John Wayne was more than just a cowboy on screen—he was a quiet empire builder. While fans
0:12
admired his grit and gunslinging roles, behind the scenes he quietly amassed a massive fortune.
0:28
But the real surprise came after his death. When details of his hidden wealth surfaced,
0:34
Hollywood was stunned. His legacy wasn’t just cinematic—it was financial,
0:41
too. The Duke had built an empire few ever saw coming.
0:46
Early Life Before John Wayne became a Hollywood legend, he was a small-town boy named Marion Robert Morrison. He was born in Winterset,
0:56
Iowa, in nineteen hundred seven. His family lived a simple life. They worked hard every
1:02
day to make sure they had what they needed. Life was not easy, but they stuck together and
1:08
did their best. When Marion was still young, his family decided to move to Glendale, California.
1:15
That move changed everything for Marion. In Glendale, Marion got a new nickname, “Duke.”
1:23
The name came from a big dog he had, an Airedale Terrier named Duke. Marion and his dog were always
1:30
together. Because of that, people started calling Marion “Little Duke” and the dog “Big
1:37
Duke.” Marion liked the nickname and kept it. From that day on, people called him Duke. It was a name
1:45
that stuck with him for the rest of his life. As a boy and then a young man, Duke was full of
1:52
energy. He had a strong body and loved sports. In high school, he played football and was very
2:00
good at it. His skill on the field made him a star player, and soon he earned a football
2:07
scholarship to the University of Southern California. This was a big deal and gave him
2:12
hope for a bright future. He dreamed of becoming a famous athlete. But then, life took a sudden turn.
2:21
One day during a game, Duke got badly hurt. The injury was serious. It ended his football
2:28
career and changed his path. This was a hard moment for Duke. He had worked so
2:33
hard to get where he was, and suddenly, it was over. Many would have given up,
2:39
but Duke had a different kind of spirit. Instead of quitting, he looked for a new way to succeed.
2:47
In nineteen twenty-six, one of Duke’s old football coaches helped him find a job in a movie studio.
2:53
It wasn’t an exciting job at first. He worked behind the scenes at Fox Film Corporation. His
3:00
tasks included moving props and helping where he could. Though the work was small, it gave
3:06
him a chance to see the world of movies. He even took small roles as an extra in silent films.
3:13
These were small parts, but they put him in front of the camera. While working at Fox, Duke met a director named John Ford. The two quickly became friends. Ford
3:24
noticed Duke’s strong presence and believed he had something special. Their friendship
3:30
became very important. John Ford would go on to direct many of the films that made Duke a star.
3:37
One of Duke’s first movie roles was in Mother Machree in nineteen twenty-eight. His
3:43
role was herding geese. It was a tiny part, and kind of funny,
3:48
but it was his first step into the world of movies. For Duke, it was the start of a big
3:54
journey that would take him from small roles to becoming one of Hollywood’s most famous stars.
4:01
Duke's time working at the movie studio was just the beginning. Soon, he would get
4:07
his first real chance to act. The friendship with John Ford would change his life forever.
4:15
The Struggling Years In the early years of his career, Marion
4:21
Morrison went through a big change. In nineteen thirty, director Raoul Walsh gave him a new name,
4:29
John Wayne. The studio felt Marion’s real name sounded too soft for a tough Western hero.
4:36
“John Wayne” had a strong, bold ring to it. It fit the kind of man they wanted him to be on screen.
4:43
From that day, Marion Morrison became John Wayne. That same year, John Wayne got his first leading
4:50
role in a movie called The Big Trail. The film was a big project with new camera techniques
4:57
and large, dramatic scenes. The studio hoped it would be a huge hit. But there was a problem.
5:05
Many theaters could not show the new film format. As a result, the movie did not
5:10
do well at the box office. It failed to make money, and that slowed down John Wayne’s rise.
5:17
Even though The Big Trail flopped, John didn’t give up. Over the next several years, he acted
5:24
in many small Western films. These movies had low budgets and simple stories. They weren’t big hits,
5:31
but they gave John steady work and experience. He didn’t become famous right away. Instead,
5:38
he used these years to learn and grow. Film after film, he worked on his craft and began
5:44
to understand what made a good Western hero. During this time, John started to shape his
5:50
signature character. He often played men who were brave, honest, and strong. He stood tall,
5:56
spoke clearly, and moved with quiet confidence. His look and voice became part of his image.
6:03
People watching felt like his characters were real. These roles helped John develop the
6:08
style that would make him famous later. John also learned more about the movie business itself. He watched closely how films were made, how directors worked,
6:19
and how actors were treated. He paid attention to details others might have missed. This knowledge
6:25
helped him a lot as his career moved forward. Then, in nineteen thirty-nine, things changed
6:31
for the better. John Ford, a famous director who had known John for years, gave him a big break.
6:39
Ford cast him in Stagecoach. John played Ringo Kid, a brave young man on the run. Unlike John’s
6:46
earlier low-budget movies, Stagecoach had strong writing, good directing, and a powerful story.
6:54
Stagecoach was a hit. People loved the film, and they loved John Wayne in it. This movie was the
7:01
break John had been waiting for. After years of hard work and struggle, he finally became a real
7:09
movie star. His slow climb had paid off, and his career was about to take off. From this point on,
7:18
John Wayne’s name was known everywhere. The tough cowboy image he created stayed
7:24
with him for decades. His early struggles shaped him into the icon we remember today.
7:31
After years of hard work, John Wayne was finally ready for his big break. His patience and practice
7:38
were about to pay off. The role that would make him famous was waiting just around the corner.
7:45
The Golden Years After Stagecoach came out in nineteen
7:51
thirty-nine, everything changed for John Wayne. The film got seven Academy Award nominations and
7:58
made him a big name in Hollywood. It also started his long friendship and work partnership with
8:04
director John Ford. From nineteen thirty-nine to nineteen sixty-three, they worked together
8:09
on many films. This helped John grow as an actor. One early film they did was The Long Voyage Home,
8:17
where he played a deeper role. It showed that he had real acting skills, not just a strong look.
8:25
These films helped him build the kind of character people came to love, brave, strong, and honest.
8:33
In the late nineteen forties and through the fifties, John started to act in war films. In nineteen forty-nine, he starred in Sands of Iwo Jima. He played a serious Marine
8:45
and got his first Academy Award nomination for it. This showed that he could do more
8:50
than Westerns. He also worked on other films like She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Rio Grande,
8:56
and The Searchers. These stories gave him a chance to show more emotion and depth in his acting.
9:02
John also used movies to share his beliefs. He cared about his country and had strong views. He
9:10
wanted to show that through his work. In nineteen sixty, he directed and acted in The Alamo. He
9:16
spent years trying to get the movie made. Later, in nineteen sixty-nine, he made The Green Berets.
9:24
It was one of the first big films to support the Vietnam War. These movies mattered a lot to him.
9:31
They gave him a voice outside of acting. Then came a big moment in his career. In
9:37
nineteen sixty-nine, John Wayne won an Academy Award for True Grit. He played Rooster Cogburn,
9:46
a rough and tough U.S. Marshal with one eye. This role was different from his usual clean
9:52
and noble characters. He got to show a fun side, a tired side, and a bold side all at once. People
10:02
loved it. The award proved that he had real talent and could do more than one kind of role.
10:10
John Wayne was now a true movie star with many hit films. But even famous actors can
10:16
make big money mistakes. His trust in the wrong people would soon cost him dearly.
10:22
The Business Mistakes John Wayne made millions from movies, but he also lost a lot of money along the way. Twice in his life, he faced big financial trouble.
10:33
These mistakes were painful, but they also helped him learn how to protect his money in the future.
10:39
The first big problem happened in the nineteen fifties. At that time, John trusted a business
10:45
manager named Bo Roos. Bo handled all the money and made choices for him. John thought
10:51
Bo was smart and careful, so he let him take full control. But Bo made some very bad decisions. He
10:58
talked John into investing in a deal in Panama. It looked like a great idea, but it was a scam. John
11:05
lost seven hundred thousand dollars in that one deal. On top of that, he lost another one million
11:12
dollars in more deals connected to the first one. The money was gone, and John was left with
11:19
nothing. Even though he was one of the biggest movie stars in the world, he was almost broke.
11:26
Sadly, the trouble did not stop there. A few years later, John trusted someone else with his money.
11:34
This time, it was a family member. His oldest daughter’s husband, Donald LaCava, offered to help
11:40
with finances. John trusted him because he was part of the family. But Donald was not good with
11:47
money either. He made more bad choices. Instead of helping, he made things worse. John had no idea
11:55
how bad things were until bills started piling up. One of the worst moments came when he got a bill
12:02
from Saks Fifth Avenue. It was for thirty-five hundred dollars. The bill had not been paid. For
12:09
someone who had worked in so many big movies, not being able to pay a store bill was a huge
12:16
shock. That was the breaking point for John. After that, he made a big change. He fired the
12:24
people who caused the problems. He stopped giving full control to others. John began to handle his
12:32
own money. He read the details, asked the right questions, and paid attention to every deal. He
12:39
focused on doing movies that paid well and gave him steady work. He stayed away from risky ideas.
12:47
Slowly, he started to rebuild what he had lost. John became smarter with every step.
12:54
He learned to protect what he earned. In the end, those hard lessons helped him create real,
13:01
lasting wealth, not just for himself, but also for his children and grandchildren.
13:08
These hard lessons taught John Wayne to be more careful with money. He learned to watch his finances closely and make smarter choices. But even as he got richer, health problems were
13:19
starting to catch up with him. The Secret Health Battle In nineteen fifty-six, John Wayne worked on a movie called The Conqueror. The film was made
13:30
in St. George, Utah. At the time, it seemed like a good place to shoot a desert story. But nearby,
13:37
the U.S. government had tested nuclear bombs. The wind blew radioactive dust into the area
13:42
where the cast and crew worked every day. No one knew how dangerous it was back then.
13:48
More than two hundred people worked on that film. Over the years, many of them became very
13:54
sick. Ninety-one people out of two hundred twenty were later diagnosed with cancer. Out of those,
14:01
forty-six people died from the illness. These numbers were much higher than normal. Many
14:07
believed that working near the nuclear test site played a part in those health problems. John Wayne
14:14
was one of the people who may have been affected. In nineteen sixty-four, John was told he had lung
14:20
cancer. He had been a heavy smoker for many years. The news was hard. Doctors had to remove
14:27
one of his lungs and a few ribs. It was a major surgery. Most people thought he would not survive,
14:34
but he came back strong. He kept acting in movies and stayed busy with work.
14:40
Years later, John was hit with more bad news. This time, he had stomach cancer. It
14:46
was another tough battle. Even with the pain, he stayed strong. He began to speak out about
14:53
cancer. He told people to see their doctors and to take care of their health. He used his
14:59
story to help others and raise awareness. John Wayne’s last movie was The Shootist,
15:05
released in nineteen seventy-six. In the film, he played a gunfighter who was dying
15:10
of cancer. It was a quiet and powerful role. At the time, John was fighting cancer in real life
15:18
too. The role felt very real. Many fans saw it as his way of saying goodbye through film.
15:25
John died on June eleventh, nineteen seventy-nine. He was seventy-two years old. His battle with
15:32
cancer had come to an end. Even though he was sick for many years, he kept working. He stayed
15:39
strong for his family, his fans, and for himself. John Wayne fought cancer with the same strength
15:48
he showed in his movies. His battles with illness were kept mostly private from fans. When he died,
15:54
he left behind more than just film memories. The Controversial Will
15:59
When John Wayne passed away in June of nineteen seventy-nine, he left behind more than just
16:05
movies. He also left behind a fortune. At that time, his estate was worth around seven million
16:13
dollars. In today’s money, that would be close to twenty-five million dollars. He had worked for
16:20
many years, and by the end of his life, he owned several homes, land, and other valuable things.
16:27
He had properties in Arizona and in Washington State. These places held
16:32
not only value but also memories. His will was carefully written to make sure his family was
16:39
taken care of. He thought about who had been close to him and who had helped him.
16:45
Some names were expected. Others were a surprise. John had seven children from two marriages. Each
16:52
child received part of his estate. He wanted all of them to have a stable future. Some of
16:58
them also received personal items that meant a lot to him. His will showed that he cared about each
17:05
child and wanted them to be secure even after he was gone. John also left something for his first
17:12
wife. Even though they were no longer together, he set up a trust fund to give her regular payments.
17:19
This showed that he respected the time they had shared and wanted to support her in some way.
17:25
He also remembered a few people outside his family. Two of his longtime secretaries
17:30
were given gifts of tens of thousands of dollars. These women had worked with him
17:35
for many years. He trusted them, and they had been by his side through many parts
17:40
of his life. He made sure they were rewarded. But not everyone was included. His third wife,
17:47
Pilar Pallete, was left out completely. They had already signed a legal agreement that settled
17:53
their finances. By the time John passed away, they had been living separate lives for years.
18:00
Because of that agreement, she had no claim to his estate, and her name did not appear in the will.
18:07
One part of the will surprised many people. John made sure that Donald LaCava, his oldest
18:13
daughter’s husband, would never get any part of the inheritance. Years earlier, Donald had made
18:20
poor money decisions that caused big problems. John had not forgotten that. He added a clear
18:27
rule in his will that said Donald could never touch his daughter’s share, even if she passed
18:33
away. That money would stay in the family and go to her children or someone else she chose.
18:39
John Wayne’s will told a strong story. He made sure his children were protected. He thanked
18:46
people who had stood by him. He also kept out the ones he no longer trusted. The way
18:51
he wrote his will showed the same strength and care that people had always seen in his
18:57
movies. It was a final message from a man who had built something big and wanted to keep it safe.
19:04
John Wayne's will showed he cared about his family's future. He made sure the right people
19:10
got his money and kept out those who had hurt him. His smart planning would help his family
19:16
for many years to come. The Family Legacy John Wayne left behind more than movies. He built something that helped his family for many years.
19:28
His planning gave his children and grandchildren a strong future. His name, his work, and his money
19:36
helped create a legacy that still matters today. John had seven children. Each one played a part in
19:45
keeping his memory alive. His oldest son, Michael Wayne, worked in movies like his
19:50
father. He became a well-known producer and helped protect the family name in Hollywood.
19:57
Mary, also called Toni Wayne, received a good part of the inheritance. She lived
20:03
a quiet life but stayed close to her family. Patrick Wayne also became an actor. He had a
20:10
long career in films and was proud to follow in his father’s steps. Melinda Wayne helped
20:16
run family matters. She made sure things stayed organized behind the scenes. Aissa Wayne helped
20:24
in the family business. She shared stories about her father and made sure new fans knew
20:29
who he was. John Ethan Wayne, one of the younger sons, worked to protect the Wayne brand. He also
20:37
acted in films and later focused on keeping his father’s image strong. Marisa Wayne,
20:43
the youngest daughter, stayed involved in family events and supported the work others were doing.
20:49
John made smart choices with money too. His first wife, Josephine, got monthly payments
20:55
from a trust fund. This helped her live a good life. After she passed away, that money went
21:02
to four of their children. This helped them stay strong and secure. The trust fund gave
21:07
the family steady support and kept the money safe. It was made to last and help future generations.
21:15
John’s grandchildren also gained from all of this. Some of them work in the family business.
21:21
They help make choices about the estate and protect the Wayne name. They keep things going
21:27
and help share his story with new people. The family still owns the estate and earns money
21:33
from it. Items with John Wayne’s name and face are still sold today. Fans all over the world still
21:41
love his image and buy products with his name. Because John planned well and taught strong
21:47
values, his family stayed close. They learned from him and took care of what he built. His
21:55
work gave them more than money. It gave them a name they are proud of. His legacy is still
22:02
alive today through the people who carry his name and protect everything he worked for.
22:07
John Wayne's children learned to protect what their father had built. They worked together to keep his name strong and meaningful. Soon they would turn his legacy into a real business empire.
22:20
The Modern Business Empire John Wayne may be gone, but his name is still strong today. His family runs a company called John Wayne
22:31
Enterprises. Their goal is to keep his memory alive and share his values with new generations.
22:38
The company works hard to protect his name and image. They make sure anything
22:43
with his name stands for something good. That means high-quality products, strong values,
22:50
and respect for what John Wayne believed in. The company likes to focus on things that
22:56
last. They choose items that stand the test of time instead of following quick trends.
23:02
They also give back to the community. Helping others has become part of the brand’s mission.
23:08
John Wayne Enterprises has grown into a big business. One part of it is wine. The family
23:16
created Wayne Family Estate, which makes and sells wine. It is one of their most popular
23:22
products. They also partnered with Fire and Flavor to make grilling tools and food items.
23:29
These products fit well with the cowboy style and outdoor life that fans connect with John Wayne.
23:35
There are also many collectibles and items for fans. People can buy books, hats, clothing,
23:42
posters, and other keepsakes. Some of these items are new, and others are tied to his old movies.
23:49
Fans love to own a piece of his story. The company also works with publishers to release books about
23:56
John Wayne’s life and career. These books help tell his story in simple and powerful ways.
24:04
One of the most important parts of his legacy is the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. This was created
24:11
after his death to help people fighting cancer. John had cancer more than once,
24:17
and he wanted to make a difference. The foundation gives money to research and supports programs
24:24
that help patients. It also teaches people how to catch cancer early and take care of their health.
24:32
Today, John Wayne Enterprises is more than a business. It is a way to keep
24:37
his memory alive and help others. His family runs it with care and pride.
24:43
They protect the values he believed in and work hard to make sure his name stands for something
24:49
good. Continues family's charitable legacy. The Wayne family built a company that honors
24:55
John's memory and values. They created many ways to share his story with new fans.
25:01
The Ongoing Revenue Streams Even though John Wayne passed away many
25:07
years ago, his name still earns money. His family worked hard to keep his legacy strong. Today,
25:14
there are many ways the John Wayne name brings in income. These streams help support the family
25:21
and keep his brand alive for future generations. One of the biggest sources of money comes from his
25:27
old films. People still watch his classic movies like True Grit, The Searchers, and Stagecoach.
25:34
These films are shown on television, sold online, and streamed across many platforms.
25:41
Every time someone buys or watches one of these films, the estate earns money. His
25:46
movies also reach people in other countries. International deals help the family earn more
25:52
from global fans who enjoy his work. Merchandise is another important part.
25:58
Items like shirts, hats, posters, and mugs with his image or famous movie
26:04
quotes are still popular. Many people buy these products because they like his style or grew up
26:10
watching his movies. Others buy them as gifts or collectibles. These products help keep his image
26:17
in stores and online, where new fans can find him. Brand partnerships also help bring in income.
26:26
The Wayne family chooses products that match John Wayne’s values. They want everything with his
26:32
name to be strong, honest, and high quality. The wine line from Wayne Family Estates and grilling
26:39
tools made with Fire and Flavor are good examples. These items reflect the bold and simple lifestyle
26:46
that many fans connect with John Wayne. Because the family makes careful choices,
26:52
the brand stays respected. It speaks to older fans who watched his films years ago
26:58
and also to younger people who admire his story. This wide appeal helps the business
27:04
stay strong across different age groups. Another source of income comes from real estate and investments. Over the years, the family has owned land and homes that grew in
27:15
value. These properties are managed with care and are part of the estate’s long-term plan.
27:21
The family also has other investments in business funds and stocks. These choices help them build wealth and stay secure. By having many different income streams, the John
27:33
Wayne brand stays steady. If one area slows down, others keep things going. The money from films,
27:40
products, real estate, and business deals all work together to support the family and the brand.
27:48
John Wayne's brand makes money in many different ways even today. His films, products, and business
27:54
deals all help support his family. But his biggest impact goes far beyond just making money.
28:02
The Cultural Impact John Wayne gave the world more than movies. His name became a symbol of strength, courage, and standing tall through tough times.
28:14
People saw him as someone who always kept his word and never backed down. Over time, he became a true
28:22
American icon. His impact is still felt today. He played strong characters in westerns and war
28:30
films. Many fans saw those roles as a picture of real American values. He stood for freedom,
28:38
hard work, and bravery. People across the country looked up to him. Even now, many believe John
28:46
Wayne represents the heart of the American spirit. He helped shape the western movie style. His slow
28:53
walk, deep voice, and honest stare became part of film history. He built the western into a classic
29:02
movie genre. Younger generations still watch his movies and feel connected to his characters. His
29:09
image lasts because he stood for something real. In two thousand seven, fans across the country
29:16
celebrated his one hundredth birthday. There were big events to honor his legacy. Families
29:25
came together for chuck-wagon dinners and outdoor concerts. These events brought back the feeling
29:31
of old western life. People wore cowboy hats, sang songs from his films, and shared
29:38
stories about what John Wayne meant to them. There were also auctions where fans bought
29:43
signed photos, film props, and rare collectibles. Competitions gave people a chance to show their
29:50
knowledge of his movies and win prizes. His family helped plan these celebrations. They wanted fans
29:57
to remember John in a fun and meaningful way. One of the strongest parts of John Wayne’s
30:02
legacy is the work through the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. After he passed away, his family
30:09
started the foundation to honor his final wish. John had fought cancer more than once. He wanted
30:17
to help others going through the same struggle. The foundation raises money for cancer research
30:23
and care. It supports events like golf tournaments and film nights. One special series is called
30:30
“Louie and the Duke Classics.” These events bring people together to watch John Wayne
30:36
movies and raise money at the same time. Fans enjoy the films and help support a good cause.
30:43
Through the foundation, his name brings hope to families fighting cancer. His story reminds
30:50
people to stay strong. Even after many years, John Wayne continues to help others. His impact
30:58

I also became a Bruce Lee connoisseur, independently, before I knew or realized that he was popular. Started renting out his 70s movies and began buying and reading books penned by him or about him.
Always knew and realized he was way better than anyone else ever has been or will be. Way beyond a prodigy or fanatic. There's no one remotely similar in any way. Way beyond legit. In a real-life fight; almost no one who's ever lived would defeat him. Not a borrowed opinion or cliche. Beyond obvious.

Dolph Lundgren became interested in martial arts at a young age. This would lead him to hold the rank of 4th dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and become European champion in 1980 and 1981.

How about Benny Urquidez He has earned black belts in nine different martial arts and trained in other styles. The Jet decided to pursue full-contact karate as a career in 1974. He achieved a record of over 200 wins and no losses, with 63 title defenses and 57 KOs. He is the only fighter to have retained six world titles in five weight divisions for 24 consecutive years. He appeared with John Cussack in Grosse Point Blank. He said that if Cussack hadn't pursued acting HE could have competed in Kickboxing.

As in the video, it was noted that on set and in movies all of this action is choreographed. Still, occasionally I have wondered who win say if Norris VS Seagal were paired up in the ring or on the mat. So, if there was a tournament held who ultimately would win first place, and not to a death. After reading some of the other comments others were brought to our attention that there are others that should have been included. And like the MOJO videos. who would have received any "reasonable mention". You should also do a video as to the "ladies" who also are involved in "Marshall Arts". The one I would think about would be Nia Peeples of "Walker" and "Marshall Law".

I've always always been a huge Steven Seagal fan. I understand why many people hate him; can't relate to him; why they think he's overrated and washed up.
His "aikido" is truly an 'acquired taste' not for everyone or most anyone. It's super unique and works for me in movies, partly because it is so different, cool, and unique. I love to see Segal break bones, noses, snap bones, etc. It's hilarious and entertaining.
I am a very very complex individual and feel I relate to Seagal in a lot of ways; enigmatic ways.
I think Seagal is both underrated and overrated; very enigmatic, not understandable, mostly for the best. Most people hate him and will never understand him.
Yes, I believe he's been mostly washed up and a self-parody for many years and as a result has used countless stunt doubles, etc. in many movies. People think this is the REAL Seagal and always has been. I disagree.
I do believe he was once truly legit; and I don't blame him even if he is 'over-confident' at times and think he is better than anyone else. If I was into martial arts, I believe I would be beyond super-awesome and believe I would be better and more legit than anyone else too...

As an 'action presence,' he's decent; as an 'actor,' he's personality-less and wooden as can be; a pure dullard. Seems like an okay guy.

It depends on what the criteria of rating the various actors of their martial art skills. In terms of skills, Norris, Li, Van Damme were competitive martial arts practitioners before going into acting. Bruce Lee had his own school of martial arts for martial arts before acting. Jackie Chan besides training, is a professional stuntman before becoming an actor. For many of the actors, mentioned, they've all training for multi disciplines of their marital arts. Segal at the bottom of the list is known only specializes in one martial art in his early years. Has not been associated in other skills of martial arts, which there are other martial artists of more recent years that have demonstrated a number of other martial art skills, acrobatic abilities or acting skills in conjunction, which be more memorable or amazing than Segal. Is the determination based on 'American' movies appeared in or ratings by viewers nationally or internationally? There are a number Japanese, Chinese, Korean actors/martial arts that have movies that draws raves from the viewers who watch martial arts movies and/or practical martial arts, that shows better skills in the martial arts than Segal.

People are rightly focusing on the missing names, but can we also talk about the wild choices of movies? When you listed The Expendables 2 as a movie that "brought people to stardom" or something, that is just crazy. The premise of the Expandables series was that the stars were well past their box office prime. How do mention Jean Claude without bringing up Kickboxer? Double Impact? That was JCVD x 2 for Christ's sake. Jason Statham in Fast & Furious?!? What about War? It had Statham and Jet Li. The movie that truly launched Statham's career was Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Jet Li in the Expendables 2?!?!?! This is probably the worst one. The Legend. The One. Fist of Legend. Kiss of Dragon. Hero. Fearless. War. So many movies.... And you pick Romeo Must Die and Expendables 2... Crazy.

I really think you should have added Michael Jai White to this video. Ive been a martial arts fan since the 60s and I think Michael Jai white was easily one the of the best martial artists ever in movies such as Never back Down, Movies, Undisputed 11,Last man standing and Blood and Bone (one of the best martials arts movies I've ever seen) to name a few. He is an exceptional fighter and probably could beat most of the other actors except maybe, Stephen Segal or Bruce lee. He's also a good actor and been in many Tv shows and serials as well such as the Green Arrow

Another actor is British born Neil Newbon. Newbon has trained in various martial arts for over 16 years, including kung fu (in the styles Crane, Shaolin, Snake, and Tiger), kickboxing, judo, and Wadō-ryū karate. He is mainly known for his motion and voice actor for games like Baulders Gate 3 and various characters in the Resident Evil franchise, to name a few. With the exception of Under Siege, a decent action movie, Seagal has been in a downward spiral for three decades. Whatever skill he MAY have had when he returned from Japan as a young man has long since disappeared beneath an appalling physique that is not worthy of ANY martial artist. Could he hurt people ? The man is 6'4" tall and easily 300lbs - of course he could. At 72, he is unlikely to put himself in that position. His movies - with the above exception - were woeful and if he has a sense of humor, he doesn't show it onscreen. Compared to the others in this list, Seagal went from hero to zero IMO.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion , and this is this commentators opinion , but when you leave out Donnie Yen , you don't watch Martial Arts Movies , I've watched over 600 action movies specifically Arts oriented , Steven Segal ( 21 st maybe ) you're joking , and Scott Adkins instead of Chuck Norris as well , though I love Chuck (12th for sure). Honorable mentions Michael J White( 13) , Sammo Hung (9) , Tony Jaa , Jackie Wu Jing (8)
Don't forget the ladies Michelle Yeoh ( untrained ) , Ziyi Zhang ( untrained), and I'll go with Cynthia R ( 10) , just to name a few .
Top 7
---------
1Donnie
2Jackie
3Jet
4Bruce
5 Tony Jaa

7Scott
This is my humble opinion.

Jean-Claude van Damme and Jason Statham are supposed to be better than Chuck Norris? Never. Chuck Norris has 8 Dan in Taekwondo and Tang Soo do, was Bruce Lee's film partner and founded his own martial art and is a grandmaster. Jean-Claude van Damme has a black belt in karate and can do the splits. But nothing more. And Jason Statham is originally a water tower diver and has had martial arts training with several people. Chuck Norris is at least 5 levels above both of them

I am so sick of hearing that Brando was the god actor of all time. or Pacino. Brando wouldn't memorize lines. Towards the end of his career, sometimes he did not read scripts before shooting a scene. The lines were taped onto props around the set.
Acting requires discipline. 'The Method' acting approach that Brando studied with Stella Adler, a member of The Group & a precursor to the Actors Studio where some of the finest American actors, like Montgomery Clift, James Dean,Paul Newman, Joann Woodward,Lee J. Cobb, Lee Remick, DeNiro, Rod Steiger,Karl Malden & so many more.
Daniel Day Lewis is never on the list of finest actors. Talk about brilliant & disappearing into a role. Talk about disciplined.
Americans r obsessed with best of's. It is silly.

The narrator is making me a little nuts as he keeps going back and forth between pronouncing Muni then Moonie, then Muni then Moonie. Jeez, pick one and use it throughout.

Paul Muni over played his acting; not natural but more artificial.

Only 9 comments should tell you how unprofessional this AI produced piece is. The pronounciation is inaccurate. The images don't link to the text.
