Weak compilation plays to everyone's preexisting notions
Austin Reaves is a solid top half of the league player but why am I seeing him before I see CJ McCollum, Kemba Walker, Terry Rozier, Donovan Mitchell, or De'Aaron Fox?
All of them have nastier handles and better individual highlights as well as highlight packages compared to Reaves (I tried to pick players who are still playing or played extremely recently w.r.t. Kemba).
I get the whole "build up" thing but I'd rather just have more of their highlights earlier. Brian Scalabrine has highlights on par with that first Reaves highlight, which ruined the video for me.

Nash, "Not athletic by any means", but Nash, "So fast, quick, and able to change directions so quickly he was one of the most evasive point guards in history, and amazing hand/eye coordination." Sounds like the definition of athletic to me...

"Pistol" Pete Marovich was doing all these moves we see now 40 plus years ago. He was a true magician with the basketball and was a pure shooter as well. This list is good for the modern era or the past 20 years, but not all time.

Marques Haynes of the Globetrotters exceeds them all - especially those from the 1980's onward who carry the ball, palm the ball, and execute similar cross-over actions which, in all levels of basketball in prior years, would have been called violations in the travelling category.

Two major grips with this list:
1. No Pistol Pete is intolerable disrespect
2. Calling Harden "one of the best offensive players ever"....C'MON SON! Maybe, MAYBE with a few added caveats like off the dribble, or shot creator, then you MIGHT have am argument. But strictly offense with no qualifications? No way is he top 5.
I enjoyed the video though. Props on he content.

This comment section is 3600 strong, and the video is 2 years old, so I doubt this will even get addressed. But I actually had a hot take on the best NBA ball handlers OAT yesterday.
All these guards are incredible with the rock. But if I were to choose the best, it's definitely #1 on this list. Even though his handle is flashy, Kyrie does something that not all ball handlers do.
Most ball handlers have quickness, especially changing direction, but their movements are to find space and/or draw the defense. That's why a good number of players on this list are known for their assist proficiency. They want to make space. This gives them options when attempting to score.
From there, you get guys who have outstanding court vision who can dish it off (Nash, Paul, and Williams), guys who can come off the dribble for a shot (Harden and Curry), and guys who had pure instinctual talent, becoming the go-to firearm whenever their team needs a shot (AI and Crawford). Albeit with a fair share of ball hogging.
All these guys, though, seem as though control of the ball is their highest priority. Which... of course, right? You're a ball handler, you aim to control the ball well.
Watch Kyrie play. Where all the others on this list have insane control of the ball, Kyrie seems more like he just has more body control/physical awareness than any other pro, ever. The ball handling is the byproduct, not the movement.
I think this is what makes him so dangerous. He takes every moment to put the ball where he wants, somewhere the defender can't reach it. But his moves don't ever seem... planned. He figures where he wants to go, reads the defense, and uses his amazing dexterity to execute.
He almost handles a basketball the way Barry Sanders ran a football. You know he'll do something amazing, but it will be in a way you've never seen before, even from him, simply because he only operates in the moment. That's the best way I can describe it.
I'm sure some will disagree, but it can't be understated that very few, if any, players of professional basketball (and pro sports in general) have the body control Kyrie has. Looking over all my favorite ball handlers, they all have a unique approach to dribbling. They broke the mold once Kyrie put his bid in to enter the league.
And this concludes my useless analysis.

CP3 should be ranked higher solely because of his low TO. If the title was top 10 "dribblers", I have no complains. But since it says "ball handlers", then TOs should be accounted for (ball security).

You guys need to stop saying players aren't athletic just because they don't have a 40+" leap. You say Nash wasn't athletic by any means, then contradict yourself by describing his speed and dexterity. Dude played ice hockey as a youth and basketball, soccer and rugby in high school.

Levels to ballhadling
North to South, East to west
Scoring and passing equivalent.
I love AI, Steph, and Tim but they had 1 on 1 ball handling moves. JKidd, Rod Strickland and others could do everything

Difficult list, because it really depends on the situation. Most players know Kyrie is intrinsically a natural ball handler and offensive style. But what about the others? I’ve seen Steph with such extreme ball handling sometimes in some scenarios. Whereas Durant can do a crossover unexpectedly and shock me. Considering he’s 7 foot with insane wingspan and handles well. KD difficult to guard, according to 19 votes (NBA players). Also he’s either top 10 or top 5 in shooting so that’s a cherry on top. Also Derrick or CP3 or Harden also have noticeably good handles with the ball. Sometimes Harden go crazy with the crossovers.
The one that stands out athletically is Curry and Kyrie, so fast. Especially when Curry mixes Kyrie handles and shooting. Best point guard in my opinion.

Kyrie is hands down the best ever! His left hand is so dangerous it’s illegal in 47 states! The English he puts on the ball to make it kiss, or stop on the glass is unmatched! He threw a left handed lob for a dunk to Jordan the other night, that blew my mind! It was effortless and without thinking! He really is ambidextrous! Nash the only person I seen who could make that play! His dribble packages, are unmatched, and a lot of them have never been seen b4! His handle so cold, Lebron, Tatum & KD have implemented some of his dribble moves into their game! It’s like u can’t play with him, and not get better dribbling! It’s just different! Strickland and Kemba should have been on the list, or at least honorable mention!

That cat was COLD with handles, the kinda handles plus lightning fast speed that SERIOUSLY struck fear into opponent's, you name it and they loathed seeing him streaking down the court!
The CRAZY thing about him was his vertical was equally insane at MAAAAAYBE 6' he could: DUNK, pin you on the back board swat you, pick your pocket and be headed back down court BEFORE you realized the ball was stolen, and destroy the entire team by either going around or over them!

The thing is the criteria for this list seems ambiguous. For example you list Harden very high for step backs and Euro steps which are moves where you pick up the dribble and not keep controlling the ball as part of the offense. The same with a couple of other options in that list that would be more adept in a list of Top ten Moves.
Ball handlers would include players like Tony Parker who was able to penetrate between tight defenses and multiple opponents without breaking the dribble, or even slip and lose balance and still keep the dribble alive, get up, and continue the play. And like him, others.

I agree with the list but Zeke has to be up higher. There would be no Hardaway, AI, Kyrie, CP, Steph without that man. His handles back in the day were ridiculous. And like the video said, he did all that in the era of hand-checking. He was second to only Magic in that era of play at the point guard position. And he gave it to Magic when they met in the finals both times. Kyrie is definitely #1, AI definitely is top 3, but Zeke needs to be top 5.

Pistol Pete should be #9 or #10 (check out his behind the back, half-court pass to a cutter in between two players). AI had the crossover, but not much else so I would put him lower. Thomas should be higher even though he was dirty. Rafer Alston should be here, so maybe take Harden off since he travels like 1/3 of the time :)

Top ball handler: kyrie
Top ankle breaker: iverson
Yes it's different.
But based on history achievements of those two:
1. iverson breaks the ankle of jordan and kobe. Iverson also breaks defender's ankle that caused them to drop and slides away from him.
2. Kyrie made a bet to kobe "you can't guard me" but kobe wins.

Steph Curry gotta be arguably the best, his highlights are him at 6'2 creating his own shot and splashing the ball, but he gets those highlights not from his vert and shooting over guys but from his dripple and handle. Sure, he scores a hell of a lot from off ball movement but as for someing creating their own shot just with their handle...its him or Kyrie

Switch pistol for curry and the list is excellent.
This might sound controversial but curry is not a top ball handler of all time. He's incredible but doesn't compare to the best. His shot is out of this world so the defender can't give him an inch from 50 feet away from the basket. They'd rather him go to the basket. It's not his handle that's so great it's his shot. It's kinda like putting lbj as one of the best passers of all time. He has amazing passes in his career not Bec he's a great passer but Bec you needed all 5 guys to stop him so it left everyone else open

This is a list we will never truly know. They didn't allow you to carry the ball back in the day. They are literally allowed to carry the ball in todays NBA so we will never know. That's why we see so many more ankle breakin crossovers today. It also allows the offensive player to easily create separation to shoot the jumper. To hard to defend when you're literally allowed to carry the ball. Today's NBA does not have better ball handlers. If carrying was allowed back in the 90's and 80's this list would be completely different

This guy is obviously a sprout, nothing but new era players that have no defense played against them and much easier dribbling rules. 1: Pistol Pete 2: Isaiah Thomas 3: Mark Price 4: Allen Iverson 5: John Stockton 6: Tim Hardaway 7: Steve Nash 8: Bob Cousy 9:Chris Paul 10: Magic Johnson 11: Kyrie Irving 12: Jason Williams
In the days of Cousy and Pete you couldn't palm the ball, the ball had to touch the bottom of the hand while in the downward position hit the floor and back to the hand in the downward position. That is much more difficult and with hard fouling defenses to boot. To me the most impressive ball handler in history is someone who the ball looks as if it's on a yo yo and can dribble into traffic and dribble out if no options open up, control the dribble the whole time and have controlled dribble at fast sprinting speeds. Not many are in this category but Mark price is the quintessential dribbler in my eye.

You TOTALLY forgot about ➡️Steve Francis!⬅️ He was doing And1 moves to players straight disrespectful! Breaking ankles!
Also Harden is handicap. He rarely uses his right hand and when he does use his right, it'll be no more than 2 dribbles. Bron disrespects him and guards him with an open right drive because bron knows he can't drive with the right hand. He shuts him down easy and harden will turnover and fumble with his dribbling when Bron does that. It's really embarrassing🤦🏽♂️

This list is all about today, but if it were inclusive, Pete Maravich would be at the top. Pistol Pete was famous for both his shooting and his ball handling. Young people today never saw him. If they did, they wouldn't be able to shut up about how great he was. He never played for a great team until the final year of his career when he went to the Celtics. His talents were wasted, even in Boston. I would sit in the stands at Boston Garden and chant under my breath "Put Maravich in. Put Maravich in. Come on, put Maravich in."

Disrespecting AI? You do realize AI averaged 26 pts, 6 assists and 2 steals for his career most of which came on a 76ers team that would have been a lottery team if not for him. The year the 76ers went to the finals AI averaged 31 and in the playoffs he averaged 33. The next highest scorer was Theo Ratliff with 12.4. Who was he supposed to pass too? That and in 01 he played the 2. Oh and he was like 5’10.5, 165 soaking wet in a league dominated by all time great defensive 7 footers like Shaq, KG, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Rasheed Wallace, Alonso Mourning, etc.

Isiah thomas should number 1. Because with handchecks and physicality back then no one can dribble like that today. Today they can only dribble anywhere they want and anything they want to do with the ball because there's no more handchecking.

Everything negative said about A.I. was BS. If you are 165 lbs with a 40+ vert there is no reason to add weight to your body. So “hitting the gym” would have made no sense for him and would probably would have reduced his speed.
He passed the ball. Especially when he was traded to teams who could make buckets. Iverson routinely made 10+ assists. He took a ton of “bad shots” but usually went to the line. If he played in todays league he’d average 45-50 pts. Kyrie has better pure handles. But A.I. did more damage with less bounces because of his speed.

Lol you have Harden??? HAHAHAHAHA. Put Drose in that spot at least - even though based on your description of Kyrie... Drose would be 1. Bc Rose did all you said Kyrie does but did it faster, stronger, higher, further.
-At least you got ONE THING right about Harden... HIS GREATEST CREDENTIAL is "DRAWING FOULS"... U nailed it - WOW, AMAZING.
Regardless, he doesn't belong on this list - period. End of STORY. It's not even close. Maybe if there was a top 100. He's not a top ever ball handler... it's just ludicrous - whatever else one might say about him.
