunting and gathering or doing agricultural activities. So we can eat meals of complex carbs and then do mild to moderate exercise without fear of damaging our health. A note on potatoes: hot potatoes do spike the blood sugar unlike most natural carb foods but if cooled overnight in the refrigerator, they form resistant starch complexes that don't spike the blood sugar to an unhealthy extent. Pasta is made of starch with a structure that is more resistant to digestion also, so eating moderate amounts of it are no problem.

Isn't autophagy global during fasting? Side-benefit of fasting: release of BDNF.

Frequently with Weight Training make sense, but what about Aerob/ Cardio Training such as Thai Boxing or Running? I don’t think it’s a good idea to do that just once a week. What do you think?

Exercising after meals is good for longgevity, but not eating before exercise is better. Not eating immediately after exercising ist the best?

Yeah, definitely don't agree about exercising right after a large meal. Your body is busy digesting, it can't do too many things at once (at least mine can't LOL) 😄 In my case, I actually feel more sluggish and have sugar/energy crashes doing any intense activity straight after a meal. Eating 2-3 hours before exercise, and then possibly light simple carbs with electrolytes during it, and fat & protein afterwards (up to an hour later), works better IMHO.

Honestly, what does a rich thirty-eight year old football/soccer player know about longevity? GO VEGAN, exercise, get enough sleep, and you'll be fine!
