Love China and its unique customs and long history. There is no operating manual dictating how a nation should behave or what customs it practices.
Many western customs are strange to Asians, better to live and enjoy the differences. China is my favourite vacation destination. the old the modern and future in one, inhabited by friendly fun and peace loving people. From Australia,

Doesn't matter how the world is changing with new technologies, new inventions, or different dynasties throughout thousands of years Chinese history. China will still be China, Chinese people will never forget their history, roots, origination, tradition.

I was in China in 1998. Can’t believe the changes. No more double busses, belchijg fumes. No overhead crosswalks instead traffic lights. No personal cars and so much more. I’d love to return to China, but my advancing age is a deterrent. It was my most memorable trip.

Just because the time doesn't change with different longitudes doesn't mean that the people have to all start work at the same time. Companies can set whatever time they want to start and end their day.

I visited HONG KONG during Vietnam, returned to Nanning in 2010 and CHengdu in 2011. China mixes the very old (5000 year history) with super new. Regardless of politics they just want to live their usually long lives doing tai chi, watching traditional dances, listening to distinctly Chinese musical instruments. In some places they have never seen a white face so you feel like a Martian landing on earth. Almost all the young ladies keep their figures, except for the Chinese buddha statues you see very little fat. Also, the ladies though considered a yellow race try to make their skin as white as they can as white skin means indoors, white collar, money and dark means working outside, hard labor, poor. THe person I visited in Nanning lived on the 7th floor of her apartment building, and no elevator. They drink warm water! The restaurants don't have menus, pictures of the food are on the walls, when you choose the waitress then takes you to your table and turns in your order. One large brown building had the letters KFC on the side, I said that in AMerica that meant KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN and was informed it meant the same thing in CHina. Neat place.
